I'm playing with my N3DS again after almost a year and I'm having a blast.

I'm completely hooked to MH4U again and was going to install some VC goodies this afternoon.

PLAY THIS

Attached: yo-kai watch 3.jpg (433x395, 84K)

I just got downloaded MH3,4, Generations and Stories. Never played a MH game before but have a long flight tomorrow. Looking forward to it!

I already bought this, will play it when my RPG exhaustion is gone. Does it improve the formula?

Do I need to play 1 or 2? I have 2 on my console but never played a YKW before. I was told to skip 1 and go straight into 2..

also play this fucking bullshit of videogame, you gonna love it.

I picked up a N3DS recently after being completely disillusioned by the original at launch. the N3DS is a much better system especially now that the 3D actually works and hacks are available to make it region-free.

Gimmick or not, can anyone recommend some games that take advantage of the 3D feature? I'm guessing Senran Kagura for starters. I'm also interested in recommendations for games that feel like old PC games. You know, trying out new concepts with unnecessary complexity.

While I'm at it, I imagine there's a whole plethora of great low poly stuff on this system that I just don't know about. I played Attack of the Friday Monsters and it was just perfect from an aesthetic standpoint.

I bought one recently while never owning a nintendo console before. Out of all the games + DS games I could play I only play animal crossing right now

Then play MH4U first. It's easier than MH3U and it doesn't have the gimmicks Generations has.

Dont drop the game in the first two hours, as the game is more complex than you might think, but you'll get the hang of it.
I've put over 500 hour in these games and I learn something new every time I play.

Have fun, you're in for a blast.

Attached: 1536195371723.jpg (180x192, 16K)

Don't feel bad about it, that just means that you're playing one of the best 3DS games.

MH4U was so fucking good. This motherfucker right here is never going to be beaten as best "big boss" of the franchise. Amazing every time.

Wish it had gotten a Wii U release.

Attached: 9d4c4963d6d22947b1af3f237c817139.png (1600x941, 2.7M)

I've been playing MH since MHFU like a lot of people and 4U was just fucking magical, man. Ancestral Steppe might be the best starting area in the series. Absolute fucking pinnacle of soul. I still from time to time think about restarting MH4U again if only to experience the early game another time.

Attached: 1550027855057.png (1118x1050, 459K)

>Wish it had gotten a Wii U release.

>they ported MHXX for the Switch instead of MH4U

Thanks Capcom, very cool.

I have 100+ games (3ds, retro, ds) installed with a 64 gb SD card. Just finished Xenoblade

football rpg with stands and armors like saint seiya travel in time playing with dinnosaurs, nobunaga oda, janne d´arc and etc... also a fucking ton of postgame

a masterpiece

Why is the 3DS so fun, bros? I unironically think it’s one of Nintendo’s best consoles ever.

same here, best catalog ever

DS catalog was better though, 3DS doesn't have good metroidvanias.

How is that a problem when you can play the entire DS catalog on your 3DS?

Yeah,improved combat and QOL shit

Amazing game with 100s hours of content

You can play 3 directly, but 2 is great also and deserves to be played

Attached: [Leopard-Raws] Youkai Watch! - 01 RAW (TX 1280x720 x264 AAC).mp4_snapshot_12.17.jpg (1280x720, 129K)

Basically this The fact that you can play the entire DS catalogue in addition to the 3DS games plus even more with hacks is what makes the system god tier.

>Fantasy Life 2 is a shitty mobile game that mostly reuses 3DS assets
Damnit Level 5.

I actually don't like the Steppe all that much. It's kinda empty and a little bland, aside from the autumn ruins area.
I vastly prefer Misty Peaks over every other starting map.

It really does not get any better than 4U, does it? Fighting Seltas Queen in the Ancestral Steppe was the hypest shit for me for some reason. Its rage roar sounded so badass with the music.

Fuck, I miss getting together with my e-friends and doing challenge missions or farming (more like trying not to get killed by) Rajang, or Elder Dragons. I had a special set for trapping and breaking the fucking monkey's horns. Just, amazing times. I put 500 hours in the game and do not regret any of it, because if Monster Hunter's got something great is that it is the one series that manages to make grinding engaging. If you kill monsters fast, it is because you've cleaned up your act, gameplay and equipment wise, not because your stats have leveled up.

