The anime adaptation? Well, yeah. I thought it was shit the moment this happened.
And don't give me that "Haha, it was funny" crap. During this part in the games, it was a serious case about how Edgeworth thought he was guilty of his dad's murder only to find out his respected mentor did it. Here it just turns into a joke. Not to mention Maya going several buildings down and getting the decisive evidence in time when the whole point of the original game was that she thought she didn't even contribute meaningfully. It just completely shat on what was supposed to be happening.
