Snipers ruin every multiplayer games they are in. There's no counter play other than don't be seen. One hit kill power over long distances have no place in online multiplayer games.

You know which games had the most OP snipers?
Killzone 2.
You didn't even need a headshot to kill a player: a bodyshot was enough. The only class that could survive was the assault.
Pyrrhus was the worst map for that. And it doesn't help that they had a scan that put a blue cross on every single enemy.
Or, you know, stop running straight at the sniper expecting him to not shoot you in the head.
There is nothing a player can do once a good sniper sees them, no matter how good of a player they are.
100% true, if you say otherwise you propably have an australium sniper rifle you fag
True to an extent but you don't run into godly snipers that often for it to that big of an issue. If you're getting sniped enough to make this thread you probably aren't very good at whatever you're playing.
I want to fuck the sniper.
I want to fuck the Heavy.
>There's no counter
Spy
But yeah, if you're fucking trash at the game like OP, there's no counter
Shit taste
I want the Spy to fuck me
I played a lot of Killzone 2 MP and I don't remember that lol
Just start spazzing out and moving left to right when being shot at by a Sniper. It'll throw off their aim and confuse them.
Spy is not a counter. Snipers in tf2 have Razorbacks and can snipe at close ranges.
Personally speaking, I find wrangler engineer nests on payload maps to be the worst thing that could ruin games, closely followed by toxic weeb spies.
You know you can just shoot them in the head when you get close enough instead of relying your one shot back stabs, right?
That's what good spies do
>dude let's put in a sniper class in a game about close range combat
>let's give them high and safe perches on every map where they can see everything on the map so flanking them is impossible
>let's make the sniper's range longer than the standard range of throwable bombs so you can't even throw a bomb in their direction without getting sniped
>let's make everyone's hitboxes huge as shit so you just have to aim in someone's general direction half the time to get a kill
Scout has become the primary Sniper-counter. Unless if the sniper has the precision of a surgeon and the scout player runs in a predictable line, he's perfect for it.
Fuck EML
Nobody uses the Ambassador anymore mate
>give them a laser pointer that's supposed to allow the victim to react before they get instakilled
>completely bypassed by simply aiming in a different direction while it's charging, and then hitting the enemy
>network issues means it's possible to not even see the laser at all before you get sniped
I totally agree
IM A SNIPER SUCK MY DICK
I JOIN PUBS GET 10 KILLSTREAK THEN DIE TO A CROCKET, CALL EVERYONE A NIGGER, REPEAT AND RAGEQUIT AFTER THE THIRD TIME
AND I DO THIS EVERYDAY
FOR 6 HOURS
AND AT THE END OF THE DAY I GO ON OMEGLE AND GET SO FRUSTRATED I END UP PLAYING AS A GIRL BUT THEN I DONT GET OFF AND I GO TO /D/ TO JERK OFF TO GIRLS GETTING CAST IN CONCRETE AND THEN GO TO /TRASH/ TO SEE THEM GET FILLED WITH INSECTS AND GET EATEN FROM INSIDE
AND THEN ONCE I CAME
I GO BACK TO PLAYING SNIPER
AND IVE BEEN DOING THIS FOR 6 YEARS NOW
Maybe if the Sniper is retarded
BUFF THE CLASSIC
>sniper scope glint looks like a flashlight during the day, and spotlight at night
>bullets have velocity so if you're doing any sort of unpredictable movement it's impossible to be hit
>can only shoot a round every few seconds, and have to reload after several rounds
>are usually immobile and vulnerable to counter fire from a vehicle or MG or another sniper
I almost never get killed by a sniper. You guys just suck.
Play tf2
I don't like mechs.
snipers were actually really important because they were the only thing other than a doombringer that could stop some shit eating scout from capping your flag at 3000km/h
*really important in Tribes Ascend
Some games (tf2 is probably one of the best example) feature snipers that are virtually impossible to take down without a coordinated team effort because of how efficient they are.

>There's no counter play other than don't be seen.