Attached: 1551148046279.gif (480x270, 2.35M)

I wish Front Mission 1st was remade on 3DS instead of DS, it would have been the best game by far.

Attached: image.jpg (1106x1439, 1.37M)

That's fair, I simply really enjoy the aesthetic and the variety of areas. If there's anything I'd criticize it would be the goddamn rock climbing area, someone was stroking themselves a little too hard with showing off the verticality.

That area was fine, as long as you didn't have idiots chasing the monster back and forth across multiple elevations. If everyone just stays on the same platform, and let the monster come to them, there's no need to climb.

Whats the best one to begin with on 3ds?

3 team ogre attack is the best of the saga but you enjoy it better if you play the trilogy because they are the characters of the previous ones in the world cup. Pretty epic.
The first GO is garbage and Galaxy didn´t leave japan

GO, then Chrono Stone, then Galaxy (this JP only)

Inazuma Eleven 1・2・3 (JP only) if you want to play the first trilogy (6 games) or the DS versions that released in EU

Attached: 1557300506831.png (470x503, 304K)

I hope you guys are enjoying your 3DSes. Personally the system's library never really clicked for me, other than Assault Horizon Legacy which is a great Ace Combat and totally worth your time. Meanwhile I'm on my second Vita, this one is CFW'd and it's been great expanding what an already capable system can do.

A full 3D remake would have been neat in all honestly but I get the feeling they'd cock up the game balance by introducing newer mechanics like tag team attacks and supply drops, lord knows FM1 is already a horribly unbalanced mess.
>dual MGs on a MG proficient character (like Royd)
>First
>Speed
>Double
>Duel
Enjoy your 100-0 full break OTKs on anything less than large/boss units
There's a cheesy setup with missiles too but I never messed with them much because MGs shred everything and anyone with Ziege picks off whatever's left

The Vita is fantastic too and, despite all the memes, is more alive than the 3DS.

Both are great systems and I can't wait to see the smaller Switch version.

I'm considering picking it up again this summer so I can finally play through an Etrian Odyssey. Love the games but I always quit 1/3rd in. Also I think my CFW is a bit out of date but that probably doesn't matter.

The reworked Chameleos fight in 4U was fucking awesome.

>Bombs over Gogmazios
Still haven't beaten this quest.

>when he starts flying and firing his laser randomly

That's usually where the carts start happening

Ideally you want to ground him the moment he flies up by firing that huge cannon.

Didn't know Europe was still getting English Inazuma.
So those are all boys right?

>expecting shitters to bring marcoal
>expecting shitters to even have marcoal unlocked

That's why you should be the one on the cannon duty.

anyone played style savvy?

Forever gratefull for having all those EO and SMT/DS games.
youtube.com/watch?v=ohAiFqvZkvE

Loved how atmosphere and plot of that game managed to be both occult as hell and a saturday morning anime reject at the same time.

I've been thinking about getting a 2DS XL, they are really cheap nowadays, but I don't wanna pay for games. How's piracy? Just like the DS, get an R4 card and you are done? Or with a custom firmware maybe? Can I play online with pirated games?

Attached: 81ZayfQlSNL._SL1500_.jpg (1500x1400, 332K)

Yes.
You missed out on the golden age though, when you could simply install the games from Ninty's servers for free. Now you'll have to hunt down the cias.

Don't buy a N2DS, they're awful. Buy a second handed N3DS XL instead as they cost almost the same.

You don't need any Flashcard, just set the custom firmware and you're ready to go. And yes, you can play online with pirated games.

Go to and search the HBG thread to know more about the CFW install proccess.

shota everywhere but you can make too a OP team of cute and funny

The homebrew scene seems a lot more vibrant, too. Back during my time with the 3DS it seemed very piracy-centric and while that exists on the Vita of course, there's much more in the way of enhancing and expanding the system in other ways, plus quality of life improvements.

>Go to and search the HBG thread to know more about the CFW install proccess.
No need, there's already a full site for it:
3ds.hacks.guide/

This is why the DS and 3DS being underpowered pieces of shit was a good thing, low budget JRPGs could still be made and have effort put in where it mattered the most.

These types of quality games are probably dead now that Switch is the only alternative. I'm still holding out hope on Etrian Odyssey coming back, even if they need to compromise by gimping the mapping feature a lot.

