I gave FFXIV somewhat of a try and it was horribly boring, what am I missing?
The whole intro sequence is just tedious and dull
>hey bro do these 2 hours of fetch quests in this garbage (that's supposed to be impressive?)
I basically gave up before even getting a chance to leave the starting city or whatever the fuck it was.
I'm guessing this is just for FF fans because I've never played any of the games and couldn't give less of a shit about them honestly.
Feels like I'd even rather play TESO

ARR is full of fetch quests because they didn't figure out how to properly make quests until patch 2.5 (Late ARR / Pre HW).
HW and StB keep the fetch quests to a minimum, and the few that are there at least advance the plot at a reasonable pace.
I still wouldn't recommend using skip potions because that's gay, but I wouldn't judge you too hard for skipping ARR. I would definitely judge you for skipping Heavenward though.
They never learn how to make quests.
Heavensward and Stormblood quests are noticeably better. There's less filler and more cutscenes.
ARR has quests in it that are literally there just for the developers to have a giggle and waste your time.
Any more meme of cute loli dragon?
I'm doing the MSQ leading up to the Titan fight, and it definitely feels like that.
I'm not OP but what if I'm not interested in the story and cutscenes? am I being forced through them?
Press the O button to bring up the option to skip them.
That is the worst part of the early ARR quests. It's exactly the kind of blatant time-wasting I was talking about. After Titan it will start to get decent to good up until the end of the ARR MSQ. Then you get to the post-ARR quests and you get more of the running around for everyone fetch quests. Hopefully they'll address these quests at some point. I know too many people who dropped it around the Titan quests.
Yeah sure
You can skip them, but Heavensward really was a solid storyline. You're doing yourself a disservice by skipping them.
Go play FFXI, much more rewarding and fulfilling than FFXIV.
if you're not playing XIV to be a sexually confused catboy sucking on erp penis and calling your group leader "daddy" then you probably will get bored
>talk to this guy
>go talk to another guy
>report back to the first guy
>go talk to another guy
>QUEST COMPLETED!
>talk to a guy
>QUEST ACCEPTED!
>go talk to another guy
>report back to the first guy
>go talk to another guy
>QUEST COMPLETED!
>talk to a guy
>USE DUTY FINDER TO ENTER DUNGEON X
>QUEST COMPLETED
>start over from the beginning
>repeat for 300 hours
The quest system in XIV is horribly boring. You should just treat it as a 3D visual novel, and just drop it if you don't care about the story.
The fetch quests were bearable because there were tons of people doing them, it was a living world that had so many opportunities to interact with people. Now that you missed that train of the themepark, it's just utterly irredeemable garbage sorry. The main story is utterly shit until you reach like 2.5 for the Heavensward lead-up.
Seriously the fact that it's been like this SINCE FUCKING LAUNCH shows how utterly incompetent Yoshi is. The only reason the MMO is popular is because it's prettied-up WoW for trannies (i.e. anyone maining a female character) and everything else being put out is gook grind p2w garbage (fuck gooks) or ugly western indie shovelware.
Also no no one playing this is an FF fan I doubt most players played anything except maybe 2 games out of 7/10/13. It's just a subpar game inherently, with bonus flavor added from specific FF references.
StB still has a shitload of fetch quests. The sad thing is Yoshi acknowledged ARR was notoriously bad and decided to fucking charge for a skip potion instead of fixing it like he originally promised. At the very least he can give everyone free skip potions for ARR, especially the fucking post-Ultima shit. You have to wait 3 hours for a 2.4 dungeon if you're DPS and playing on an off-patch.
>i.e. anyone maining a female character
>t. greylet male character
I hate FF After XII, FF is just a husk now.
Cope. The only acceptable female races are lalas and midlanders.
it's there to filter out the adhd children like you
>garbage game design is good because muh sekrit klub
outside of the EROTIC ROLE PLAY, mods to improve the EROTIC ROLE PLAY, and the Gold Saucer, then FFXIV can get pretty boring pretty quickly. Graphics can be pretty nice to look at if you want to just wander around the open fields tho
But duties and trials is where its at
It certainly has it's down. All the post ultima shit is really bad, but it's starting to pick up again. How much of ARR do I have left to go through after killing Good King Mog?
Give me shota bunny boys or give me death!
>normals paying for months just so they can play a midpatch boss fight while losing out on hundreds of dollars
Yeah mentally ill fags clear shit that isn't available at the start.
oh wait a mmorpg is full of fetch quests? who would've thought. such a good detective OP..niceee
there was literally nothing but
>go talk to this guy and come back
for 2 fucking hours
atleast elsewhere I get to kill shit almost straight away
Other MMOs don't force you to fetch quest you just do it to level up faster
FFXIV forces you to fetch before you can even enter the starter dungeon. It's fucking boring and stupid
it's the poorman's FFXI for casuals, furries and ERPers.
FFXI was true kino in it's heyday but you're about 10 years too late for that.
I don't know. They got old pretty fast. The only thrill at higher level instances comes from whether you're 1-shot by some silly gimmick or not, which surprises you exactly once and then never again.
You fell for squeenix shills lad. The game is shit like every other MMO atm. The only people that play ff are weebs that like to erp and play dress up
this is your typical xivtranny, thinks fetch quests are a standard for mmos and defends it like a mentally ill abomination
>those dps chads in the back left
intimidating tbqh
>tfw finally happy with glams on all the jobs i play
Has there been anything more instantly unfunny as the rubber facemask?
but im not that big of a weeb and i dont erp
>finally happy
>glams
you disgustnig mentally-ill tr*nny
You guys ever check out the /vg/ threads for these kind of MMOs?
good dont
after /wowg/ and /wpsg/, no
based potato girls
0-4 do stone vigil hard
5-9 make food
yeah heaven forbid people use something besided dyed scaevan/omega
damn lalas are based
zoomer
Tell me, is it worth it to do 300 hours of fetch quests to get caught up? Is it really? I gave up at level 20 but the shills are trying to reel me back in.
Now post fflogs percentiles per race
Heres some general advice if you ever consider playing XIV.
>Main story quest is your main go-to
>Ignore sidequests for now
>Always pickup unlock quests (Quests with a blue + sign)
If you're a fresh character, follow Mainstory until you are level locked, then move to get your job class quests, not only will it give you skills/equipment it will unlock Hunting Log, go out and do as much hunting log as possible as it is a good source of exp while progressing on main story quest.
Once dungeons are unlocked just mainly do those really, do leveling roulette daily once you get it.
If you're a dps and don't enjoy the long dungeon queues you have either the squadrons that require additional prep and unlocking but are good up to lvl 55 time-wise or POTD. Above level 60 and needing exp doing rounds of pvp can net you good experience,
Honestly if you're a DPS getting into an FC and asking for tank/healer to join you for dungeons/roulettes will greatly improve your leveling speed.
>thought double TK opener for MNK just meant doing one inside RoF then reapplying buffs and using another to recover from with RoW
>its actually a completely different thing
Bros what the fuck, this one lined up so well I thought it was the real thing
Honestly, yea.
The trials/raids are really good and so is the combat at that point.
hmm the only absolute painful part to me is the very early game so like 1-30 and then the post 50 quest, everything is pretty enjoyable
Jesus christ /vg/ is insane
if you don't get invested in the story you won't like FFXIV as a whole, you would be wasting your time even if you end up enjoying end game. it's a JRPG first, MMO, second
No this game is not worth all that time. The only scenario it's worth the time is if you have no future aspirations for your future so all your free time is free and you also have no games to play.
>I gave FFXIV somewhat of a try and it was horribly boring, what am I missing?
1.23b, when the game was good.
As someone whos started playing the a few months ago and is considering giving eso a try, does anyone here have any experience with it?
Plan to possibly play it till shad drops so I don't burn myself out.
Yikes. That looks shopped though. Is that a hairless male arm or a fem
>it tried to timestamp its arm as well
I just fucking realized that shit
No MMO is fun until max level, the only times MMOs are fun befor max level is when they're
a) new, and there's tons of people running around every zone for you to interact
b) when there's open world PvP
XIV has no open world PvP and you're about 5 years late to complain about the leveling
I'm not sure if that or the black desert general where half the spoiler images are pajeets blowing a load on printed pictures is worse
Guess it boils down to different personality types, I really enjoy korean MMOs moreso than western or japanese ones so I actually find grinding and slowly leveling up cathartic in a sense
Trials especially stress me the fuck out when I'm playing tank so they always stay exciting
That said I haven't actually gotten far in FF14, I barely finished release Heavensward content and I've been playing off and on since the beta testing
How are the data center after the addition of the new ones? I suspect there are less players currently as end of an expansion and nothing.
