Monk(forbidden fist)/Wizard(blood mage)
your game is shit. fuck off faggot
would have been fine if there was an attack option

BTFO by drunken Slavs with no budget... but who actually like Infinity Engine games and know what makes them fun.
Can you still push characters around when it's not their turn in turn based mode? Because that shit's fucked and retarded.
Numbers in Pathfinder: Kingmaker are fucking bonkers. This is a level 2 bandit with +14 damage bonus. Fuck that noise.
Also, I really wish it had ToEE like turn-based gameplay. 3.5e is perfect for turn-based videogame.
>bought this two years ago together with divinity 2 to scratch my crpg itch
>mfw I never bothered to install either
What did you play instead?
Same day I found my old Baldur’s Gate 2 box and played that instead for the whole night.
Forgotten sanctum> Beast of Winter> Seeker,Slayer,Survivor
Performance is even worse in this patch.
Obsidian is great at making games.
>What should I roll next?
Roll the discordtranny class, very effective at killing themselves.
What kind of toaster are you playing on?
No, the game is unfinished trash and used funds from kickstarter to finish Wasteland 2.
Oh you know. 2080ti, 9700k and 32 GB of ram. A real stinker.
>two years ago
are you a time traveler
Works fine for me with an 9700, 1080, and 16gb.
I really enjoyed my time with PoE2 a lot even though I had to force myself to finish even a single playthrough of 1, why is that?
The summoner chanter class is pretty dope though and seemed kind of broken when I played it since all the other casters except for the purple mind whip guys all have only limited spell casts
There is. As ever, the one who posted that image is an infamous faggot. Rememeber the endless Witcher 3 shitposting threads? All him. Dude got a SERIOUS mental illness.
He'll post the rest of his 10 or so images then continue being a mentally defective retard.
Unity is a fun engine huh.
gee, i think you might be a lying retard. My 1070 does ultra easy
PoE2 has really really great classes and multiclassing, and there's enough legitimately difficult encounters that building your character properly feels rewarding.
Difficulty in PoE1 was full retard
>Get to the castle on PotD
>Shades for days

It's on sale on GOG and i am tempted to buy it.
Why do people hate RTwP so much?
I have no problem with turn based but not every fucking RPG needs to be turn based.
I can't even imagine Pillars 2 as turn based, it must be slow as fuck.
I can't help it if I don't enjoy my games to constantly stutter.
>divinity:os 2 is also on sale for cheaper
lol
It's a problem that most open CRPG have, it's really hard to balance quest numbers and difficulty. Players want a lot of quest to do but then you end up overlevelling a bunch, but if you nerf xp and rewards too much it's unrewarding and frustrating.
Not my fault you supposedly good rig can't play a game that my 3 years old 1070 can easily max out.
Don't make the same mistake I did. (Although at least you'd be buying it on sale.)
D:OS2 and Kingmaker are both much better games.
>you will never ride to the Obsidian headquarters on the back of ropekid’s bike, the wind streaming is though your hair
Why live
It's fine, it was probably too intelligent for you.At least you tried to elevate yourself.
Playing Pathfinder after PoE is such a breath of fresh air.
No Sawyer's autism to stop you from having as much fun with builds as you want.
D:OS2 has too much "look, our fantasy world is so unique and not-tropey" that it's not even really that enjoyable as a fantasy world anymore.
fucking this it happens worse in pathfinder kingmaker's last dungeon, the fucking wild hunt scouts do an aoe paralyze that you have to roll against every round and paralyzes you for a min if you fail the save. you NEED freedom of movement cast on everyone in your party or you are fucked. the last dungeon in kingmaker nearly made me quit the game for good even though I had but 150 hours into that save.
all of them pretty meh compeard to the dlc in the first game.
>new story content
What is it?
Divinity comes off as afraid to take itself seriously, I don’t really get what people see in it the game is awful for RP and combat is flashy but shallow and breaks easily.
why are two handed weapons so shit in this game?
Install it faggot.
According to the news post, they added more dialogue from Woedica and Eothas in the critical path, specifically reactivity based on the PoE1 endings.
Beacuse action speed is king and full attack abilities are everywhere.
the problem with Pillars isn't the gameplay its the awful ending. You don't stop Eothas in anyway, you are basically just there to watch him destroy shit then fuck off only to be told to follow him and do the same thing over and over.
