In an alternate world there's an OP posting about how convoluted Digimon's system is and how simply based Pokemon was. That it was a shame that Digimon became so big.

Is the point that the two are the same and digimon is just needlessly more complex for the exact same result, but features thing like recolors for no real reason?

If you follow the arrows starting from the top left then there's no real choice involved, Relemon just finishes as Kuzuhamon. Renamon either splits into Kyubimon or Kyubimon but purple who evolves into Taomon or Taomon but purple and eventually turns into Kuzuhamon or evolves another two times before turning into Kuzuhamon again.

Either OP's point was needless complexity doesn't necessarily make anything better or he just picked a really bad image to try to make some kind of comparison point that digimon is more interesting.

Digimons are literally only Data, they can literally change their body composition completely to their needs once they go through an evolution by getting more and more data, in Tamers when they fuse with their partner they get only get more or less a bigger boost while their partners are in control inside then.

Every generation adds different methods of evolution. 2 had armor and dna, 3 had that weird bio merge thing, 4 I think was the spirit armor instead of a partner or whatever the fuck.