That's exactly the kind of face I expected the thing in the image made
I didn't feel it, even dps queues have been good for me ~8 minutes.
Im a eurocuck on Light and i can definitely see the quality of the player base increased when they threw moogle in their little containment DC
nu-mmos are designed around player retention and neglect new player experience. old playerbase is pandered with all sorts of leveling boosts for alts and other quality of life bullshit that turns leveling content into a trivial one way street that you just have to tolerate because
>dude the game becomes good like 50 hours in when youre max level
XI was great, but the term 'poorman' would imply 14 is f2p.
Also it's sadly been much longer than 10 years since the heydey.
Update this shit faggot, we cleared a few weeks back with a male Au Ra, a catboy and a female Shrek.
Anyone want a friend code to try it out?
Wow is shit now and its the closest thing to it.
>nu-mmos are designed around player retention
they all are
if they weren't they wouldn't be subscription based
except, XIV spits in the face of veterans on a regular basis, does everything it can to coddle new players, and getting to max level takes more like 500 hours so a new player has a lot of incentive to skip everything via story and level boosts
>dude the game becomes good like 50 hours in when youre max level
More like 200h if you are a new player starting now.
>old playerbase is pandered with all sorts of leveling boosts for alts and other quality of life bullshit that turns leveling content into a trivial one
Aside from armory bonus you dont get anything else to help you level.
All the exp items are available to anyone who upgrade to most collectors edition.
>quality of life bullshit
Applicable to early game.
>that dude who printed a picture of someone's character and took a shit on it
You can't even reach the end of the base game in 50 hours lmao
glad ive played since the beginning, must suck for new players forced to go through the entire story even when you outlevel it, dont tell me any of the pre HW story it isnt, ive played it. im shocked new players are even trying the game i assume most quit at 50 or before though
can you retards go one thread without obsessing over /vg/
What floor do you run repeatedly on Heaven on High like you'd do PotD 51 - 60? I'm finally up to floor 21 - 30 but it doesn't look like you queue straight into that floor, because when I tried with the second slot it started me at floor 1 - 10 again. Yet looking it up online floor 30+ requires a fixed party. So is Heaven on High only for levelling if you're doing a pre-formed group?
Shut the fuck up tranny
>this thread again
Stop playing MMO's
trannies really do live rent free in your mind at all times huh
keeeeek
Have you cleared 30 yet? You might have to do the quest after for it to unlock but you can just do 21-30. You must be missing somehting
You can start at 21F after you've finished the story for it, so just run it once and do the quest.
Cool thanks. I thought that might be the case but couldn't find a definite answer on google.
>Feels like I'd even rather play TESO
I've played a lot of MMOs, WoW, XIV, Rift, TERA etc etc
I just started ESO recently and goddamn is it the worst MMO in my life (2 hours of playtime)
Maybe I just hate it because I like the original Morrowind where you're exploring this strange world with rules different to your own, xenophobia is rampant and slavery is legal. But in ESO suddenly everyone on Vvardenfell hates slavers and loves foreigners. Two steps outside of Seyda Neen GOD appears before you and sends you on a quest to talk to OTHER GOD and now you're best pals with God like 5 minutes into your adventure and trying to save the world with him. It just lacks any of the impact the original game had by sending you to Caius to adventure for 40 hours before maybe even getting close to chatting with any of the Gods.
And aside from the story being shit the combat just feels terrible. None of my spells mesh with each other at all, you just cast them at random and you can only slot 5? How does anyone think this game is good, neither the story nor the gameplay is fun.
Anyway give XIV at least 100 hours before you judge it, preferably 200. It gets better.
as they should
took me roughly 50 hours to clear arr main quest though.
ESO is utter trash i dont get how so many people seem to shill it
>Anyway give XIV at least 100 hours before you judge it,
yea ok let me just grind that real quick while not enjoying it at all
I liked the beginning of arr, 4 years ago.
>Anyway give XIV at least 100 hours before you judge it, preferably 200. It gets better.
why do people always have to say this for japanese games?
Because they are longer and shit all over instant gratification kiddies
>warning people about the batshit insane neckbeards pretending to be women is obsessing
anything else you want to make painfully obvious for everyone?
is this how youre choosing to spin a game being front loaded with 200 hours of boring dogshit as a good thing?
I'd unironically recommend Tera instead, far better combat and amazingly it has better world building too.
The early story is setting up the world and introducing shit that won't be relevant for a long time. It's quite immersive. You've got shit like Ala Mhigan refugees popping up in the story and that doesn't get addressed until you reach level 60 and go through a different expansion of unrelated story.
It's a slow burn but it pays off if you're interested in it.
If you don't care about the story at all then XIV is not the MMO for you. It's heavily focused on story.
The gameplay is good at endgame but all classes are very basic at level 1-50 before important skills are unlocked.
Would you rather have a game that's frontloaded with 2 hours of awesome content and then have 200 hours of boring dogshit after?
Imagine actually being surprised there's worldbuilding and a story in a mainline FF title
holy fucking BASED
Just join an FC and ask people to run it with you, christ.
I know it's a problem but don't just squat around complaining about wait times when there are dozens of packed FCs more than happy to run dungeons with newbies.
I care somewhat about the story, but it's hard to justify an okay story when the gameplay is just fetch quests.
no id rather just play a good game instead. what kind of smoothbrain question is that
its an mmo. find a FC and make some friends you antisocial faggot
>200 hours
I actually autismed for both relic weapons of my job after I started XIV, ignoring progression of MSQ in favor of light grinding, and still didnt have 200 after being caught up
We did it Yea Forums
isnt he the first primal you kill from patches? so im prtty sure you still have a fuck ton left
>fetch quests
This is any MMO ever
>kill
>fetch
>deliver
>use mcguffin
There's literally nothing else you can do.
What do you want from the quests user?
Reminder that Yoshit took the cringe casual pill and it's now about Second Life, not content
>Leveling BLM since I've never even got it to 50 before, let alone max it out
>Bored as fuck
>MFW I finally get Fire 3
holy shit why did this take so long to get something that felt strong
wait til you get fire 4 and foul
the games story is decent and feels like youre playing through a FF canpaign but all the content except for savage raids and ultimate raids are mostly boring just due to the difficulty. someone will tell you crafting/gathering is fun, but thats because they leveled up all of their crafters and shit to max level(level 1-50 is boring as fuck) because its practically required to enjoy doing high level recipes. triple triad can be fun sometimes as well.
>eden raids will be same as omega, repeating mechanics
t-thanks for the new polygon
You have no idea how boring GLA is until you get halone
>Western competitor for my weebshit is BAD
>Also play my weebshit for at least 100 hours, goy-sama!
Jesus Christ the shilling couldn't be anymore obvious. Eso it is.
His mindset is fantastic. The idea is that you can finish current content and be done with it then do other things or play other games.
Look at BfA which went the other way, you CANNOT finish that game, you need to do M+ every week in case your chest box upgrades with titanforge+socket+tertiary stat and you need to keep grinding AP and you need to keep upgrading your loot which will all become redundant when a new tier comes out so you need to do this all over again every six months. You cannot finish WoW and reach a state where you say "I'm done!" unless you literally stop caring about it entirely, which many have.
I much prefer how Yoshi designs the game.
Can we have a happy medium? Progression that's not too stressful but still challenging for people to strive towards?
I got PLD to 34 and honestly don't mind it as much as I did THM, since at least you're juggling your cooldowns and stuff. THM is an absolute snorefest.
I don't hate western games. Morrowind is probably my favorite singleplayer game of all time. I just think ESO sucks dick.
There's plenty of Western MMOs I'd recommend over it. Eve, WoW, Rift, Guild Wars, City of Heroes. Whatever.
ESO and XIV are both shit
leave that cat alone
Depends what you consider challenging. Most players are perfectly content with extremes and savage raids as that area, though I wish harder, optional dungeons were introduced st somepoint
I don't think it's a one-way process. The more you make your game casual the more casual players it's gonna attract and vice versa.
fatty shouldn't have eaten so much then
Except it isn't true. You need to grind tomes every week and keep your sub to keep your ilvl up. Trying to grind ilvls two or three patches behind is a total bitch
I'm not sure what you could do for dungeons that'll make them more challenging.