Yeah that's why the story is great
>The Ultimate Challenge - The Ultimate Challenge is now available for those adventurers that dare try to brave it. Those that manage to best the challenge may even find themselves with physical rewards
forums.obsidian.net
Who's going to try this?
anyone here play the Varnhold's lot dlc for kingmaker?
I'm interested in getting it but i've heard its short and not worth 12 bucks
>The Ultimate Challenge requires the following to be enabled/completed:
>Triple Crown - Expert Mode, Trial of Iron, Path of the Damned
>Level Scaling (Only scale upwards)
>Solo
>All 11 God Challenges - Wael, Woedica, Hylea, Rymrgand, Ondra, Skaen, Abydon, Magran, Berath, Galawain, and Eothas.
>All DLCs - Beast of Winter/ Seeker, Slayer Survivor/ Forgotten Sanctum.
>All major enemies and boss battles completed.
Nobody. There's only like 1 class that can even do that.
How is pure paladin in pillars 2
I have to finish 1 though but it has been so long that I'll probably just restart. I was at that point though with my paladin and equipment that I was pretty much unkillable
>the entire reason you are there is pointless
>great story
They should have just made you run off and become a pirate at the end of pillars 1, it would have had the same impact to the story and would have been a little less stupid.
Flames of Devotion is one of the best abilities in the game.
Attacking party members through dialogue? Are you serious that you can do that?
Some turbo autist mega nerd will do it.
good but boring. mulit class with as a chanter or barbarian.
And I guarantee he'll do it as a Troubadour.
Yeah i was waiting for a steam sale but i think i'll grab it on gog today
>Nobody
user....
the reviews are good for it. I'm actually impressed a side-game dlc has higher reviews than the one with an extra character, race and class
>turn-based gameplay
Fuck off, normie brainlet.
>hey lets turn a 100 hour RPG into a 1000 hour one
Not him but you can't. You could just kill them outside of dialogue after but that's about it. If you wanted no gays and homos in your crew though you'd need to kill half your party.
>destroy balance between weapons and skills to force a terrible turn based mode
jesus fucking christ I'm never touching this mode
Opinions on ATOM and wasteland 2?what other crpgs are worth looking into, or are they all as bad as pillars and divinity?
Man, I really dislike the companions you get in Pathfinder.
Orc man and Amiri are annoying assholes.
>ME STRONK! LET ME AT 'EM FAGGOT LEADER
and of course, Valerie is an atheist.
But yeah, Kingmaker has a very large scope.
It's colorful, easy to get into, with a great amount of polish in terms of presentation
I've been a fan of Divinity since Divine Divinity released and I honestly don't like the direction they went what with shitty strategy (dragon commander) and turn based is also not exactly my cup of tea but oh well
I wish they'd go back to making a good action rpg that's more grimdark and edgy, DD was a great game and it's probably one of my favorite action rpgs
Atom is fun, definitely try it if you liked Fallout 1/2.
They're more grounded with subtle humor and shit.
Not so buggy, and very limited companions, only 4 or 5 out there.
I didn't really like Wasteland 2.
I haven't tried atom but wasteland 2 really feels like a budget game without much depth. Energy weapons completely suck, but there's a small weapon mod for that. It has some fun / funny quips here and there but for me was a pretty forgettable game overall
Before the DLC, unless you went 7 levels too early somewhere, there were like 2 hard AND interesting encounters. I never died in the vanilla game except for running in a bount 10 levels higher
What did they expect?
The first DLC feels like it should've been in the core game from the start.
Even that 'threesome' with the tiefling sisters which isn't really a threesome isn't worth buying.. but I bet thirsty fags did, and this was their plan all along to silence the guys angry at that orc-elf threesome romance.
The problem with that is that PoE1's first chapter is completely on rails and the shade encounter is close to unavoidable without exploiting an AI bug. They knew perfectly well on-hit stun was unreasonable to put on an earlygame gatekeeping mob yet they kept it in because they were desperate for that EPIC DIFFICULTY feel that pretty much requires you to cheese the situation in some way.
Sawyer hates the Great Man history theory, the story is about the inexorable march of time and change and no one Great Man (the player) can do much about it. They can fight against it and fail, or go along and try to guide it as best they can
Just spam fan of flames like a pussy, watch everything explode
Sawyer is also a faggot and shit writer. The only good he did was Graham and even then the character was originally made by Avellone.
Lol git gud.
Like I said, you need to cheese this by bottlenecking them in the lower corner of the map and it's retarded.
I've clearly done it multiple times retard, doesn't mean I have to like it.
