Goblins are actually useful and can make more death machines and explosives. Lore wise the gnomes have made better mechs but the goblins can make a similar mech for cheaper and in bulk.
Basically goblins are American tanks in ww2. They were shittier than German tanks but the Americans made 10 for every 1 German tank.
