Sea of Thieves is and has always been good, contrary to hivemind think here an on youtube. Lacking in content at first sure, but the core of the game is great and perfectly designed for a particular type of person.You have to be able to enjoy just sailing around, moments of excitement spread out, and player interaction.

Any opinions on the new story campaign they've added? Is the writing quality classic-Rare-tier?

I've only done 2 of the missions so far, but yeah the writing is kind of goofy but enjoyable. Listening to the skeletons talk about shit while you sneak up on them is entertaining.
I play solo 90% of the time and still enjoy it greatly. Occasionally run into another person who will chill with me. Last summer was great with the skeleton ship waves though, formed alliances and talked with almost every group I came across.