Attached: screenshot-2281.png (600x400, 255K)

3DS isn't really an attractive system for homebrew applications. Also it sucks that we never got DS piracy on it without using a flash cart.

>it sucks that we never got DS piracy on it without using a flash cart
We did, but the compatibility isn't 100% yet

i just want to go back to sharing friend safari codes for shiny's, building my team, wonder trading and buying cool jackets and hats in X/Y

honestly the most fun i've had in a videogame since Fable 2 came out

Attached: 400.jpg (213x400, 49K)

>Also it sucks that we never got DS piracy on it without using a flash cart.
Yes, it's possible.
Look up for nds-bootstrap and TWiLightMenu++. It works nicely and it gets regular updates to support more games and fix bugs.

>latest bootstrap update
>"Pokemon Dash now partially boots on both DSi and 3DS!"

Nice, didn't know that. I've been out of the loop on CFW for a while but last I checked the consensus seemed to be that DS games wasn't happening.

What am I looking at?

Pretty much this Also, how does Fantasy Life compares to AC? I've been wanting to play it, since I get bored with AC real quickly. The game looks comfy af, like an portable " offline mmo".

Attached: 983793287.jpg (400x240, 42K)

I accidentaly broke my 3DS' cartridge reader months ago and discovering this was like a miracle.

Try it as soon as you can, you won't be disappointed. Some obscure games won't work yet, but most of them will and they run as good as the retail cartridges.

I've tested the Twilight Menu a few weeks ago. Yu-Gi-Oh! 2011 (which didn't work on my flashcard), FFTA2 and a bunch of other stuff worked just fine.

Vita homebrew sucks horse cock though. I've yet to use a homebrew app on it that doesn't crash constantly.

>offline mmo
you summed up Fantasy Life perfectly. While it can get grindy, it's pretty comfy and charming and tons of fun with friends. Also the music's great youtu.be/MeBUrvSJf8M

Is it worth it to get a Vita with MicroSD card adapter for playing PS1 and PSP games if I already own a hacked PSP?

Mine's been pretty stable, in my experience.
Absolutely. The dual analog sticks and sharper screen make for a much better PS1 experience, plus you can get trigger cases that use the rear touchpad to give you your missing triggers back. Depends on the games you're playing of course how useful that all is.

And any OFW is hackable now so I don't have to worry about that when purchasing?

>tons of fun with friends
How does it hold up if you play alone?
I've been wandering the same thing. Most Vitas that I've found were on 3.70, so I ended up getting the PSP again since I had sold mine a long time ago.
Quick question: can you use TRUE analog control on the PS1 emulation on the Vita? The PSP only remaps the D-Pad to the analog, which is even worse than using the D-Pad itself.

Attached: 2837298374.png (500x459, 269K)

How does it hold up if you play alone?
it's still fun. And you can even bring NPC with you

At the moment at least, yes. An exploit for 3.69/70 was just released.
Of course you can. The analog sticks default to being analog sticks, though I think you can bind them to other things if you really want to.

3.70 is hacked now.

The only problem is how fucking grindy it can get with the drop rates on the items you get after the >10 minute matches which you can't speed up. Grinding spirit coins was absolute hell, as was having to recruit the entire 15 6 member android team just so I could recruit their captain, who the hell thought that was a good idea in a game with limited recruitment slots?

Pic related was the most based end game unit, prove me wrong

Attached: Gamma_taken_over_by_Zanak_(ep_18).png (616x349, 280K)

Vita homebrew is fucking fantastic and I haven't experienced any crash. Unless you're talking about emulator, I agree those are awful. Specially Retroarch.

Gamma is a beta
Beta is a alfa

I did not have problems with the drops, it was fun to make an effort to get my favorite players from all the games and break them completely because here you can change the talents and techniques so that competitively practically all the players are viable even willy glass can be op. amazing game

I'm mainly talking about apps. Utility things like the overclocking tool and such work pretty well but good luck with much else. The Ereader, the AM2R port, An Untitled Story all crash like no one's business for me. Probably a few others I'm forgetting

4U is fantastic save for mount mechanics and the very late game grind of GQs and Apex. I actually prefer Generations/Ultimate more because mounting is better and I don't have to grind expeditions to find monsters I need since they're not in the standard G Rank list. Also no Apex. I really can't stand Apex. Also they've yet to top Gore and Shagaru in terms of monster design and mechanics, but Valstrax is damn close.

