Can't you just buy it on Steam? Not like there's any real reason to buy it over the remaster, especially if the reason for purchase is multiplayer.

Original was delisted when Remastered was released. No huge loss, PTDE was a shit port and most of the good mods are available for Remastered now. That being said, multiplayer is pretty barren on Steam (slightly better on PS4, but still not mindblowing). There's still activity in the usual hotspots, but it's nowhere near what it was in the good old days.
