Gimmicks and crutches don't make GenU better than 4U. GenU has a better early game compared to 4U but can't compare to its G rank. World doesn't even have a G rank, and its endgame is based on decoration luck rather than relic luck. Once frostborne comes around it might be better than 4U.

FU was the most refined game of the 2nd generation and the last game to not have charms or any other stupid multilayered RNG horseshit besides maybe rust/ancientshards, which were easy to savescum anyway
P3 was the only game where I had fun gunning, and even though it's largely superseded by 3U I still had more fun with it than World
World has a good game at its core but it's burdened by a sparse, shitty, and uninspired roster of monsters, gimping the absolute best feature XX added(transmog), continuously recycling the same boring ass iron and bone weapon models, having one of the worst hub areas in the series, and being generally dull and easy outside of a small handful of artificially beefed up frontier monsters at the absolute endgame
Maybe Iceborne will fix it
