Which game had the better combat system?

Which game had the better combat system?

sekino obviously
anyone who tells you otherwise is a filtered casual. from software can do no wrong my guy

MGR had a better message

Nioh had more complex combat, but MGR had more enjoyable combat.
They are both good, but cater to different things.

the posture system is pretty idiotic. In what world do you just smash your weapon against your opponents weapon over and over again? It makes no sense.

you mean the best memes

Sekiro, not that the other combat system is bad, the stamina system shat on older action rpgs and sekiro now shits on stamina

MGR was definitely way more stylish, Sekiro is just kinda meh, I see what they were going for but it's not super fun.

uh wow it's called based and redpilled combat. you wouldn't know because you're a casual. go play pokemon or something kid lmfao. based miyazaki

Revengeance. Parries are about standing ground and counter attacking. In Sekiro you sometimes have to stay on the defensive after a deflect and the feeling isn't as cool.

Their weapon is coming at you, you're hitting it just enough to go past you instead. You don't have to be stronger than them to redirect their force

Nah, most of the time you attack them relentlessly and they basically keep blocking your attacks until their "posture" is depleted and you can finish them off. My problem is, this style of combat has not only no basis in reality, but it also isn't really fun.

The beauty of 1v1 combat is outplaying your opponent, tricking him, deceiving him to hit his weak spot and killing him.

Metal Gear Rising

Why does he crush the spine? Is he not dead yet? Why is thew spine glowing?

have you ever blocked a sword attack with your sword? imagine if a guy kept conistently attacking you and doing a bunch of shinobi arts on top of that, you would end up breaking your guard or getting the sword knock out of your hands.

MGR but I had more fun with Sekiro's combat overall.

and here we have the cock mongling softdrone in all it's bloom

If someone smashed your sword over and over again mindlessly, there is no actual benefit to that because first of all his weapon is at risk of breaking or being damaged but if you are skilled you can parry his attack and cut him down in the same motion. There needs to be some form of strategy to how you attack, in Sekiro you smash the attack button over and over again until you see the indicator to counter.

He does it to absorb the life force of the killed enemy

>why isn't this giant monkey trained to counterattack my shinobi blade?? So much for REALISM

MGR pushes ahead due to better balancing.

What do you mean giant monkey? There are plenty of other samura/ninja type opponents in the game, the strategy is always the same.

Sekiro

In terms of gameplay, MGR is pretty much bottom of the barrel combat compared to other action games. Even God of War had deeper combat.

The only things MGR did well are memes and music.

Every enemy in MGR is a robot or cyborg that has a spine full of electrolytes. Because Raiden's cyborg body has no self-repairing feature, he has to rip out these electrolyte spines and douse himself in their juices.

I can't believe this retarded argument is actually happening

If MGR is bottom of the barrel, which it's close to being, then Sekiro is what the barrel is sitting on. Everything about Sekiro is entry level.

>irst of all his weapon is at risk of breaking or being damaged
lmao what, he wields a weapon called the mortal blade i think it'll be fine
>f you are skilled you can parry his attack and cut him down in the same motion
game would be too easy then

Sekiro is good but it's too fast for me.
I prefer the slower nature of the Souls game. But this is just preference, the combat is solid.

MGR. Soulsborne and Sekiro are great games but if they had a Bloody Palace mode it would be incredibly tedious.

>kung fu is a lie
Even if it's overstated, if it didn't work it wouldn't have persisted for so long

MGR
If only it had realtime weapon switch and camera not focused of Raiden's ass...
>Bloody Palace
Meh, Boss rush mode is more than enough

I’ve noticed that the A team always designs new combat system and the B team capitalized on it with the next game.

>A team makes Dark Souls, the staple of the souls formula. B team makes DS2.
>A team makes bloodborne fundamentally improving and switching up the souls formula. B team makes Dark Souls 3 using the bloodborne engine with substantially faster gameplay than the prequels.

A team switched up the formula again designing new combat systems that came to fruition with Sekiro. We can only assume that the next B team soulslike (whatever it is) will feature very similar combat mechanics to Sekiro and will most likely include the ability to swim and dive.

Suck my dick faggot ass nigger cunt

yikes

go cry about 9/11 some more you fucking boomer fag

MGR, easily. And this is coming from someone who isn't even a huge fan of the game. NGB shits all over both of them though. Fromsoft is at least two generations behind in terms of combat innovation and design. They really need to abandon the limited, clunky formula they've been building games upon since DeS and give the player some options that actually feel exciting and powerful. Sekiro still has too much "Souls" design written all over it for me to be able to include it in the god-tier action pantheon.

"Kung fu" is a pretty nebulous term. Martial arts existed in china for centuries but there was no standardized practice of wushu until the 20th century. Kung fu is just a western word that usually is interchangeable with wushu but unlike wushu does not refer to a specific modern sport. There are hundreds of styles of wushu and kung fu if you use the terms generically and many are more performance art than they are practical defense tools.

>NGB shits all over both of them though
How so? I keep seeing people say this but when I ask how it's better they usually just resort to insults and calling Sekiro easy. I would love to hear an actual argument.

>Epic Armstrong dindu nuthin XD!!!
>Dat Raiden's ass Samuel is my husbando~
Remove the 9gag meme and MGR is just your typical brainded but flashy button mashing action game. Go to any MGR thread, fantards never discuss about the gameplay itself. They always talk about Armstrong and Raiden and whatsoever. The game is literally the epitome of style over substance.

If you are really this sensitive, you should get off of this site.

i-im not sensitive you're just a zoomer! haha i won

MGR by far. It’s varied and challenging enough to keep you coming back for more. Sekiro just feels like a no upgrade, one attack button challenge of MGR. Extremely boring yet challenging with no real reward, appealing only to people who like to make games harder for no reason.

How come Sekiro threads revolve around shitty bait? Has the game already faded into obscurity to the point where it can't thrive via organic threads and discussion?

shut up sekiro is the best go back to bloodborne faggot

But i already got perfect gems and plat BB, there's nothing more the game can offer me

Simply comparing how many options are available to the player (and enemies) in combat, NGB obliterates Sekiro. Tons of fun movement options and weapons with robust and useful movesets, ground and air combat, combo potential that isn't DMC-levels of excessive, evasion is based heavily on movement, crowd control and management of armored attacks along with dodging/blocking/parrying, enemies are relentlessly aggressive, the environment is like a giant jungle gym for Ryu to navigate in mid-battle, multiple difficulties with new enemies/bosses.
It may be hard to tell what's happening but all you really need to do is watch a video of a competent NGB player to see why it did "Ninja" combat better over two generations ago.