Introducing puzzles to dungeons makes them fun the first time and obnoxious the next 500 times you play through it.
You only need tomes if you're a baddie who can't complete savage.
Bardem's Mettle and Temple of the Fist were neat
Trying to get through the 2nd boss without failing any of the mechanics at all or that statue that old Monks tested themselves on without getting hit or doing it quick were fun little things for replaying the content
>Trying to grind ilvls two or three patches behind is a total bitch
It's not, they doubled the cap on genesis to make it easier. You can get full Scavean gear in like a month now and then you're literally done.
Like, actual mechanics to mobs that you have to observe and CC? It isn't rocket science, just look up any WoW Legion mythic dungeon on youtube.
>though I wish harder, optional dungeons were introduced st somepoint
Fuck SE for not doing harder dungeons in their current system, we have so many underused CC skills, it wouldn't even take big resources to just take a dungeon, make mobs hit harder, give them debuff skills and other threatning skills and i can assure you that would create whole new content for the price of 1 intern setting which mob has which debuff.
Imagine the POTD gorilla which has a ATK buff skill, why can't that be in dungeons too, force party to focus target on that specific mob or other mobs with worse skills.
Also making enmity matter put more pressure on tank to keep it, make healers gain double enmity or something
Old Savage is dead
XIV has the hardest raids. Thats all that really matters to me.
>mfw Alexander Ultimate is going to kick my ass
fucking this
in higher floors of potd/hoh you actually have to stun and cc mobs before they get devastating buffs or debuffs out or to stun their enrages if you dont kill them fast enough, which makes killing trash mobs feel way more engaging
meanwhile in every single dungeon in xiv every trash mob just auto attacks or does a cone or circle aoe ocasionally, it's all just tank and spank and its kinda boring
>tfw leveled through MSQ so didnt notice it as much
I remember grinding Brayflox for the battlemage set and I outleveled the story by like 10 levels by the time I got it all, good times.
How much of that was spent being afk?
only the shit threads
but yea overall vg's quality has dropped in the last 18 months because of the influx of gatcha spammers.
it's the fastest board now, at one point threads were 404-ing in 9 minutes from the 50+ gatcha waifu generals spamming and hitting the 750post bump limit 4-5 times an hour.
at one point there was 8 Fate:GO generals in the catalogue.
I think it's more that I've been spoilt by Red Mage
They feel strong and are easy to play even when synced down, while BLM feels really weak and kind of boring when it's synced down
BLM has a lot of rotational changes while you're leveling comparatively. RDM/SAM have retarded potencies so yeah they'll never be accounted for in sync content.
0-4 do tam tara 80 times
5-9 sleep
I hope they make a unique Ultimate for ShB that isn't just re-using assets.
But they probably won't because the baddies will bitch about not being able to experience it.
why would you do it 80 times
the minion is super cheap to buy and if it's for blue they made the spell 100% drop rate
retard
relic light
oh right relics are a thing
my bad
you're the kind of guy to play any game for 5 minutes and then complain you don't understand the appeal.
I prefer doing Ifrit NM.
It gives much less light (250 runs for Nexus total) but you don't have to move. Although they changed something about how long instances take to drop the gates so it's super annoying now.
I know it's a tired phrase but the game really does get better after ~30 hours.
yeah, why is it so long now what the fuck
Which one, user?
so what's the endgame about
Only teens that will probably grow up into lazy failures and failures play mmos
warrior
You only need to take a look at XIV's community to see that most of them feel the same way.
Eureka
Glam
Do up your garden and invite the neighbours
I really want to play this game but I've tried multiple times to get into it and I genuinely have never gotten to the end game because I get too bored like OP from the early quests. Is there any way to get past this at all?
I don't know what those things are tho
You don't know what a garden is?
>Doing weekly grinds (Tomestones, Raid Token Collecting, Alliance Raid stuff, Wondrous Tales, etc)
>Eureka (Involves more levelling, exploration, player interaction, item grinding, and clearing a public dungeon.)
>Learn and grind the current Extreme Trial in order to get a better weapon.
>Progging and Clearing Savage/Ultimate fights, farming savage fights for gear progression and challenge
>Level your side jobs just to try them out
>Level your crafters to make money
>Buy a house
>Unsub
yeah pay money to skip, goy-sama
>I love her. From the moment I set my eyes on her, she holmganged my heart.
This WAR questline I swear
don't forget painstaking long relic weapons that take so much time I feel like their almost worth mentioning.
Take it slowly. Don't treat it like the end game yet because the levelling experience and the end game are two different experiences.
Really, take your time. Aim to clear it incrementally by doing 5 levels worth of MSQ quests at a time then take a break by doing something else.
There's lots of side content to do and see even if you're a low level.
>Chocobo Racing
>Triple Triad
>Verminion
>Fashion Report
>Mahjong
>PvP (it's basically just another silly mini game)
>Trying out other jobs
>Trying out crafting/gathering
>Housing/Glamour
>FC Airship/Submarine Expeditions
>Treasure Hunting
>Hunting Logs
>Hunt Marks
>Get to floor 200 of Palace of the Dead
>Chocobo Companion levelling
>Beast Tribe quests around the level 40 range
At least they're easier than ever to do now.
Which is to say I still haven't done one despite that.
Don't warry, it gets dummer.
I remember after seeing the books needed for ARR relic I just started another HW relic.
t. tanitsuki shiruku
>Tfw stole the look of an avatarfag from the FF14 general
Not even ashamed, the character was preddy cute
Appreciate the genuine response man :)
I think you're 100% right I just need to take my time with it a little more. I was unaware of all the side content you can do while still leveling too thats pretty amazing.
I couldn't stay hooked on either. ESO I played since launch but dropped after the update that brought scalecallers peak or whatever. FF XIV I gave up on around 35. Not sure if I just hate the gear grind or what. Anytime I try investing myself into an MMO, I eventually get bored
>still challenging for people to strive towards
there's no challenge without a little bit of stress involved. If there's no stress and no chance of failure, it just becomes another obligatory time grind like eureka or leveling all jobs to 70 or some other fluffy '''''achievement''''' like that. There's no real satisfaction from things like that.
There's plenty of challenge in the game, just look at all the casuals spending 6 months working on ucob and still not clearing it.
Doing it right now
Books are just boring, all the steps after are worse, theyre just as long and cost gil, wasted 1m today
It's amazing how retarded you are that you can't read simple statistics.
Asked for percentiles, not clears
Who cares about percentiles in ultimate?
Because lalas are shitters who get carried? mostly girls?
Like I said, no one cares about percentiles in ultimates.
I didn't know Yea Forums was a personal blog now
>>>Livejournal
worldwide version
>both genders of lalafell are are #1 and #2 everywhere outside of NA where males are #3
spud uprising
No problem!
Your first milestone should be to reach level 50 with one job, nevermind reaching level 50 in the MSQ quests.
At level 50, you can start unlocking a lot of the ARR end game content like the level 50 dungeons, which in turn gives you access to Poetic Tomestones. Tomestones are the game's endgame currency which you can use to buy higher level gear/weapons, amongst other things.
Your next milestone should be completing the level 50 MSQ quest. That signifies that you've finally completed all of the base game's quests, and it'll give you access to the entirety of the ARR post-game content like The Coils of Bahamut (which is a series of 8-man raids), and The Crystal Tower (which is a series of 24-man raids).
You'll also get access to hard and extreme versions of trials amongst other things.
Finally, you can start chipping away at the Post-ARR quests, which were released in incremental patches after ARR's initial release. For the most part its busywork, but the game will start to lay the foundations of the first expansion's plot here.
I care about percentiles in ultimate
Futas?
I care, greys to blues are still unacceptable.
Game visually looks nice, but XIV was horrible at first release, and I've lived with that thought in my head ever since. I realize they literally spent years rebuilding it, remastering it, and it's a completely different game. I still think of that boring as shit initial XIV though.
Doesn't help I have nobody to play MMOs with these days, and playing an MMO to find people to play with is the last thing I want to do in this day and age.
Tell me more.
