Don't think i've seen a character go from "Based" to "Pathetic" in such a short period of time

One cannot judge others without subconsciously judging yourself. The more critical you are of others the more critical you are of yourself.
why is the online so fucking shit?
>implying arthur was based at all
OP got destroyed 2 minutes into this mess lmao
You didn't let your Arthur look like an unkempt pauper, did you Yea Forums?
I didn't bother playing the story because I bought it for the online lol.
>he didn't buy it so he can stalk and abduct qt whores in first person
lmao @ your priorities lad
Same but in reverse
based zoomie
>le edgy grimdark all black cowboy badass
>smoking a cigarette after a massacre
Could you BE more generic?
thanks brah
cringe
Who thought making the protagonist sound and talk the way he did was a good idea.
never thought of that. nice.
Who thought making you sound and talk the way you do a good idea?
So you turned Arthur into a redditor?
>make big wide open sandbox
>every story mission is extremely linear and fails you if you step off its rigidly predetermined lines
why?
How can user ever recover?
Christ
It's even worse online
>make big wide open sandbox
>whenever other players are involved the game turns into a deathmatch
unless you want to go hunting, but they keep nerfing that
Why should an open world necessarily translate to open missions? The game's not trying to be New Vegas, don't play it as one. Anyone that complains about that has either never played a R* game before or are unironically retarded enough to not be able to follow simple instructions.
>Don't think i've seen a character go from "Based" to "Pathetic" in such a short period of time
this is the most autistic sentence i've ever seen.
neck yourself
Series copied ever single story beat from RDR 1. Saw the consumption bullshit coming from Chapter 2. Chapter 6 itself was just a fucking slog and is the main reason I will probably not return to playing the game any time soon.
>Yea Forums = Blondie
>Reddit = Angel Eyes
Based Reddit
While I think he's a faggot for parroting someone else's tired opinion like it's his own thought, rockstars mission structure is insanely outdated.
>saw the consumption coming
What could have done that, I wonder? Could it have been being covered in the blood of a man who was very clearly sick of an extremely fatal disease from that time period?
>open world has linear mission structures
Literally even BoTW has this issue dumbass
>t. babby who is too much of an anti social loser to form a pussy and go hunting some minorities
LMAO
It's bad, predictable writing, so I'm not sure why that post sounds like it's implicating me in something.
>predictable is bad because I say so
>Series copied ever single story beat from RDR
Elaborate on this boah. Because i'm thinking you don't know what a "story beat" is and just used it to make it look like you criticism had weight.
By the way, RDR1 copied every single "story beat" from virtually every revenge Spahgetti Western ever made. RDR2 is way closer to Wild Bunch than it is to RDR1
PvP with autoaim is a complete joke and waste of time
>predictable
It's called overlying doom you absolute moron.
>RDR2 copied an already copied story
Woah...... Who woulda figured a video game would draw inspirations from movies that were conceived before video games were even a thing.
Based retard
it is in the sense of writing compelling stories. This is literally writing 101
Compared to which other open world games
RDR 1:
Start off on a mission, get to the end, you die and play as another character. Dead character was "redeemed" in some nebulous way, even though they're fucking dead
RDR 2:
Start off on a mission. Shit goes down, you end up dying/sacrificing yourself for the person who is going to succeed you in the post game. Hammy vocal music intensifies
Wow, that was so fucking difficult to put together.
20 dollars have been deposited into your Rockstar shill account
I fail to see how he got "destroyed". I agree with the poster but when you judge yourself you point out your flaws and work to fix those.
So you're only doing yourself a favor if you learn from your mistakes.
So no, OP didn't get "destroyed".
I actually was writing a long winded response but then realised that it would be a much more simple if I asked you for your favorite franchise instead so I can also do the typical Yea Forums thing of oversimplifying the fuck out of it the same way you did.
Much easier that way
Anyone remember RockstarFAGGOT? He claimed there would be three playable characters and John wouldn't be one. We know he was levit and John was made playable at the last minute. Any bets on the other two characters?
>implying Arthur is some fancy pants, Gucci loafer wearing, city slicker
Fuck off.
But it's not. They do linear missions, have always done so and will continue to do so. They've never implied their open world absolutely HAD to translate to open missions. I just don't get why people start complaining now when all their previous games have the exact same structure.
>RDR1 = Play as a bounty hunter tracking your old gang down as you act an integral piece of its destruction
>RDR2 = Playing as an outlaw evading the outlaw trying to ensure your gang survives
Literally the only comparable things are the setting and fact that you die at the end. Absolute room temperature IQ tier analysis on your part laddie
Yes, I judge others negatively and judge myself positively.
