Ironically, I'm actually replaying DNF and all I can say is I want next Duke game but not made by Gearbox. Duke as Duke is still solid concept but world/people in DNF seems to be retarded for sake of being retarded. I don't want DNF encore.

A character like Duke can't be anywhere but at the top of the world, it just doesn't work.

Because a character value is strongly related to his contrast to the rest of the world.
Duke talking a bunch of cheese one liners work when aliens have 100% taken over the world and are killing everyone.
But if duke actually is placed above everything and everyone else because society is still standing and everyone loves him, the character ends up boring, because he already has it all.

Duke has been placed above everything since Duke Nukem 2. Every game after is just a series of invasions and time travel and yet Duke remains Duke, never getting old.

It's larger because they made a, true 3D engine for it with a new lightning system. The sound was fixed some time after launcher. The new episode is good, you hate for Randy or Gearbox does not invalidate this.

Just make it along the same lines as the original but parody the later lives of the action movie stars that originally inspired him. Levels themed after later arnold and whoever else action movies. Duke, all the enemies and the weapons get re skinned for each theme. If you need a plot to tie it together then its aliens trying to mess with duke via a mind attack. 'We were going to break your spirit by making you believe you were old and washed up" or something.

As long as the alien cities feel like actual cities, I'm cool with it. Duke's best levels were always the ones with a city/urban setting.

Those expansions are in copyright limbo that's why Megaton was removed. It's a shame but life's a bitch. Luckily they're still easy to acquire and we got a new, quality expansion to go with them.

Well all i can think of is gameplay. Make it like half life or fear in some areas. Make the troopers as smart as HECU troops. The pig cops can be smart too but they don't work as well in teams like the troopers do.
Enforcers may try and lay down suppressing fire while another tries to flank. But now their miniguns have to spin up.
Octobrains are the same as 3d but they can electrocute you if you get very close.
The fireflies return from world tour, but they use freez rays. They're now called snowflakes.
Sentries are no longer suicide bombers. But they launch micro missles. When they're destroyed they fall to pieces and spill oil everywhere.
The shrink ray aliens are very defensive, trying to stay back. But once they shrink you they'll go on the offensive, and fast.
And finally the overlord has 2 variants. One with the classic minigun (which now has to spin up), while the other has no armor, or gun. Instead they have a loin cloth and a hammer, and will try and rush you. They're not too hard to dodge though once you learn their attacks

Duke Nukem will never be what he was because he's the epitome and cliche of the masculine, corny and ironic stereotype. And that any game he stars in next will result in the deduction of his character. No game is sacred from the hands of the (((industry))).
Look at Agony? Look at Mortal Kombat? The idea of modern Duke Nukem is just as likely as an Austin Powers remake. They won't make it happen, and if they do? Then it will be fucking ruined just like everything else those fucks touch.

Ion maiden looks good. Why not just use the old engine and make a new duke game? Make 30 levels. Add some new textures. Maybe a new weapon (or fix that shitty excuse for a flamethrower and microwave expander) and a new enemy or two. Boom, you've got a duke game.

The Incinerator is overpowered and the Expander is excellent against groups of low-health enemies.

It one shots most enemies and it puts them in a permanent stunlock until they die, meaning a burning enemy will never retaliate.

You do a duke-3d-like game prequel / remake of duke nukem 1, with him fighting doctor proton. Treat it 100% serious.
Everything about DNF's "other characters" had potential in the e3 trailers from 98/99/01, but got completely borderlands'd/postal3'd
One of the strongest aspects of duke3d was its portrayal of realistic / believeable settings, especially in episode 1 and 3, compared to doom/quake's completely fantastical/hell/bizarre shit, or wolf/blakestone/corridor7's endless maze hallways