>grey to blues are still unacceptable in the literal 1% of the population
if youre really looking for an MMO fix ESO isnt for you. its totally atrocious at endgame for newbies, with a cp grind that will have you clawing your eyeballs out. you think ffxiv msq is bad? think about the grind to getting high enough cp JUST to do the content in eso, then come back and complain about this game
ffxiv does a lot things wrong, but i like its story so i stick with it. ive played near all the MMOs save the korean ones from the time they left beta, and its only now that i focus more on ffxiv than wow because lol bfa is shit
(btw technically swtor had better story but then again lol swtor)
based
Because everyone keeps saying it takes 100-200 hours to get to endgame and because I had the autism to actually test it.
It takes about 60 hours to get to the end of stormblood if you're skipping cutscenes and have the preferred world bonus.
It's about 90 hours if you watch all of the cutscenes, which you should.
You can get to max item level in 100-130 hours.
If you' re grey, green or blue you better have died
blues are fine
greens should only be first clears or people who didn't farm a fight
Leveling 50-70 is dreadful, even with the Lv70 earring. As a DPS, what's the way to make this not so monotonous?
>be healer
>on track for a solid purple parse, maybe even orange
>suddenly a DPS dies
>and another dies
>then a tank forgets to use his mitigations on a tank buster
>other healer has somehow ran out of fucking mana despite not raising anyone
>forced to raise or wipe the raid, I do my job
>more people keep dropping throughout the raid
>at times I'm forced to do no DPSing because I literally have no mana
>green parse
IT'S NOT FUCKING FAIR
Nobody gives a fuck about healer parses shut up and do your job slut.
Alliance/Leveling/Trial roulette and the HW/SB beast tribes during queues. You can do Centurio daily hunts to try squeeze a bit more out, chocobo healer should help you take down shit that outlevels you.
PotD/HoH if you have time to burn outside of roulettes.
Be efficient with time, so if you're the same level as a dungeon, queue it before doing your roulettes to maximize use of rested XP
It is definitely not 90 hours if you do things other than MSQ, which is expected in a theme park mmo
HOW THE FUCK CAN YOU UNLOCK SQUADRON WITHOUT BEING HIGHLEVEL
You need to be rank something in those fucking companies to even start the questline
90 hours translates to how many days now for a typical player? 3 hours a day? A whole month of monotony at least, maybe more maybe less? That's some tough shit you know, when you could be having fun. Real tough shit.
The game is fun before endgame
>healer
>parse
Stopped reading right there.
XIV is a battle mmo, not a quest mmo. You play through the quests to get to the cool and difficult fights. If you can enjoy the fetch quests then good for you, but it's primarily about the big pay off.
based retard
>squadrons that require additional prep
Bring me back to FFXI
most of those things listed are pretty worthless and no longer updated
9001 hours
I was unsubbed for close to two years (I think, got 70 on two classes then quit immediately) came back to what seems like literally endless rested xp. I've gotten two more classes to 70 and am close to getting a third and this rested xp seems like it'll never end. Does it just stack infinitely as long as you're logged off or what?
It stacks to two levels.
you can go there right now and stay quarantined with the other autists
Love live gacha general is worse, they literally shit on pictures of the characters
stealing all these kannas
I love how zoomers are allergic to FFXIV. They should fuck off back to WoW, RuneScape, or whatever their favorite eceleb streamer plays.
I'm juat going to put this into perspective for you.
Stormblood and HW post-launch quest patches combined are about the length of ARR's alone.
xiv is only fun if you make a cute girl and pretend she's your loving gf
Its over, he's catering to RPers. Might as well accept it
youtu.be
This. Zoomers and Millinials need not apply to this game. Trannies and Gays fuck off to Crystal or Aether datacenter. Boomers will stay comfy playing FFXIV on Primal datacenter.
Can you read? He's saying the game needs more sandbox MMO elements instead of themepark MMO elements. It's not about creating content to burn through, it's about giving players the tools to make their content. You MMO enthusiasts should be embracing this, not making fun of this.
its just another WoW clone for ERP
Is gw2 fun or is it just as bad as the leveling experience in ffxiv
I just need something to keep my busy until classic
WHERE MY BROTHGARS @???
I will never understand MMO hoppers. They are the ones that burn out of MMOs the most because they constantly redo the boring skinnerbox grinding.
Fuck off, we're full.
Man you got every other MMO fanbase hating on FFXIV for stealing their players, it's hilarious.
>tfw missed out on getting the fat chocobo
I'm probably never going to get it, am I?
What if I already have a wife?
Go to /r/MMORPG and mention FFXIV. See what happens. You get tons of butthurt replies.
can't you upgrade to arr collector edition anymore?
otherwise you get one for 3000 commendations
then you're lucky and should cherish her because not everyone is that fortunate
Im all for hard content but those %s are insane. Is wows mythic that low too?
>FF14 has a lot of cool outfits and accessories, and I’m sure Shadowbringers is going to bring about even more. Is there any plan to expand the glamour system to accommodate access to more items or even add more slots to the dresser? Will we ever be getting a glamour dresser furniture item for our homes? Players really love glamour!
>The amount you can store in the glamour dresser will be doubled from the original 200 to 400, and the number of glamour plates available will also be increased. These updates will come with the launch of Shadowbringers, but we will continue to update the glamour systems in the future as well!
Oh boy, an extra 200, that's hardly enough for all the shit we have in this game. Get a real glamour log and make it some collectors thing like fishing.
Wait, really? I didn't know. Thanks man.
I'll buy the collector's edition then.
Leveling crafter and resource collecting classes and making gold
>I gave wow:Transweeb edition a try and it was shit
Funfact: did you know MMOs are a shitty genre for actual trannies to LARP as girls and neets to pretend to be people?
Funfact: did you know MMOfaggots are mentally ill?
great blog man, why play something you dont like
That's enough for every class to have three separate glams. And you probably aren't glamming every class.
I don't know why they just don't copy WoWs transmog system. It can't be limitations because Blizzard got it working on a barebones engine that at the time was a 7 year old engine.
200 extra inventory not 200 glamour plates, that would be absurd
>Playing DPS
There's your problem faggot
Grow a pair and tank, or lrn2smoothbrain and go healer.
thats just how bad FFXIV's spaghetti code is
Fuck knows, I want to be able to collect everything similar to fishing log.
>leviathan is open
lamia here
should i move
Yes, I know that.
400 / 24 = 16
16 / 5 = 3
I'm glad the MSQ and GCD gates zoomers out. We have enough retards as it is, we don't need to open the floodgates for more retards like WoW does.
Also if you play Classic WoW, you are just funding retail WoW with your subscription fee and paying for the paychecks for the trannies and SJWs that work at Blizzard HQ in California.
It stacks only for two levels, what you're seeing is the "disparity" effect. If you have one class at 70 and one at 1, the class at level 1 will be receiving double exp until it hits 50 or something. It's how they chose to incentivize leveling more jobs on a single character.
>oh no he's catering to people that want to engage MMO aspects of an MMORPG instead of logging for their dailies
>until it hits 50
This, but to be exact it's until the previous expac's cap. So 60 right now, 70 in ShB.
It's until 60lvl 100% more exp and then it's 50% to 70.
Thanks for that. Didn't know this worked like this.
Man I couldn't believe they actually named this shit Dad of Light. Blew my fucking mind.
Life must be very exciting for you.
It took WoW a decade to implement the wardrobe feature. They had to redo their entire database backend for how the servers manage items. It wasn't an easy or quick feat, it took a fuck ton of time. Also every successful popular MMO uses a different proprietary engine. What may be easy on one engine is vastly difficult on another. For example, WoW is still single core based so your FPS chugs a lot more than should in big raids. Getting it to support multiple cores takes a large amount of reworking of the 2004 game engine. Meanwhile FFXIV can take advantage of up to 8 cores since it was designed for PS3/PS4/modern PCs from the ground up.
which world do you recommend
There's a difference between client code limitations and server code limitations. Learn how MMOs work before you talk stupid shit, retard.
And Everquest 2 had it on launch.
Is there ever even a situation you would use flamethrower as MCH in pvp, or am I missing something?
Someone in primal que for sigmascapev2, I need some lens for a pointy hat.
FFXIV is designed for normies, the game basically plays itself. No, it doesn't get better at endgame. The entire game is you following clearly laid out and basic instructions. If you can do that, then the game is done. Outside of player housing and ERP, there is nothing about the game that provokes you (the player) to think about how you approach things. If you've failed at something, either you are a complete casual who needs to be babied or you are not able to succeed because the game said so.
So how's the US Datacenter at this hour?
I play at this time in JP but want to move there.
