I'm fine with this even as an "allied race" but the problem is I know you will have to grind for months just to play as one. You will probably have to be Alliance too, cutting off a very easy way to get players invested in or try out both factions.

The whole point of allied races is that they were meant to be low-effort. Which is why they're mostly reskins and tauren-but-with-antlers. Kul'Tirans and Zandalari being the exception since they're actually important in the expansion.

I recall they announced recently that they were planning on allowing players to hide more armor slots in the future, so that you can have chest/legs pieces not appear on your character like they already allow with head/shoulders. Now that I think about it, this probably isn't a coincidence.

Armor is mostly a flat texture applied directly over the existing model, simply replacing the one that is there for the skin. So, to answer your retarded question, no, if someone opted for the full quadriplegic look for their mechagnome, no armor would display on arms, hands, feet, or legs, as the textures used for the various armor pieces could never display correctly on the robotic limbs. Something to note is that not all mechagnomes even have replaced limbs, much less four of them.

Sometimes all you can manage to get is a compromise. Blizzard isn't going to go full-blown race again this expac, and it's doubtful that fucking anyone gives enough of a shit about wrath-era mechagnomes to justify the amount of work it would require to bring them up to the standard of the modern player models, so you get what you see in the OP, which is more than nothing.

They would have more in common with Blood elves than Night elves. It doesn't make sense that they join Horde though. They should have just not joined anyone. Allied races should have been a way for horde players to play as alliance looking races and vice versa. It even seemed that was going to be the direction they were going with void elves and nightfallen. The lore doesn't matter anymore, so why not let people who play horde because that's where their three friends who still play the game are play as the race they want to regardless of the story. Instead allied races have become a way to introduce better versions of existing races to get people to pay for race changes.