Wasteland 2 is pretty dull. Had the same cheap mobile game feel as the Shadowrun games but the writing was less interesting.
You don't have to like it, you just need to git gud.
If he purposely makes his games not fun, he's very good at what he does.
To what end considering I've finished the game multiple times and some in solo ?
To be fair, Sawyer isn't totally wrong.
Pathfinder: Kingmaker has you as some powerful leader, except everyone is so incompetent that instead of sending out people to resolve quests, you end up being the errand boy of your own territory.
But that is the point of the game anyway, to be an adventurer.
I enjoy the game but i agree with you. The start of the game has you railroaded into difficult encounters. It's especially bad when trying for the solo achievement since you can't milk exp anywhere before doing caed nua (with plenty of cheese)
Poe2 has the same problem, the start of the game has you going to the ruins (which is, dare i say, VERY DIFFICULT) which again asks you to cheese everything before the whole world opens up to you so you can get some xp
I forgot how it was in PoE1, but can't you just skip those hard areas until you're a little stronger?
PoE 2's early game isn't nearly as bad as PoE 1.
The outside of the escavation site can be dealt with fairly reasonably if you recruit a couple of mercs, and it even provides you with the ramps to bottleneck the enemies, so the terrain the fight is situated on naturally lends itself to the strategy, which helps makes it seem sensible.
Inside the ruin the only really bad fight (the billion fucking brine imps) is optional so it's fine.
We're talking about a fight that is technically unskippable for a party, and needs an AI bug to be exploited to be skippable solo.
But user you can't get stronger without doing quests, and all the quests (save for raedric's hold where you can sneak in) are locked beyond caed nua
you can get to around lvl 4 before going to caed nua
>completed game multiple times
>cries about shades
git gud m8
Poe2 early game is way harder, shades can mostly be skipped/pulled.
What else should I cry about considering nothing even comes close in the rest of the game ?
How terrible are ciphers in turn based mode?
Deadfire already nerfed them compared to POE1 and turn based seem to fuck them over even further.
I want a damage dealing cipher btw
Ondra monks are way more bullshit than Shades. Why cry about anything though game is pretty fair
I've never had a single problem with shades and i've only finished the game once. How can someone who has finished it multiple times?
Nothing in lategame is bullshit because you have access to all the broken shit at that point.
the phantoms in caed nua is bullshit because before the deadfire expansion the game didn't really give you dick to handle that encounter and you have to either sneak past it, which is only viable solo, or suffer through it without any of the tools that make it bearable
I don't remember what level i was when i got there (mind you i've started the game like 10 times already), but this part is consistently hard and anything that comes after it is noticeable easier, plus they could all be skipped for later if you desire
There's also the lighthouse in ondra's gift but like i said you can finish that later
Because he’s larping.
Basically there's two hard types of enemies in poe, shades/phantoms and druids
Anything that isn't on-hit stunning or casting 5 layers of raw damage DoTs on you is a joke in that game.
You know what is worse? Ogre Druids.
There’s a mod that lets me turn Llengrath in my own personal Orlan cumdumpster right?
How to kill ogre druids: get a druid of your own and spam the level 4 or 5 stalactite from the ground. I think there's one that petrifies and another one that gets them prone versus reflex (ogres have no reflex). You probably need to lead them to a closed area of sorts
You also need to counter their insect swarm with some healing though
FRIENDLY REMINDER
On any thread discussing any RPG, 90% of the people taking part have never actually played the game, and are:
A. Using common knowledge and heresay.
B. Taking information from wikis and guides.
C. Basing their opinions on memes and screenshots.
Any PoE is one of the best examples of this.
Poe is trash, both games, deal with it.
You've just proved my point. General statements without any content or context. Back to /vg/ with you, wretch.
>it's really hard to balance quest numbers and difficulty.
Not really. It's pretty trivial to adjust that stuff on the fly either through stats or AI behaviors. It depends solely on the encounter designer being lazy or not.
In POE2 there's a lot of laziness in the AI behaviors for enemies.
>General statements without any content or context.
is this game good how is it in comparison to pathfinder kingmaker
It's the goat of all time
Will part 3 ever come out?
>comparison to pathfinder kingmaker
Much, much worse, especially the writing.
Has anyone tried out the turn-based mode they added? I already beat the original release on launch and once more when all the DLC hit, might try the TB mode for fun to see how different the experience is.
I heard that TB favors very different classes compared to the original battle system.