Is there alot of people?
ping difference is the bigger issue
>all I do is the casual automatic duty finder content
It's clear you haven't set foot in savage/extreme/ultimate/BA/top MMR feast that requires communicating in PF and playing your best.
On Shatter ice primarily, but there are plenty of other edge cases, like chokepoint control in Seize, on Holmgang'ed/Slow'ed targets in Feast.
It’s dead. Most people are at work or sleeping.
US data center is pretty dead during US 7-10 AM. It is very active every other time of day. t. American NEET
Exodus
Pretty dead during the night and I want to die as someone who only plays during night shift. Like I am going to sleep in like 2 hours.
it's because most people don't even bother raiding, endgame is 25% raiding, 75% erping and collecting glamours
>You will never ever be able to solo Stone vigil hard because of a single boss
So just like WoW. Raiding community is a minority, the majority are people who RP or collect pets/mounts/transmog. I mean fuck Blizzard recently had to revoke thousands of bans because RP'ers were using client side mods to change their characters appearance like futa mods or big tits.
when people try to tell me that endgame in XIV is challenging it's clear they've never played any other MMO
Honestly, that sounds pretty based
Ah, ok thanks. Every time I've tried it they just move away and only get one DoT stack
What MMO is harder than ultimate ultima
The only content that comes close to ultimate is high wow mythics and even the savage raids are generally harder than most content in most mmo's
>tfw Hydaelyn's chosen people
Any race gender combo below 1% should just be banned from the game.
Aw man i wanna play with you fags, JP is nice and all but i feel left out.
you use it when you stun people
Don't forget to report to minfilia at the waking sands
Get into an FC and ask people to run things with you or just make small talk while questing.
It'll help pass the time
Because it was made from the ground up rather than "oh shit we gotta patch it in later but we can't since our server database is fucked up"
Which boss?
He means the turtle which has to be shot with cannons. It is possible to solo it but the timing is extremely tight, as compared to being an easy gimmick boss with four players.
As someone who killed Lich King 25 Heroic with the 5% buff, I can assure you that the Ultimates in this game are pretty fucking hard.
Not the class quests though
>Go to this far off place
>Okay now meet me back at the other side of the continent
>WoW did a free play event in WoW at the same time as FFXIVs fanfest
>Blizzard releases WoW patches around the same time as FFXIV is announcing or doing their patches
>Blizzard implemented some features in WoW people were begging for a long time prior just because FFXIV did it (eyes/head moving with target, relic progression based weapons, more cutscenes in quests, etc)
>Blizzard slashed BFA's price to $40 when Shadowbringers price was announced to be $40
>Blizzard is scrambling to release Classic WoW this summer in order to one up FFXIV Shadowbringers also releasing this summer
>Even Blizzard community managers are going to FFXIV events to shill WoW
Why is Blizzard so afraid of FFXIV now?
>Not realizing you can use BLU to instagib it with missile
>mfw user has played this far without knowing to stun the first diamondback
Why?
I really liked the DRG class quests but thats probably because they are tied expressly to Heavensward and the events/people after it
Teaming up with Estinien again in SB was top notch
Are you fucking retarded or pretending?
I'm playing LNC at level 21 and I'm trying to do a MSQ and a Class Quest but I keep dying during them. They are both recommended level 20. How do I level up more I guess?
The weak fear the strong.
Because XIV already won the war but Blizz are desperate to avoid the truth.
>Teaming up with Estinien again in SB was top notch
Yup
Also fighting with fellow DRG in duty finder in HW was top kino
I want to too but it's depressing seeing like 4 groups on PF all night.
>I'm playing LNC at level 21
DRG main here. You poor soul.
LNC was soul destroying. It does get vastly better though. For me, DRG is the most enjoyable melee DPS.
That's because its all the same: A single player game in a multiplayer coating. You are tired of this formula its simple as that. With ESO you encounter the exact same shit, but even worse, because at least XIV is a still a final fantasy game, where you can get immersed, while ESO has this B-team type feeling in it, and its clear as fuck its just Skyrim 2.0. Some people love it some hate that. I'm not saying its bad, because what it does its good at it, but the problem is what it does is very dull. Its like collecting bear asses, but now you collect DIRE bear asses. Again you already collected enough bear asses trough 10+ years and no amount of seasoning and approaching it from a different view will change the fact that you still collect bear asses. The same is for XIV, this genre completely depleted what it had to offer since 2007. All you get is no to very minimal changes, no ambitions, no major gameplay overhauls, and a laughable amount of WoW clones, because devs play their cards super safe, because they know the audience is a very special case, who they themselves have no idea what they want, but they always demand something.
Check the marketboard. You can select a gear slot or weapon for your job and it'll list items from best to worst for your level. High quality weapons and armour are better than anything you can buy from a normal seller, and you can only get hq gear from crafter players that are selling on the marketboard.
DRG is pretty unique in how much the class actually mattered to the lore of one of the major expansions.
I cant think of another class which is tied so directly into the main events of the story.
go to aleport and head to the house outside to do the mentor quests for the gear, it should be impossible to die in msq quests bro wtf are you doing
SMN. It actually had MSQ progress checks and designed around MSQ progress in a way.
item lvl>actual level
Ah cool, not done SMN. Will give it a go.
SMN like he said. DRK doesn't rely on the events of the MSQ per se, but it recontextualizes them and gives the WoL some actual personality/reaction to the events of the MSQ beyond *pounds fist*.
*shrugs* then *nods*
>DRK doesn't rely on the events of the MSQ
Except for the entirety of 60-70
Will probably be fine just to level it, but I'd suggest waiting on 5.0 to see what changes happen. Right now it's pretty unsatisfying to play. Not MCH tier, but still not great.
*Surprised face*
I imagine DRK's character quest will have tons of relevance to the plot of Shadowbringers.
Too bad I'll be going with GUN first before DRK
That subreddit circlejerks over Kickstarter MMOs and Sandbox MMOs. Both of those are dying so they get livid when they see retail Themepark MMOs like FFXIV thriving.
Success breeds jealousy
Why are you lying?
>Chocobo Racing

I wish, you can play for 3 hours and get a one off, weekly reward which is less than a single GATE.
>english voice is better than japanese voice for ffxiv
is this true or i'm getting memed on by anti-weebs
>Blizzard is scrambling to release Classic WoW this summer in order to one up FFXIV Shadowbringers also releasing this summer
Not only classic, but patch 8.2 with a new raid as well.
They literally did the same with SB and 7.2
In the English dub you need to deal with voices changing constantly as actors come and go.
It's not bad but the JP is still better.
It's not, English ARR voices were horrible.
You can't say it doesn't give MGP, because it literally does. Granted it's not much, but it literally does give MGP.
ENG is better and i'm a weeb.
English in HW was pure kino
Both are really good which is surprising. The dub has the added bonus of having different english accents to signify different races and locations which is actually pretty well done.
Y'shtolas stern yet cute posh english accent is lovely, for example. And Yugiri and Hien have great "Japanese tone speaking fluent English" accents.
I can't stand the EN dub but I'm European and think the phoned in British accents are a horrible fit for 90% of the characters. Seeing a huge, black burly dude and suddenly he start speaking in a nasal Welsh accent ruins the scene.
I'm legit impressed though how many prefer EN over JP, even some weeb friends I know. Pick what you like, my guy. Don't let either group pressure you.
For the amount of GATEs you could have done instead it can only be said that you are losing MGP
English ARR voices were awful with one or two exceptions. Entire character roster got recasted and now all the voice actors are very high quality. Wide range of accents adds a lot of flavour to the world.
Japanese voice actors are super generic and safe. Alisaie in particular is just sounds like a generic anime girl.
The only exception is Haurchefaunt, whose English VA didn't really capture the same feeling as the Japanese VA.
just play dqx bro lol
>Alisaie in particular is just sounds like a generic anime girl
She's supposed to be 16 and not 30.
I wouldn't expect that until 6.0 if the 3 this expansion are received really well and even then they might only start with something like a unique Koryu phase in a four lords Ultimate
have you ever listen to 16 year old girls? some of those bitches have deep voices instead of higher voices
It still doesn't stop her from sounding like every anime girl ever. Plus, real people don't sound like anime.
>real people don't sound like anime.
It's video game and not real life.
FFXIV has plenty of that, but they didn't ban people for it. Clearly Square knows their audience better.
>People respond to this copy pasta still
>A bunch of armour mods use cash shop gear
>FFXIV won't ban mods because it's earning them money
Calculated.
