Same reason people obsessed with sex.

because of big titty waifu and sex mods

my waifu lives there

Because of my waifu. I also like scenery and I can immerse myself in the world with updated textures and shit. If only I could find hi res vanilla armor textures for UUNP...

i was wondering the same thing, the game is mediocre AT BEST but some guy made a video where he pretty much hit the nail in the head when it comes to skyrim. Skyrim has ugly graphics but is a beautiful game, visually at least, when you're not looking at details, it's fairly easy to get immersed into the world, that being said, that's the only thing skyrim has going for itself really, it's one of the only open world rpgs where you can make whatever character you want (to a certain extent), and people like roleplaying in games.

TL;DR
if you're into roleplying you're gonna like it, if not then you'll find it shitty

It has garbage roleplaying though. Quests can barely be done in different ways and almost every quest revolves around going into a dungeon and slaying enemies. Not to mention how bad magic is

La abominación...

Its easy to play and does not require you to think beyond following an arrow while keeping your character from dying.
Its the first "rpg" many people have ever gotten into since its a game from a genre most casuals woulnt bother trying out until it was made easily accessible.

>"50% of role playing is in the player's head" t. Josh Sawyer
Linearity of quests is nothing in comparison to preset race/gender/class/personality/voice of your character.

peak downfall "gamer" awakening

>its a game from a genre most casuals woulnt bother trying out
lmao rpgs is the most casual genre ever

shit taste

>he says this when Witcher 3 exists

For some reason Witcher 3 always gets a free pass, even though it's just as casualized as Skyrim if not more so.

Because its unironically a good game and the definition of rent free.

Because it's a more polished game, from the writing, to the graphics, even the gameplay ... Every the music is on point in Witcher.

BECAUSE THE WORLD IS SO BIG, BRO
YOU CAN DO ANYTHING
AND GO ANYWHERE
IT'S SO EPIC

CDPR are actual cultists. Their reactions to TW3 downgrades are borderline mental.

Music in TES is unrivaled.

>to the graphics
It looks mediocre for a 2015 game. Looked better pre-release though. The gameplay is also braindead. Especially in comparison to the first Witcher.

I actually wonder myself. In a lot of ways it's inferior to Oblivion. The Nords are one of the least interesting 'races', the cities have shrunk to ludicrous levels The faction quests are less interesting, with the 'fighter' class forcing you to becoem a werewolf even if you have no interest or are already a vampire and want to stay one. Half the meshes and textures are extremly low res. A vast part of the upper map is just ''water with the occasional iceberg and sunk ship" and beach. The civil war especially is handled terribly and the 'battles' are a joke.

I'll admit the shouts are fun and some of the areas are well designed and beautiful-ish. The music is always nice in TES. But these alone don't explain why it exploded to such popularity.

Fallout 4 was an abortion of a Fallout game. I say that with all the seething disappointment of a two-decade fan of the franchise. Yet I would prefer to start a new game of FO4 any day of the year than do another Skyrim run.

FO4 is worse than Skyrim in every way desu.

Oh, and dragon fights are fun a few times, and then just become a damn chore. Alduin should have been the size of a city, an actual dragon instead of a wyvern, and required actual strategy to defeat.

There’s so many different kinds of mods that autists can live out all of their weird fantasies.

>an actual dragon instead of a wyvern
oof

>le I'm hardcore because I quicksave in-between clunky menus meme

I can give you writing but the rest? Lmao
>two button combat
>janky as shit
>downgraded graphics
>generic music (and there's apparently 500 bands in every town yet they only can play one song)

The music in TESV is indeed really good. But the witcher 3 is easily rivalling it.
As for the gameplay, come on, you can't say that. I mean, I love witcher 1, way more than 2 or 3, but the gameplay was garbage. It's not what made the game good.

Because they're virginal zoomers.

I didn't say it was the best, but definitely better than Skyrim.

Dunno, it's a pile of dogshit without mods.

I disagree in everything except the voiced protag, and even Bethesda were forced to verbally admit that was a bad idea, or at least executed badly. I'll also give Skyrim it's more fantastic areas, which is to be expected, because it's fantasy and can push more boundaries.

The gunplay and combat feels fun and fluid, and companions can actually hit things. Wheras in Skyrim I could be swinging a great-sword around or throwing giant fireballs that ate half my mana and it would feel like I was swinging a ruler or throwing a paper ball. Boston downtown is really one 'big' settlement that is also a warzone, you can find beds and settler in random locations all the way through, with Diamond City only being the safest and a hub. I can swallow that easier than I can Solitude which is a capitol city of maybe a dozen buildings. Then there are the companions which have actual character arcs, generally a personal quest, comments on quest progression, and some a romance that is more than 'wow, I like your necklace, lets marry'. I could go on, but since I suspect you stopped reading on the first sentence it would be a waste, because I suspect you're simply salty about what I said more than interested in why.

Also, fuck you for making me 'defend' FO4.

La luz extinguido

el rostro de la muerte...

This, nobody plays vanilla.

FO4 sacrificed its cities to give more layouts for custom settlements. Which is the worst most tedious mechanic ever. That alone makes it much more shittier than tiny Skyrim cities which are at least handcrafted and interesting.

beautiful user. that's great work

Fallout is dogshit, especially under Bethesda. I'd rather buy Skyrim again than try and beat Fallout 4 again.

nice thinking user. thanks for the positive FO4 memories-- this board poisoned them and made me hate the game but, you're right, i actually liked it okay. it was one of my first ps4 games

I thought the same until I realised I was thinking of the small locations like Diamond City and Goodneighbor like I would Vivec or Leyawiin. Think about Downtown Boston in the game. It takes up a vast portion of the center map, *it* is the city in it's entirety. All those raider gangs that hold all those buildings, carefully decorated in ways it's easy to miss as we shoot our way through. The hold outs of the Gunners. The places held by Super Mutants. Dead zones infested with ghouls and bugs. All DC and GN represent are safe zones and wallked off communities within the larger city teeming with (admittedly mostly hostile) life.

In TES settlements are walled off traditional towns because of the monsters outside and because muh Bree and Baldur's Gate. In Fallout 4 the monsters ARE the people.

Your post is bordering on coping and shilling. No. Those aren't cities. They're just generic areas with generic enemies.

It comes down to point of view. Yes, they could probably have made the walled communities bigger if they hadn't spent so much time with the shitty settlement system, but there really is value in taking a step back and trying to look at Boston as what an actual city would looklike with no goverment, law, or much of anything. Every little warzone is a 'community' warring with another 'community'. Every raider gang owns their turf. It's a melting pot of life and a warzone at the same time.

When I run from DC, to Goodneighbor, to Bunker Hill, I've never 'left' the city. I've just left safe parts of the city.

Pete Hines tier retardation there famalamb.