Poe has better writing but it doesn’t facilitate good gameplay imo which is unfortunate because the system is better for a video game.
PoE1 has great writing. A little too verbose, but still good. It has some really good companions too. PoE2 on the other hand has better gameplay and especially better class customisation but much, much worse writing and companions.
I didn't like it very much, being able to only attack once per round dragged things a bit
Plus rtwp is really good with deadfire's ai configuration
user that hasn't played since like 3.0, has Sawyer nerfed the Soulblade Cipher any more? It already got hit by life 2 or 3 nerfs, I don't know why he likes nerfing it so much when Monk is allowed to run free.
Yeah, I heard that's why people make hyper offensive teams in TB mode, to just burst down enemies to avoid drawn out conflicts.
>but much, much worse writing and companions.
How much worse?
Because Kingfinder companions are pretty bad compared to PoE1 companions
One of your companions talks endlessly about all the men and women he has sex with on a regular basis, and one acts like a literal retard that spent too much time on Tumblr.
Eder is the ugly straight one. You'd need to kill all but him.
Seriously don't play PoE 2.
its funny. the fish boy would have been the best companion if they cut out all the sex part. he had a pretty good character growth if you bothered talking to him and taking him to the Gullet.
>tfw all the shitters like Xoti and Maia and Tekehu are only interested in a fling
>Aloth is the only one actually wanting an emotional connection and not just free sex
Damnit, too bad I always play a male protag, if I was a girl I'd be all over Aloth.
I did eventually, but HOLY HELL does he give such a fucking awful fist impression those first few conversations. It also doesn't help that the Huana are the stupidest faction in the game and literally have to rely on magic and dragons to solve their problems.
It's planned at least, the DLC says that REAL NATURAL-BORN GODS are coming to Eora, that Stormfolk Fighter Rekke from Yezuha says that his land's gods are making their way to Eora and they aren't man-made ones like the Engwythan ones, there are real gods.
>I want a damage dealing cipher btw
Josh says no. Ciphers could deal respectable damage on PoE2's 1.0 release so 1.2 and 2.0 double nerfed them.
Is this battletoads?
Soul blade is fine and Monk isn’t even OP.
With good reason, Cipher is support/control if it did high damage there’d be no reason to field anything else.
>Monk isn't even OP
>probably the strongest class in the game after the Wizard and Chanter rebalance
Except the whole idea of a combat Cipher is to use all your focus on powerful damaging attacks and casting spells would weaken your powerful attacks.
By raw dps maybe? I really don’t remember them doing anything else notable.
i still need to play this shit
Monk can literally solo the game better than any other class and can throw out the highest damage numbers along with Barb, but without the Barb's weaknesses.
No Soul blade is specialized in shred spells doesn’t necessarily mean damage. If you are just trying to only use soul annihilation you’re playing it wrong.
I stopped using Soul Blade because Sawyer's nerfs made Soul annihilation do no damage, what else can it do?
All the companions in all WRPGs are total garbage these days. It's like all of them are written by the same person of mediocre talent. No soul to any of them. Even when they try to be edgy or different like with e.g. Durance, they still end up feeling boring and impotent anyway because nothing they say matters. Durance will never betray you, never attack you, never ACTUALLY call you out on your bullshit the way he would if he really had the strong ideals he pretends to have. I assume he can't even be antagonized into leaving the party either, though I'm not 100% on that one.
Fucking AJANTIS has more soul to him than this grabage. Add an evil party member, Ajantis will attempt to murder his ass, as he should. That's how companions should act, or at least the bare minimum of how one should. Otherwise, what's the point? Just make a party of custom characters instead. There'll be no functional difference.
>>Patch 5.0 Out Now : turn-based mode out of beta, new story content, new ship UI, ultimate challenge and more.
Still no coop options, why bother when have better games like IWD or BG?
How is said bandit a problem?
He's camped in an area that you can scout ahead, can even disarm the traps surrounding their camp and attack them while they are asleep.
Or you could just, you know, skip said encounter.
This is why we can't non braindead tier RPGs anymore, zoomers complain about everything and want their player characters to be extremely more powerful than enemies.
Said bandit also has power attack turned on with a 2h weapon, he doesn't have +14 bonus STR.
At that point isn't that just a Cipher with offensive spells? What's the point of a subclass that can use a fancy magic sword when you don't use it?