Just because it's a video game doesn't mean you can't have voice actors talk like normal humans.
would have been much better if Domans had a japanese accent even if its fake. Also, why didn't they use japanese honorifics? Its not a problem with Persona series becoming so popular. Why were Ala Mhiggans unique in this regard?
More like Square doesn't have the tools to ban it. FFXIV has no client side cheat detection so people can mod the music or models/textures as they want. Meanwhile WoW has the Warden anti cheat and the Blizzard launcher authentication check.
yes, a girl who spent most of her life in land full of academics and scholars is gonna speak like a valley girl. it would be stranger if she didn't speak in the same inflection as Alphinaud. if you can't understand even these minor subtleties i don't know how you function without having to be beaten over the head with every little thing
Doma is China.
>A bunch of armour mods use cash shop gear
Do you understand that you can apply any mod to any piece of gear with a few additional mouse clicks?
>Tfw Hyur male
Not like this.
Not like this Hyur bros....
The average person doesn't.
Doma has samurai, ninja, and traditional Japanese gods and mythological creatures as primals and monsters. It should have been all-Asia except someone thought it would be smart to add a direct Japan analogue in addition to Doma.
English is surprisingly good, with some exceptions
>Ghimlyt Dark
READY?!
>traditional Japanese gods and mythological creatures as primals and monsters
en.wikipedia.org
Buddy, China had spies as well as Japan.
HAVE YOU THE STRENGTH?
Japan hasn't invented anything, ever. All of their mythology is based on China
And what names and iconography are used for those in Doma? Nevermind that you have chosen to cherrypick an example rather than the fact that every mob in Doma is named after a Japanese myth. Go look.
This is a dumb road to start down, so I'll wait for you to arrive at the idea that everything is based on some prehistoric Proto-Indo-European origin on your own.
Speaking of Ghimlyt Dark, it's funny to watch some of the NPC interactions there.
>Pipin is slashing some garleans knees with his blade
>Aymeric is supposed to be tanking an enemy but he's letting Kanne the healer get hit right next to him and ignores her
>Lyse sits in AoEs or takes explosions but doesn't flinch or say anything
>Hien's LB3 is a darkness looking attack
>No "Ultimetto End"
Into the trash it goes
YOU UNDERESTIMATE ME!
>Gosetsu becomes a Buddhist monk thefore Japan invented Buddhism
You're very silly, you know that?
user, Japan rips everything off. Even their emperors time periods were based off of chinese concepts until very recently, Reiwa being the first ever.
Getting a book and translating it to your language doesn't make you the author of the book
DESU its a wapanese game, they praise just due to the country of origin, it was a bad game at launch and is probably still shit.
The game's incredibly slow start is a fairly common complaint about it. It markets itself more on spectacular endgame fights - though actually getting to the part where you can actually do all that stuff takes some doing.
Yes, but the English dub has her sound like what she is supposed to sound like. A prim and proper yet snarky and cheeky posh girl who went to a top tier school
>the iconography and history of Japanese Buddhism is indistinguishable from Chinese or Indian Buddhism
About as much as you.
Is the story in ARR worth following really? It took me a few hours but I got the next 2 cities and started doing some early raids, but I'm kinda tired of reading all the dialogue, but at the same time I don't want to miss anything good. So can I just blitz through it as fast as possible without worry?
Kugan npcs should have atleast say -san to out character names.
This is why FFXIV is total garbage. The entire early game needs a total rework and the stupid quest fundamentals needs an overhaul.
you can skip through everything and just watch the condensed story on youtube
It's not worth it, just have a vague idea what's happening and that's enough.
>every mob in Doma is named after a Japanese myth.
It's not. Not only do you have zero observational skills but you can't even base your fragile points on solid ground. It's mostly Hindu names, like Dhara, Vanara, Apsaras. You have stuff like Koja, because Doma isn't meant to be any one place exclusively, but its primary source of inspiration is absolutely China. From the four symbols, to the Yanxian spire-like mountains, you have to be both blind and obtuse not to see that.
why is it that every single slut gravitates towards this hat?
Joke's on you, I don't wear any headwear.
but user, think about all the lore! we had good reason to kill mobs, cook it and give it to 3 npcs in order to boost morale! We're the WoL soon to be WoD!
we already had a Cataclysm though. Do we need another? We only have 2 great wyrms left
i want to play this but i dont speak japanese
the game looks so fucking fun
Thank you bros. Also when do you recommend I start grinding for levels?
Stop trying to force your shitty meme.
i would not be surprised if one of them made it to the 1st. Elves someone made it into the Shard until they were killed by Allagans. Maybe these elves were survivors of Ronka?
I really want to get into this game but I miss the comfy feel of WoW.
>meme
#1 Head for Elezens never ever.
It hurts.
give me some bdsm dungeon master glams, bros
Just focus on the msq. Its enough to gear and level you up. If for some reason you're behind a level just go to Palace of the dead
>Spent 2 weeks no lifeing the grind for a Eureka weapon and armor set
Now what do I do until Shadowbringers drops?
Retarded
just use you're imagination. We got plenty
I played World of Warcraft and never got any sort of comfy feeling with it and was more so bored with it. With Final Fantasy XIV, I get that comfy immersive feeling of being an adventurer.
masturbate
Play Final Fantasy 4
this cat is wearing that hat and isnt a slut, checkmate
Your waifu is a slut. Don't lie
>cat
All cats are sluts.
>isnt a slut
>visible thighs

Heh, think again

>"BUT IF I MUST SLAY MY DEAREST FRIEND TO DEFEAT MY DIREST FOE, I WILL NOT FLINCH FROM MY DUTY"
Absolute Kino.
Glamours?
>In JP dub Estinien calls you "partner"
>in EN dub you get only called WoL or Hero
I never understood why they changed that.
It's in their nature.
>I gave FFXIV somewhat of a try and it was horribly boring
This is true.
>what am I missing?
Rose-tinted weeb/tranny/gay ERPer glasses
He calls you the azure dragoon if your job is a dragoon.
>english voice is better than japanese voice for literally everything unless you're a filthy weeb autist
Very true
The Final Steps of Faith.
What a grand fucking name for a trial. Dragonsong during the first always gave me chills. Muh dick
I never felt comfy in WoW even on vanilla private servers. It was just a constant rush of questing and avoiding getting ganked by other high level players.
You haven't lived if you never fought the STV gorilla warfare or Hillsbrad farmer massacres.
i got a 50 dragoon and 50 gladiator and yeah, it got to the point where i just couldn't take the quest bloat to get through the MSQ.
did the twitch prime starter edition. lots of faggots play the game too.
then realized i had to buy the expansion to progress further at that point. don't feel like playing catch up either. the combat didn't even bother me with the global cooldown shit.
and fuck me do they give you too many skills to hotkey
>and fuck me do they give you too many skills to hotkey
That's part of the appeal of the game. In fact, this is probably the only mmo that still gives you more than five buttons to press that make a difference.
Heavensward is free now. You can go to their store and 'buy' it for free
Lalafells really are the best players. That's why Yoshida plays as one during his livestreams and his lala BLM even has purple savage parses on FFlogs (he uses a PS2 dualshock2 controller BTW while people with worse parses play with keyboard+mouse)
i got to level 49 with the free month that came with twitch prime and it was a fucking boring slog the whole way
"It gets good after 200 hours"- the game.
Not with the starter edition that he has, you can't unfortunately. I tried.
>english voice is better than japanese voice for ffxiv
Japanese voice track is a bunch of anime voice actors doing anime voice acting, it's serviceable
English voice acting is fucking horrid, terrible accents and intoning, ARR in particular is horrible, every boss that has voice acting is voiced like a screeching Power Rangers villain, it's fucking awful
ARR is a slog but it really does get better with HW. You haven't even done a synced extreme/savage fight yet I bet.
>thighs
>extremely short skirt
>is a bard
>that slut hairstyle
>with that fucking hat
yup that's gonna be a SLUT from me
>tfw know enough nip to enjoy playing with Jap voices and pick up on subtleties that were incorrectly translated
only thing that hooked me was that it was free on twitch prime, it had some nostalgia too it, the music is good, and i like dragoons
after finding out much shit can be gatekeeped by just simple fetch quest got a bit too much for me and being told the expansions are more of story shit to get to the goods, i just stopped logging in.