Overwatch unironically balances snipers really well by providing a number of rush down characters, including one who can deflect a sniper shot back at the sniper.
if you use "MEDIC!" or "Help!" you bring your hand up and cover your face, which can be used to block your head hitbox from a headshot
this literally only works 1% of the time
>die of bodyshot anyway
gee real helpful
works on my machine
if you do it while entering a sniper zone you don't even have to try and predict, it's saved my life multiple times
>Tribes sniper
Never 5get
>play a class that has over 150 hp
or
>get overhealed
not difficult
>I should have to switch to one of 3 specific classes because of one player
If I wanted that kind of experience I'd play Overwatch
I still laugh at this
if they're so good that you literally cannot avoid them and they're aimbot-level of good like all hypothetical Yea Forums posts are, then yes, having a medic would be a good idea
>Killzone 3
>Sniper's cloak in level 3 never runs out
>Kills with silenced weapons don't break disguise
>Unlock the silenced machine pistol
>Welcome to easy mode
And if by chance you got your hands on the silenced AR's or smg's other classes had then GG
then he just shoots the medic or full charge headshots you
Spy vs Sniper is hilariously asymmetric in favor of Sniper
>shoots the medic
behind cover
>full charge headshots
MEDIC!
*blocks head hitbox*
Sure you didn’t mean conduit 2 with one hit kill X-ray snipers?
INCOMING ENNEMY VEHICLE
Broadly true. The issue is that sniping is an extremely linear occupation, in ways that are not only very obvious but also more subtle and profound. It shares this attribute with the sort of heavy machinegun play performed by Heavies: Personally static gameplay that involves a lot of waiting and careful timing before quickly gunning down a target in a split second. Any competent enemy would learn to avoid this, and so as both classes the amount of real action involved between players is minimal.
Now the thing about this comparison is its relation to another one: Heavy and Engineer. We are all familiar with the notion that Heavy is a living Sentry Gun, and that is broadly true. For that reason, Sniper's job could honestly be a sort of Sentry Cannon if you will, and would be fairer to fight against and more interesting to play as (being the Engineer who occasionally Wrangles the gun and otherwise just sets it up and maintains it).
Alternatively, sniping gameplay is interesting against unintelligent enemies that aren't great dodgers. In other words, AI opponents since humans learn fast or drop out. So sniping, and big machine gunning for that matter, are fine so long as there are automated, unintelligent enemies coming your way. This can be incorporated into a multiplayer game.
- A number of weak automated mooks on each team in addition to the player-controlled classes
- A class that specialises in controlling and perhaps creating automated mobile servants, like robots, drones, maybe mecha-beasts
Ultimately there are ways to make sniping and sniper classes a fitting and engaging part of multiplayer class-variant gameplay. It just requires a little ingenuity and incorporation.
There is a counter you fucknut just don't fucking walk in the open and use your brain
HOHO HAHA
just throw a grenade at them lol
Get better movement and take better engagements. It's really difficult for even top level players to consistently land headshots on targets that are constantly and unpredictably changing up their movement with strafes or even crouches and crouchjumps at times. Hell, just looking in a different direction can throw off shots since most of the models are hunched over. It's especially difficult to land those shots when you're being suppressed by grenades, flares, and having soldiers rocket jump on top of you. Jiggle peeking corners is also really difficult to deal with. The AWP in CSGO is a OSK bodyshot and the characters are slower but you'll still regularly see pros whiff or struggle to perform with it because teams have good movement and know how to force them to take bad engagements.
t. Someone that regularly gets called a hacker and kicked in pubs
It really depends on the game, at worst they can kill a game though. The worst game I played was heros and generals, any player could get a one shot body-shot sniper rife and hide in a bush all game watching travel paths. Absolutely blew. Half your team was not playing objectives, medium-range combat was impossible, and the game was just sprinting house to house hopping you're not deleted by the hand of god. Planetside had a similer problem, but it is relatively easy in that game to get get shot and at least they need to aim for the head. I feel like in a lot of games devs feel like they need to add a sniper class instead of wondering if they should. The main problem is that so many people choose to be snipers they can really throw off how the game plays when they are around and make everyone else sit in buildings and give up on going outside.
>snipers never have reverse falloff so a good one can fuck you mid range and even close with some luck
Le fair and balanced instant kill luck flicking character XDDDD