>can you have your frail wizard with garbage 2 attacks with garbage ab and garbage str/con turn into a colossal sized dragon with 5 natural attacks, high physical stats, spellcasting, sneak attacks, unlimited no cooldown dragon breath
>all the while surrounded by literally 50+ skeleton minions
You're being unreasonable. Companions don't necessarily have to leave you. Just have good writing.
The reason modern companions don't leave you is because there isn't enough budget to give you enough companions so that they can leave you.
Notice that unlike BG2, modern RPGs don't even have half the number of companions you can get.
That's why Durance is still a good character, he's written pretty good, but players can understand that devs just don't have the budget to justify companions leaving you.
Kingmaker companions OTOH don't seem pretty good. Durance had a pretty good muh faith story and Eder does to a certain extent. Valerie does not.
YEA!
Kingmaker loses in the companion department when compared to PoE.
Deadfire on the other hand? Jesus Christ, the companions there are plain bad as we don't even have Durance as a saving grace. Edér and Aloth are about the only tolerable ones but they are still pretty average.
>gods
God. And he says his people are coming not their God.
>You will soon meet Yezuha. I wish you didn't have to.
haven't played atom, wasteland 2 sucks.
play fallout, fallout 2 (with restoration patch), fallout: nevada and underrail.
Yezuha has a single God user. Also it's not their God that's coming, it's the people of Yezuha. According to Rekke they're not gonna be...friendly. He even laments them coming because things won't end well for Eora.
>Loading Screens: The Game
I am glad to hear that.
My hopes for PoE 3 were always that the actual capital g Gods would return to Eora and fuck things up, especially the fakeass golems who the game goes to lenghts making you hate them, besides Hylea.
So I tried out the new Woedica content. She calls you beloved if you empowered her and is actually super nice if you're aligned with her. She even says that she's working on freeing you from Berath's clutches. Based as fuck.
She also mentions that she loved Thaos too but she gets why you had to off him. She's just happy you're a follower of her.
Anyway why wasn't this shit in the base fucking game from the start?!
>PoE 1
>learn the big reveal that gods are just soul golems
>PoE 2
>don't have a SINGLE dialogue option with either said soul pinnatas themselves or random npcs to claim the gods are fakes
What is even the point, Sawyer?
Yeah. She actually holds to her part of the bargain. You don't get cool shit like Thaos because of Mary Sue Berath. Hell she even says that once she takes over you will have a place in the foot of her throne with eternal happiness. She fondly talks about Eothas too. Not with seething hatred but more like "my brother is too much of an optimist the little retard". Kinda like how Magran is pissed at Eothas but smiles at what he's doing.
You literally can't have "good writing" if your companions don't adhere to their character, and just do whatever's most convenient for the plot rather than what would make sense for them as characters.
If anything, the problem is that their budget is too large, which gives them these idiotic ideas about writing long-ass in-depth stories for each character, but they don't have the TALENT to actually pull that off so not only do we end up with this shallow garbage instead, but instead of like 20 shallow garbage characters like in the older games, we get 8 shallow garbage characters. And you know what happens then? Suddenly, your characters can't have CHARACTER, because if they did then they'd disagree with the PC, and you can't do that when you only have like 8 characters since that could end up with the PC having less than a full party worth of companions.
Stop making excuses for their staggering incompetence.
Probably because Sawyer has this raging boner against religion.
PoE 1 has this small whimsical encounter with some of the gods or just their voices.
PoE 2 outright makes 99% of them act like power hungry ineffectual retards who think too highly of themselves and couldn't be bothered at all with the general folk
I hate what they did to the Gods and why the fuck did they make Berath Queen of all the Gods too? They make all the Gods shit themselves when Ice bro appears but Berath "stands impassive". Literally nothing phases her. The closest you get from her is a small smile when you crack a joke.
PS:T had almost no companions (several of them hidden) and all of them had really interesting personalities and could end up doing really weird shit in response to what you said to them. Like, Vhailor literally dies on the spot if you probe his philosophy too closely.
It's not a budget issue, it's something else.
Romance was the issue. Josh and co are on record saying the system for the romance made companions complicated as fuck. It's why they're quests are so short and why we didn't get any new ones.
Also why the fuck does Eder not as Waidwen about Woden when he was so fucking obsessed about it in the first game?
>It's not a budget issue, it's something else.
You should check out the Obsidian forums. It was a bit of both. The way they track companions disposition was allegedly messy. They posted a pic of how it was and it's such a mess. Blame the romance retards for this mess.
>What you did with Thaos will have consequences
Fucking nothing. It took a DLC for them to even acknowledge it.