Shit, my bad.
literally why does it matter
>but the original translation
as long as the result is good who cares if they portray characters/events completely differently, such as Haurchefant
That's how I feel about all Themepark MMOs even Classic WoW. Those games are a boring slog until you reach the actual important boss fights and have a developed character with tons of skills. I mean that's why Instant level cap private servers exist for WoW and are popular. So you can skip the boring shit and get straight to the endgame raiding fights or PVP.
>who cares if they portray characters/events completely differently
not an answer
>ff14 is boring
>okay
>you should play teso
get the fuck outta here
All these themepark mmo's are follow the waypoint fetch&killquests including teso.
Nael's mother
>as long as the result is good
The result isn't good if the translation is improper. Nuance becomes lost and frequently characters say completely different fucking things in translation compared to the original.
Considering the scenario is written in English and is translated to Japanese, I'm not sure where the nuance is lost in English
It's not even mmo's all these open world games like gta are doing the same shit. Someone should research if wow was actually the first follow waypoint quests game or if gta/mafia/... didn't do the same shit earlier already.
Guys!
200 extra slots for dresser with Shadowbringers!!
XIV IS SAVED!!!
>Considering the scenario is written in English and is translated to Japanese
[Citation needed]
Literally fanfiction
Where did you hear this bullshit?
>Considering the scenario is written in English and is translated to Japanese
But that's wrong you fucking retard.
>Doesn't help I have nobody to play MMOs with these days, and playing an MMO to find people to play with is the last thing I want to do in this day and age.
It's not worth it. I learned MMO communities are just filled with a cesspool of different personalities, usually the worst types
>trannies
>attention whores
>sjw
>neckbeards
>poopsockers
>neets
>weirdos
>power tripping nerds
usually its a combination of those. game just ends up like typical themepark shit that its' not worth investing so much time when everyones doing their own shit.
>characters say completely different things
but if the end result is good then what does it matter if they say completely different shit? Unless you play with nip audio and english subtitles it's a complete non-issue unless the english portrayal is low quality.
Haurchefant is flat out a worse character as portrayed in nip compared to the english bro version.
MMORPGs are built around community. These singleplayer themeparks don't even deserve the name.
Screenshot from sunday
>I don't like people
Stick to singleplayer games then.

I think I'm playing right. I do the Heavy Thrust and then the Thrust combo and then whatever else.
Final Consensus
>Nip for ARR
>Eng for HW and beyond
Not until they give us Taisho era uniform
i like being around like minded people aka normies not the type of shit that MMO communities churn out. but thanks i will instead of treating the game like second job.
RDM is so easy, what the fuck I thought you guys were memeing. And how is it this strong in dungeons? It's ridiculous how fast fights go. And oh I'm sure it's weaker in tranny content, but no one even plays that.
It's never going free, baram is already learning that lesson
I'm not Jeffer, just a screenshot thief
>exchanging money
>for goods and services
Pay nothing, expect garbage
>One of the most hype moments of the game is you standing in an empty box waiting for a queue to pop
How did they do it?
FFXIV is the definition of community. I mean fuck each server has their own rep that WoW and other recent MMOs are missing. Gilgamesh is for tranny raiders, Balmung is for ERPers, Behemoth is for BRs, Leviathan has all the hunt early pullers, Ultros has the memers, Exodus has the mentors that help sprouts 24/7, Faerie has the literal faggots, Malboro has the retarded skill level players, etc.
>You're doing yourself a disservice by skipping them.
No he's not. Why do you people lie and shill this shit. The story is mediocre at best, with tons of dull filler in-between the few "highlights" if you could call them that. I've never seen people shill a game as hard as these cucks do with FF14. I play the game and have beaten all content outside of a couple of savage tiers, but the fanbase honestly makes me sick sometimes.
>decided to level DRG 1-70
>tfw in the shroud during rainy weather doing leves, hunt logs, and leftover low level quests with chocobo while wearing the novice hall set
>It's never going free, baram is already learning that lesson
That's sad to hear. Those TK private servers are complete shit.
The nostalgiafags want to be in high school again and they aren't looking at FFXI objectively. As a game - in terms of mechanics and content - FFXI is the best its ever been right now.
it shines in
I only just now reached 200 slots in the dresser and I've been playing monthly since its introduction, with 10 full glamour plates, every job customized as individually as possible, including DoH/DoL, and even some gimmicky shit like a summer swimwear attire, all without taking anything out to make space.
How the fuck do you guys not find that to be enough room?
RDM is lower middle range in terms of personal DPS. It's easy to play so there's not very much to optimize so you see most people that play it do well. But if you get a SAM or BLM that knows what they're doing then they shit out way more damage than RDM. You'll never reach 60k direct crits as a RDM.
I had a go, all I found was singleplayer CHOSEN ONE questlines, singleplayer level progression, absolutely nobody talking or interacting in public. That's not what a community feels like.
You actually can solo it on a healer. Just keep the ishgard nights alive. He never does his insta kill move if they're alive.
is leviathan the best pick for a new and lonely social autist
Join the world chat channel retard, it's called Novice Network for your dumb ass. Chat scrolls so much on some servers that it looks like a Twitch stream.
sweetie you need every piece of equipment to compete in the glam game.
The FFXIV ARR stories were kind of meh, the class storylines were charming, but the main story quest is kind of lackluster not engaging.
I never played Heavensward, this is a complete 180. The story starts out kind of slow during the build up to Heavensward, but holy fuck it gets good! I never have been so captivated by an mmos story as I am right now. I just experienced
>a smile better suits a hero
These feels were real WTF.
If you come to Exodus I'll be your friend and help you out.
>complaining about 200 extra storage slots
I think it was just a mixture of how smooth the game felt and how grounded leveling was. It just felt so good to grab a bunch of quests in a hub in a chill zone and just run around and kill shit.
One of my favorite memories of WoW was simply leveling in Howling Fjord during WoTLK before school.
But yeah I ditched PvP realms a long time ago. PvE is much more comfy.
That's not true at all. I've played on Cerberus and Phoenix and the game is as community-light as retail WoW is. There's absolutely no reason to interact with people on your server other than joining an FC static, which is impractical and pointless. I'm in a static with people from 3 different servers right now. I talk to someone from Odin more than I talk to anyone on my server.
I'm not complaining, I'm just confused because people were always raging about how the glamour dresser was bad.
I always thought it was a nice addition and it has served me well as it is. I'm happy for more space and plates.
Great, huge twitch channels are where I love to go for all my interpersonal interactions, how could I ever doubt you
I wanna pat Khloe's head
>EU
No wonder. You niggas are weirder than NA and also way more dead than NA.
The glamor dresser itself isn't bad, it's quite good conceptually. Having to warp to a city to use it is bad. The limit of 10 outfits when you have like 30 jobs is bad.
Join a FC or linkshell, unless you're so socially retarded and cynical that nobody wants you in theirs.
That chat is limited to new retards, and burger king retards for a max of 400 people. Do you consider that a massive community?
A pity that mmos are driven by PEOPLE and FFXI doesn't have any.
Literally the only problems with it are that you can't put one in your house and you don't get a plate for every job.
>Exodus
Surprised to find another Exodusbro on 4channel, figured everyone was like a diabolosfag or other tranny servers
...Thus completely defeating the point. A guild chat channel is a very limited kind of "community interaction".
Do you have a different outfit for every DoH/L too?
I am leveling varios jobs to 70 to understand them better. Monk is 60 and I hardly understand its mechanics. How do I monk
The only thing left for me to do is try to get as many minions and possible and triple triad cards. Fuck that, I'm out until 5.1
>Novice Network
I sure love mentors ignoring newbies looking for help to jerk each other off and spam peoples chat logs
You sneer but the only reason I don't is because there's only 10 fucking slots. Crafters have some pretty good class-exclusive AF that I can't even glamor because there's not enough glamor plates to put each over the generic omincrafter robes.
>i don't want large groups
>i don't want small groups
I don't want you in this game. Please delete your account
100 mentors, 412 noobs/resubbers. That still is way more massive than any Yea Forums thread where the majority of people in MMO threads get their social interaction from.
Personally no. But I wouldn't mind people who do, since they do spend time making the individual DOH/DOL sets look unique in addition to the generic sets every expansion. I really like some of the sets.
Come to Exodus friend. We help noobs.
We are a minority here and it's a good thing because it means we aren't being invaded by Reddit or trannies.
