No one has been talking about this game for months beyond the occasional thread laughing at the cover, now suddenly in the last two days there have been a dozen threads discussing it. There has been no news posted to trigger this uptick in discussion. Things like this genuinely make me believe Nintendo (and other companies) pay interns to shill their game on websites in the lead up to announcements.

That said, I think the premise looks stupid, I think the box art is atrocious, I think the bowling pins animations from the only gameplay video we've seen so far are terrible. I did, however, already preorder the game because Fire Emblem games tend to be pretty enjoyable even when flawed.

Been a fan since 2003, this is the first one where I feel bad about getting it day 1. It looks so fucking bad. As much as I hated Awakening I still found there was a lot of excitement and confidence to be had with Fates's trailers. This one doesn't even do the effort of looking good before release

Having blank slates sounds great, the only thing I'm worried about is that there won't be a reason to not just put everyone on a horse or whatever.

Honestly incredibly disappointed this was the effort they put in. Especially given how the presentation of Fates was brilliant, as was Echoes.

No idea. I am kind of guessing they had Koei Tecmo just port over their Fire Emblem Warriors work into Three Houses, and never bothered to improve it much beyond that.

I mean if you look at the pre-rendered cutscenes (not the cutscenes rendered in real time that everyone keeps posting webms of), then they're straight up beautiful. So someone on the developer team clearly knows what they're doing in ways of visuals. We just have none of it in the actual game itself, and it beats me why.
Like I am wondering what's stopping the game from looking like the pre-rendered cutscenes at close to all times. Even if you were to make a case for it being above what the hardware is capable of, which I wouldn't be able to confirm or deny, I would still wonder why the game doesn't look more like the pre-rendered cutscenes, than however it looks now. It's a mystery to me too.

Gladly however I never played Fire Emblem for the visuals and close to everything else we've seen of the game has been exactly what I wanted out of the franchise moving forward. I am pretty hopeful.

The game would lend itself well to evolving the base conversation system, with the hub world and marked passage of time, so the characters could be given conversations that actually reflect the world around you for once. Myrrh shouldn't need to use her Dragonstone on everything, 50 charges is plenty to finish the game if you're not a brainlet. Though if you go into it thinking you can get another Dragonstone you're gonna get fucked, I agree on that.

Fae is actually the best dragon for being extremely useful due to be able to abuse the dumb AI and FE6 is a game where you need to be perpare to play dirty to stay alive. Tiki is great but FE3 is pretty easy outside of Chapter 20 without warp, Myrrh is trash since you get loads of great units in that terrible game and Nowi is a bad character from a bad game.

I've always hated them, though. The others weren't forced on the player all that much. They showed up in the story from time to time and that's it. This one's going to be in your head constantly talking to you. I'm not interested in that.

It doesn't even feel like Fire Emblem at this point. Done with this franchise.