>Implying he isn't
>Implying Dutch's /fa/ didn't rub off on him a little
>Implying the moment he found out his waifu Mary sent him a letter that he didn't haul ass over to Saint Denis an entirely new wardrobe
>implying he didn't watch The Good, the Bad and the Ugly as a kid on Dutch's DVD player and idolize the fuck out of Angel Eyes
Lmao @ your broke ass
>I'm not going to respond to your rebuttal, just make you say what you like so I can poke holes through that so we can continue this insipid debate ad infinitum
Is this true
rehashed writing for a rehashed ending. Sorry, but my point still stands
>Not letting out your emotions so you can be healthy mentally
not true at all
Why do people think that Outlaws all dressed like Bill Williamson? Most Outlaws were fashionable as fuck because they thought they were better than all the schmucks around them, just like Gangsters (not the nigger gangsters, the mafia)
But the writing's not rehashed and the ending has entirely different connotations, user
Your favorite franchise also has rehashed writing and a rehashed ending, hence why you're too chickenshit to name it. Cope
>still hasn't named his favorite game because he knows that his retarded arguments are applicable to literally every single game story out there
Lmao
>different connnotations
Imagine moving the goalposts this hard, and excusing shit writing for a multi billion dollar corporation. Hope you have stocks in the company or something.
But I'm not moving goalposts because it's the first time I've replayed to you you fucking retard. On the other hand you just proved you're baiting so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
>It's okay that this company's writing is shit because other company's writing are equally shit.
The mental gymnastics of Rockstar shills
Based is pathetic you foolish fool.
Dressing up like this doesn't fit his activities at all.
You only see in others what you see in yourself. Traits that you like and dislike strongly are usually a reflection of yourself.
>Implying the moment he found out his waifu Mary sent him a letter that he didn't haul ass over to Saint Denis an entirely new wardrobe
I did this for my boah, too. But he still put boots on over his suit because he's a goddamn hick.
This character is the only redeeming feature of RDR2. The story is garbage repeated story beats missing vital information and constantly tells instead of showing. The gameplay is whatever. We as the player have no reason to believe Dutch's lies and will always be at odds with Arthur's motivation because we are never shown why Arthur will follow Dutch to oblivion. Story seriously needed more exploration of these character bonds before everything went to shit.
Every other character in the game may as well be cardboard cutouts with a dialog machine behind them. They offer nothing in the grand scheme of things.
>It's okay that this company's writing is shit because other company's writing are equally shi
I never once used the word shit. I used the word rehashed, because literally every game is "rehashed" or influenced in some way or another.
Deep down you know this, hence why you're so reluctant to name your favorite game because you know your argument has no legs and extends to movies with universal acclaim in regards to their writing. Take Sopranos for instance, do you think that show has shit writing just because it's a walking pile of Mafia tropes and rehashed situations?
>boots on over his trousers
I do this too because I want a good balance between "fancy boah" and "outlaw boah"
>repeated story beats
Why did you just ironically rehash your prior comment in this thread , user-kun?
>A terminally ill man realizes his life was at best meaningless and at worst the world was made even shittier by him and his mentors being in it
>He expresses remorse
>Muh emotionless cowboy is threatened
>Why did you just ironically rehash your prior comment in this thread
I am a different user. RDR2 only copies the death aspect of RDR1. The problem with story beat copying in RDR2 is more to do with the fact that the main gist of each chapter is
>gang fucks up
>move to new location
>create more shit
>repeat
>literally haven't seen the term "story beats" in months, perhaps years, used to describe anything
>see it twice in one thread spanning 30 minutes
>IP counter didn't go up
Sure thing boah
>gang fucks up
>move to new location
>create more shit
>repeat
But that's not even remotely true.
Chapter 1: Nothing gets fucked up, if anything, things finally start looking up seeing as they successfully robbed a train and escaped the harsh environment
Chapter 2: Nothing gets fucked up, the Pinkertons just naturally track down Dutch's gang (because they're fucking Pinkertons) forcing them to move to a new location
Chapter 3: They actually get fucked up (jack kidnapped) and forced to move
Chapter 4: Nothing gets fucked up, they finally try act on Dutch's plan
Chapter 5: Plan goes to shit
Chapter 6: Gang is imploding, Arthur dies
Epilogue: John trying to start up a new family life(a real family)
Epilogue 2: Gets revenge for Arthur
Literally only 2 chapters follow the "story beats" you described
Of course the IP counters not going to go up if I reply to you.
They fucked up in chapter 2 after causing too much attention in town, and it was Leviticus who tracked them down not the pinkertons.
I don't think you know how 4chanX works user.
The IP counter didn't go up from this post
That's not why they moved though
They moved because of the Pinkertons - youtube.com
I couldn't like this game, I have no idea why.
Side missions often bugged on me and the open world for me was really empty as the events wouldn't trigger.
I get scared to afk-auto run with the horse just in case I do miss an event
Yeah I do actually, it's unreliable as fuck evidently