Keep Greased Lightning up, Form Shift to your first stance to be able to apply blunt-resistance with Dragon Kick immediately, do positionals when possible
>Crafters have some pretty good class-exclusive AF
Really? Aside from some BSM/ALC stuff they've looked mostly like the typical fare. In fairness I detest the clothing design in general and thank the modding community for making things that are far less drab.
So join a datacenter discord. There's plenty of them for this game that coordinate PVE,PVP,world events. The Primal one has like 4k people
How does real life socialising work? You're not being constantly barraged by noise, but you're also not confined to exclusively talking to your own friend group. It's not that hard to manage if you design for it, but FFIV definitely hasn't.
Would it not be better to use form shift to get a level 1 greased lightning, then dragon kick?
Wait, you want to dragon kick first? I thought you wanted to open with demolish.
Come now, don't you want to look posh?
>Form Shift to your first stance to be able to apply blunt-resistance with Dragon Kick immediately
Have you ever even played MNK?
yes you are constantly being barraged by noise in real life.
what you want is:
>I want to be assigned a group that has to be nice to me
Ignore that retard. He has no idea what he's talking about.
>How does real life socialising work?
By talking to people and going with the flow and not being a picky social autist that complains too much.
I have a FC, a linkshell, and a sizeable friends list. I can choose to play solo or talk/group up with people using those resources. Ultimately it's up to you what you do with yourself.
You want to do dragon kick first for the other players in the group that do blunt damage.
MNK feels like shit to play ever since Tornado Kick became part of the regularly-accepted rotation
I don't get what your problem is. I fell into all sorts of communities without even trying. An FC invited me and I made long lasting friendships over 3 years. I regularly see people talking and memeing it up in Limsa Lower decks, I had a couple of people reach out to me because they were my neighbors and we always talked about housing and shared our designs and shit. Frontlines pvp has enough regulars that we recognize each other when waiting for matches to begin and emote each other and cheer each other on while fighting.
The only thing I had to reach for was a raiding team. What exactly does XIV need to compare to what I can only guess is some kind of chat room with 2d avatars?
I don't give two shits how 'nice' the community is, I'm just pointing out that all the games that do this properly provide an environment where your impact on the wider community can MATTER. You can be known, you can be meaningful, outside your guild hugbox. A bigass global chat doesn't do that.
>all these amazing glams
>over the years
>wasted because glamour system is class restricted
>I can wear a bikini
>I can be stark naked
>but fuck me if I want to wear BSM's awesome bandanna/goggle combo
Yes, it does. How are you supposed to become server famous if the server doesn't talk to each other?
There's no shame in being socially anxious. There are many methods to accomplish success in the social world, and all of them include not being a god damn sperg that thinks the world should revolve around his needs
>other players that do blunt damage
Monk is the only one doing blunt damage worth a damn. White and Black mages are not hitting stuff with their sticks.
You want to actually learn how things works before giving advice to other people.
Start with fucking Demolish and shut up
What you describe literally goes on with Exodus server. Different people are known for different things through server community. You wouldn't know because you're a nobody sprout or you play on a dead server.
You can just stick to the old rotation and do fine. It's literally a 2-3% difference.
>White and Black mages are not hitting stuff with their sticks.
Why the fuck not?
>wanting TK to be useless
why?
I said I didn't like TK, not that it's not useful.
>Come to Exodus friend
I am. Mentors use it too much as a chat board rather than a thing to actually help people, unless that changed since a few months ago. I find sprouts are more helpful than anyone because they give a shit and need content done, mentors just got their crowns to show off.
but it's cool why
It's a tragedy. The crafter outfits get as much detail into them as combat class armor.
Welcome back you blistered ass nigger.
It wasn't useless. It was a way to spend your GL3 when you knew the enemy was gonna either die soon or fuck off for more than it'd take to refresh GL.
>I was just pretending to be retarded I swear
Nah bud, you're a fucking knob
Because dumping Greased Lightning is antithesis to everything I've played before and everything before you acquire it, regardless of whether I can get it back in a short timeframe
Remember when FFXIV threads on Yea Forums 4 years ago would barely break 60 unique posters before the bump limit? Look at the unique poster count at the bottom of this thread right now.
Amazing how far this game has grown and being talked about.
Except I'm not the guy that took the piss about other party-members with blunt damage, come down off the high from your own farts.
I'm just here because I have no content to play.
Because then it would be slapstick.
I only ever use TK when last mob is close to dead because why not and when boss is about to do a 30 second attack where you can't hit it.
There's a few troll mentors but if you blacklist them then the chat quality goes up significantly. It's just like Yea Forums where if you filter 3 words then discussion quality gets noticeably better.
I actually dislike Riddle of Fire more, like it's a completely random skill added to its kit
>Gain attack speed with Greased Lightning
>Suddently lose attack speed with Riddle of Fire
What? Why? The whole MNK kit is so fucking strange
I think MNK is low-key like MCH where they don't really know what to do with it
Ha-cha-cha-cha
If I recall right Yoship said it was to make the job easier to play. They wanted MNK to do more damage but did not want to put in GL4 because that would be too hard.
Well what's your name, I want to know if you aren't one of the shitters or not
>ywn wear the gatherer 340 hat as a combat class
FUCK YOSHI P MUSOSAI AND THE KUGANE CASTLE SAMURAI WEAR IT AAAAAHHHH
If he meant it'd make it even harder to jam oGCDs together thanks to sloppy connections then I'd agree.
>primal
>it still goes down every other day
Crystal here, I'm enjoying playing while you can't help but 90k
That fucking dogi with the obi and gourd flask are beautiful for the ronin look they want and then we CAN'T WEAR IT WE ONLY GET A TRIMMED-DOWN VERSION MALE-ONLY IN THE GOLD SAUCER AAAAAHHHHHHH
Carpenter, from the ffxiv instagram.
how am I supposed to get good at higher floors of Savage if I don't have any friends and a non-native English speaker? PUG is almost always a fucking miserable experience and I quit my FC because it was full of faggots
also
this shit gave me some hope, I'd love to see more fleshed out overworld shit, in fact, I was thinking of resubbing just to focus on The Hunt, is it worth it?
You mean the Rathalos fight? It isn't going nowhere and unless they put some restriction you'll be farming it easily at level 80 in Shadowbringers, so don't
>because it was full of faggots
This game is mostly full of faggots. When if comes to raiding, you're fucked either way. Either you spend 8 hours sitting in PF or join a static and you have to be on at a certain time on certain days whether you feel like it or not. I personally start giving a shit, if I don't like the glam, I don't raid anymore.
just want a sword dps class bros
i didn't sub to be a tankcuck
Red Mage!
Meiko Mouse
You have one.
You will take Samurai or Red Mage and you will like it
a smile better suits a hero!
T_T
You either join a guild/group or deal with having to slowly pug your way through history.
At least your English seems fine, if you are worried about having an accent you shouldn't be and I severely doubt anyone would really care.
Well I don't recognize your name so I guess that means you're good
t. Kirito username
Last time Primal went down was during the DDOS attacks that affected everyone in NA. If you're having 90k problems then that's your ISP/tracert
We're on page 10
Later you fuckers
I know right, always wish DRK was dps
Level cap 99 with 6.0 we will gain Freelancer to freely slot any combination of skills, and the ability to have a sub-job and all of its skills up to half the level cap in the vein of XI, please look forward to it
Yes, we are. Now is the time to post the lewdest, sluttiest lalafell women.
How did they make me care about an mmo NPC. MMORPGS aren't real story games.
Closest I've seen
I fucking hate people that have this mount
It's always annoying cunts, too.
I dropped wow after 14 years and picked up 14. I always loved 7, 9 and 10 so I thought I'd give it another go. I had played the original release that was horrible before ARR. I tried again during AAR and I completed the MSQ. Didnt play HW but now I'm back, boosted a tank and skipped HW so I can get through SB before xpac. Usually the start of xpacs are the most fun. I don't like coming into a mmo late in an expansion where I have no clue what's going on but everyone else expects you to.
FFXIV is a main series Final Fantasy game first, a MMO second. If you hate story/character development when why are you playing a fucking Final Fantasy game? A 30 years old series thats known for slow combat and story.
Ruined by shrek tranny, though.
>skipping HW
ughhh omg i know a cat would look so much better -_-
Imagine quitting a game during its tutorial then complaining there was nothing amazing going on.
FF is a boomer franchise. I don't know why zoomers insist on playing on it or shitting on it when it's clearly not catered to them.