Attached: 1471114801091.jpg (1067x800, 710K)

AM2R's 'port' isn't really a proper one from what I recall. It's essentially just Undertale's executable, but with the game's contents injected and swapped out since they share an engine. So it's probably not the best reference point.

That's weird as fuck. Definitely doesn't seem janky, aside from the crashing of course

>Just like the DS, get an R4 card and you are done?
You're fucking retarded.

How do the mounting mechanics differ between the two? They seemed pretty much the same to me, although I didn't really spam mounting in Gen like I did in 4U with that game's insane insect glaive

Sounds fun enough to me. Thanks user.
So I heard. May get one in the future.
Really? Like real analog control? Even if I'm not interested on that many Vita games, that alone would make it worth it.

When I bought my new3ds there was an offer for a bundle. The only mildly interesting game in the list was Starfox but since they ran out of copies I ended up getting Inazuma 11 Go Light. It's been years and that cartridge is still untouched

user is correct. Back in the day you would download from the eShop for free, but now you need to install the games. It's not drag and drop, you have to download the cia and it takes a while to install, depending on the size of the game. You don't need flashcards, for neither the DS or 3DS games. Follow the guide on 3ds.guide and NEVER use a video guide. They tend to get outdated real quickly.

It works but that's why it's a little rough around the edges in ways a proper port wouldn't be. Pretty cool though.
Yes really. It's not going to add it to any games that predate the dual analog/dualshock but for games that support it, you get the full range of inputs. You can also use the touchscreen or rear touchpad as the missing L2/R2 buttons. You can even get something like pic related, the Hori trigger grip, that gives you physical buttons to hit the touch points.

Attached: 61Gf7aUqW%2BL._SL1000_.jpg (1000x1000, 94K)

Nice. Thanks user.

Goddamn I miss freeshop so fucking bad
Finding/downloading/placing/installing cias is fucking ass to go back to

Total bullshit, N2DSXL is far more comfy and better than N3DSXL.

N3DSXL
>Often has shitty speakers which can't handle high pitched sounds and high volume
>Heavier
>Can't close completely

Difference is you can actually continually attacking the monster while it's mounted so you're not watching your best friend play by themselves for 10 seconds. In Generations/Ultimate attacking the monster while someone else has it mounted increases the threshold bar so they won't get bucked off as easily. Honestly it's the best way they could've handled it because now mounting isn't a hindrance and if everybody cooperates it can end a lot faster.

Attached: 1444867525847.jpg (711x800, 544K)

>piss filter on the screens, much worse than any TN screens I've seen on any 3DS
>no 3D effect
>you'll cover the speakers with the palm of your hands
>overall it feels like a cheap plastic toy easily breakable
>does everything a N3DS/N3DS XL do but without the 3D effect which you may like it or not, but it still a plus

I've purchased every single 3DS model out there and the N2DSXL was the worst one I've owned by far.

I agree that the N2DS is lighter and feels nicer when you hold it, but that's all.

Was curious about this series for a long time, I bought Psychic Specters on a whim and I was legit surprised how much I enjoyed it. One thing that annoyed me though is how much content is locked if you don't have the previous versions.

That said, I already bought 3 digitally (because fucking nintendo decided to only give this a limited print run) and I'm just finishing up some stuff in 2 before moving on.

Whoops. Was meant for

I actually have "piss filter" on N3DSXL
>anyone uses 3D
>babyhands
It feels cheaper, especially the hinge

I also had almost every model and I miss N2DSXL the most.

So 3DS has a video player where you can enable 3D?

Yes, but I've never seen it work

Is hacking the 3ds difficult? How likely is bricking the console?

Can I use my R4 gold pro 2019 card to install Custom firmware?

I want to play those 3ds Zeldas but What if I fuck this up/ it takes ages to get hacked.

Attached: B.png (300x250, 32K)

Can you read and follow easy steps?
If yes, you can't fuck up.

>Is hacking the 3ds difficult?
Not if you follow a guide
3ds.hacks.guide
>How likely is bricking the console?
very unlikely as long as you have the backups
>Can I use my R4 gold pro 2019 card to install Custom firmware?
No, but once you have the CFW you can use TWiLightMenu++ to play your R4

>Is hacking the 3ds difficult?
Nah.

