The Krypt is completely fucked up and complicated with its grind, the new gameplay systems try to encourage footsies but don't really fix the core of why MK9 & MKX played like shit so it just makes matches slower, X-Rays are now a comeback mechanic, and the Variations are so fucked that of the 2 (not 3, 2) defaults were all there was in tournaments the balance would be completely screwed.

People are ignoring that NRS games just don't play well because NRS made slightly less attractive female characters than usual this time. Their last 4 games had issues with women looking bad. If anything, most of the faces are either in par or slightly better, barring Sonya who looks like Ronda now.

At least getting pic related was pretty cool.

This, it isn't more footsie based you just have less options. You can't unga with lots of armoured moves and shit. Now you unga with 1 or 2 safe strings, while your mixups are all highly unsafe while not all that damaging. Unless you pick a top tier which are like a simple MKX character. The neutral isn't very engaging, I don't think strings work for this type of style. In Tekken when you are playing neutral game you'll generally rely on a series of pokes, strings or moves are either risks or get stuffed by side step etc. MK11 your best pokes are a very small handful of strings (3 at best) and you are discouraged from doing anything else. Even these safe strings are sometimes blown up by instant block. This doesn't lead to a varied neutral, it is a bit stilted.

I still think the game has potential to develop into something better, but it won't be the game that fanboys tried to sell it as. More likely though I see people getting bored, there isn't huge amount of variety as your options were cut. With NRS patches as they are likely just killing the top tier and then adding broken DLC.

actually playable fighting game netcode in 2019, so yeah maybe. There's some good deals for like $45 floating around. the fighting is very easy to pick up on but learning to use meter efficiently is sort of just tedium in execution.

It is riding the line between simplified and just dumbed down. Not sure which side it will land on but I'm leaning towards dumbed down cause stuff like meter management is pretty much out the window. Characters have a lot less strings but are still based on a rushdown style. You only get 2 tournament variations, which only give you 2 or 3 moves. The kustom system has gotten no play as you can't use it on ranked. This creates an odd scenario where some characters lack their best moves while others have a shitty move pool in general.

Retards like you don't seem to understand. Fortnite does this exact shit and it is EXACTLY how they make so much money. No you can't be an immediate whale, but when you make better drops so hard to get, and nigh impossible to max out for every character, the store introduces what is known as FOMO or the Fear Of Missing Out. Is that super rare scorpion mask on the store that you grinded for 100 hours to not get on the store? Better shell out some cash, while you're there why not pick up another item or two, it's not like they're going to drop anyway...maybe you should check the store tomorrow too just to make sure you don't miss anything....

online is the best out of all mk games, single player unfortunately is awful (and i don't mean just the story), but i'm sure they'll fix the awful krypt and bad towers in a year. however, do not get it for switch. the port has been mangled. even the pc port isn't that great. ps4 has the true gameplay experience if you are really interested.

The game isn't designed to be played in single player. It's designed such that you let your AI grind out towers for you, then use the currency earned in that process to use a slot machine or RNG merchant to obtain unlocks.

Once you complete the Krypt, you only have about 40% of each character's available unlocks, if that. After that, you run through Towers and rely on RNG for the rest and obviously none of that is designed to help you practice or get better at the game since the modifiers and custom movesets you'd use in Towers -- if you play at all and don't just let the AI do it for you -- aren't applicable in Ranked.
