Why is holy magic also ''eh'' when compared to arcane in video games
I guess they usually do make for some alright support but I want blasting shit like arcane
Why is holy magic also ''eh'' when compared to arcane in video games
Because that's what it was like in D&D.
Also you're posting on a Christian Imageboard. Way back when Jesus healed the sick and made food, not chucked lightning bolts.
Yeah that makes sense
Sad, you didn't experience Dark Souls 2 on release
Yeah I didn't even finish dark souls 2
I heard though that they did lightning bolt spam really good and then just decided to take it away because From hates faith builds like always
Fire Emblem is pretty much the only game I can think of with an offensive Light/Holy magic based class, and the light magic Monks use is badass.
With zombies being so popular, it's pretty sad that there isn't a game where you play as a spellcaster Priest character smiting the undead
I'd like to see a video game with different religions affecting spells, something like the covenants in dark souls, but based on real religions.
>Christian
Heals, support etc. Basic clerical stuff, maybe some turn undead.
>Pagan
Elemental fury. I imagining Perun and Zeus' thunder, something to that effect.
>Vedic
Reality warper.
I like the way you think
that sounds very cool my man
Kind of a based idea. Going along with OP, though, there's some pretty intense destruction shit in the Bible too.
That's more or less how Domain spells worked in the later D&D editions.
>Worship god of fire
>Acquire fireball spell.
That's just slapping religion names onto classes that already exist in most videogames.
I think you can make one in the recent pathfinder game by picking the right domain, problem is that playing blaster with vancian isn't that great
>1 After that again he went through the village, and a child ran and dashed against his shoulder. And Jesus was provoked and said unto him: Thou shalt not finish thy course (lit. go all thy way). And immediately he fell down and died. But certain when they saw what was done said: Whence was this young child born, for that every word of his is an accomplished work? And the parents of him that was dead came unto Joseph, and blamed him, saying: Thou that hast such a child canst not dwell with us in the village: or do thou teach him to bless and not to curse: for he slayeth our children
Yeah, you kinda can't have your messiah throwing power word kill in your good book.
Yeah, it's pretty much cleric, druid, wizard
I feel that. At least it gets better as you level up though to the point where it doesn't matter that it's vancian
Especially if you're able to do bullshit stuff like in baldur's gate 2 with project image and wishing your spells back
if it's holy it ain't magic, it's miracles
magical energy
divine energy
different source, different rules
Well, clerics traditionally have heavy armor, shields, and real weapons. They don't need the same level of expertise, supplies, or freedom of movement. Straight magic casters usually have a stick or a knife and the clothes on their back.
Depends on the setting so i'm just going to leave it at that since you're right and i'm right
I feel like faith isn't magically as strong as sorcery because holy characters have just a tiny bit more physical ability, reflecting the hardiness needed to travel to spread the faith and presumably fend for themselves along the way
Vs the glass cannon style of a guy who literally stayed inside studying magic all day
divine is a magic source in a lot of games
not canon faggot
magic is a tool created by man to solve problems
divine magic
divine powers are only intended to give a little nudge, since the gods want you to solve your problems yourself and suffer through trials and tribulations in their name
this is why clerics get a decent hit die and bab in d&d
oh my god move past d&d already