>How likely is bricking the console?
You won't brick your 3DS if you follow the guide word by word.

>Can I use my R4 gold pro 2019 card to install Custom firmware?
Yah.

We both know you're not a pussy, so do it.

The guide to hack the 3DS is in the style of for dummies books.

>Can I use my R4 gold pro 2019 card to install Custom firmware?
The guide didn't use this to hack it though

>this kills your vision

Yes, you can use the flash card to install CFW on any firmware using the ntrboot method

>very unlikely as long as you have the backups
What are the backups?

>No, but once you have the CFW you can use TWiLightMenu++ to play your R4

Wait, can you not play R4 on the 3ds right away? I've got the 2019 edition that says 3DS compatible on the cartridge and says it's Bomberman DS when you see it on the main menu. Did they lie about 3DS compatibility?

What about online functionality? Non existent, I'm guessing?

>What are the backups?
you make them when you follow the guide

>can you not play R4 on the 3ds right away?
depends on the cart.
>What about online functionality?
Online stuff works fine

Aside from playing 3DS CIAs and custom themes what else does CFW offer? Any notable homebrews and can I play DS roms without a flashcart?

BEST GAME

3 is absolutely amazing

Like 3 games full of content

thank god i still have my old ds flashcard because this year i had this crazy need to play a lot of DS/3DS games
i got a SNES emulator on it too so i can play SMT and other games in my bed

I saw a few Anons unironically recommending Style Savvy for the 3DS. Is it actually good/comfy or is Yea Forums just gay? I'm asking this out of curiosity, because it's not like I want to be a cute girl or anything.

I tried it a couple times and I got bored each time
nice music though

the amount of content that this game has is absurd, I can say without fear of being wrong that is the game with more content than I have seen in my life. I don´t even think that anyone can complete it 100%

I was going to mod my Wii U with a 64GB card, but I might put it in my 3DS instead.
Is it fine if I start with this, or should I play the first two?

Blasters T is already full game sized by itself

Then you have all the missions for both characters,Hazy Lane,a million of secret bosses/daily yokai/rare Yokai, musical minigames, daily tasks,Zombie night,Nightmares,The Tower of Zenlightment,Create your Nyan...

Play 2 first and then 3

>Play 2 first and then 3
Any particular reason why I should?

Because 2 is a great game by itself, worth playing (and it's a mini reboot from the first one on terms of story)

Speaking of Blasters, have you played the Blaster spinoff games? If so how are they?

Fantasy life is so fucking boring holy shit

>check it out

this
I tried to play it but I was bored within first 30 minutes of this game
It's literally for children

I bought both versions and the best way to describe it is Diablo lite. The top down combat is fine but lacks variety. Luckily there is hundreds of characters to collect. So overall pretty good

Stick with animal crossing it's literally better in every way

I know people say don't stick your dick in crazy but man I wish I could fuck kyary pamyu pamyu

Just play the demo.

Whatever shin megami tensei game they dumped on the 3ds

are you not man enough to play that game?

I see.
How short it is?
Yes I am, straight as an arrow too. I DO NOT want to be a cute girl or dress-up with cute clothes or anything. I just like comfy games. I'm not a homo.

>Yes I am, straight as an arrow too. I DO NOT want to be a cute girl or dress-up with cute clothes or anything. I just like comfy games. I'm not a homo.

>All of this fucking insecurity and needing to justify playing a game to anonymous people on a chinese cartoons board
Holy fuck man.

>How short it is?
There's a fashion show and a little bit of you running the store. Might take an hour to do both.

Those 3ds hacking guides posted earlier in this thread mentioned either using magnets or soldering. Is this actually needed?

Seems like that might fuck my system up.

Attached: Duane Dibbley.jpg (240x240, 6K)

I'm not insecure, I just value the opinions of other anons.
I see. I'm gonna give it a try them. Thanks.

PS: I'm not a homo.

This. Back when I hacked my o3DS XL I didn't use any magnets. But now I'm afraid of buying a new one because I know I'm gonna fuck that up. At least with the regular 2DS I won't need that, so I may get one instead.

Been playing DQ8. 3DS crashed after an hour of metal slime grinding which has me discouraged. That's what I get for downloading the game to a microSD using an SD adapter I guess.

Neat. Might pick it up some day.
