what are your most enjoyed switch games, Yea Forums?
i personally enjoyed celeste, katamari reroll, enter the gungeon, and hollow knight, to name a few.
of course, any and all recommendations are welcome!
Switch game recs
None of those are Switch exclusive.
Sonic Mania Plus. Best way to play it too.
where did i mention exclusives?
So? They're good games. Why not get the if you haven't already?
If you enjoyed gungeon, chances are you will like nuclear throne. Not quite similar to Hollow Knight like NT is to gungeon but dead cells is also pretty good, and of you like a 2D Zelda-like game, hyper light drifter is also an option
>System has so little in the way of good exclusives that they talk about playing ports on it
I'm so glad I sold this thing to a friend, botw and odyssey were a blast at least.
I played a shit ton of dead cells. Katana Zero is pretty good, Furi is great, DKC is a must have. The start gun in Enter the Gungeon is so shit that it takes forever to get all the items to open the shortcuts, it wasn't as fun as I expected it to be
Because when we do list the exclusives we get told "They don't count" dipshit.
I want to get Ape Out eventually, it's like a hipster hotline Miami, any of you played it yet?
You fags bomb the Switch exclusive threads with how much you hate the game. Stay mad that I had fun with LGPE
Another thing is that the exclusives are kinda "no shit" type things that people will most likely pick up anyway. You don't have to recommend someone a game everyone and their mother is getting for it.
Not him but
>Stay mad that I had fun with LGPE
Oof. Here's a (You) for stepping into that minefield with such bravery.
great rec, thanks!
woah, i thought NT wasn't on switch! definitely getting it. HLD looks great, might check it out! dead cells looks interesting as well, it seems really rewarding, which is something i enjoy a lot in games.
KZ caught my eye but i wasn't really sold on it. what did you enjoy the most about it?
furi looks amazing.
DKC as in donkey kong country?? i played returns and enjoyed it, but is TF really worth it?
>"the start gun in ETG is so shit that it takes forever to get all the items to open the shortcuts"
yeah, but that's what makes it feel so rewarding once you do. it's one of those things in games that aren't outright frustratingly semi-impossible, but still require a lot of time/effort, and make it feel really worth it.
i second this
Sky Force Reloaded is a really damn good shmup that starts you off with a literal pea shooter and makes you work your way up to earn upgrades for your ship. Has a fuckton of grind and therefore replayability in order to unlock all the ships and get all the cards. I believe it's on sale for $6 too.
Both Blaster Master Zero games.
Yeah, Tropical Freeze. I don't know, it's a great non-indie platformer that you actually die and offers you a decent challenge. The level design is also great.
KZ has a nice story, I wish the game was a bit harder because I almost didn't use the bullet time thing. One cool feature that KZ has is that you can stop the dialog sometimes and interrupt what the other character was saying. The pacing is pretty good and makes you want to keep playing to see what happens next, specially with different gameplay sections. The only negative thing I can say about this is that it was developed by one guy in like, 5 years or something? And the game ends on a cliffhanger, who knows when we will get a sequel. At least we will have free DLC.
Furi is great. It's definitely not for everyone, but I'm a sucker for Takashi Okazaki's art so I had to get it. It's just a boss rush but the soundtrack is awesome and there are some very fun boss battles.
Also check out The Messenger, it's worth every penny, and Celeste as well! It's frustrating but if you need something to play in short bursts it's pretty good.
I didn't play the Switch version but Mark of The Ninja is a great 2D stealth game
Blaster Master Zero and Blaster Master Zero 2
Azure Striker Gunvolt 1 and 2
Gun gal 1 and 2
Should I get Dogma, FFXII or Xenoblade Chronicles 2? HELP!
Botw, Death Mark, Smash Ultimate, for me.
I am Setsuna was okay.
>Gun gal 1
That's not on Switch, user.
Dragon's Dogma, it's cheaper than both of the other ones and by the time you finish playing it FF12 will probably a lot cheaper. XB2 will never drop a lot in price because Nintendo but you should at least play the first game if you haven't. They don't look connected at first, but they are.
Thanks user
>Death Mark
That's discounted right now, is it just a VN or there is more to it?
Moreish. Most of the game is like point and click investigations. walk in area, click sparkly thing, feel it, maybe use item on it.
That doesn't mean they're not fun to play on your Nintendo Switch...
I think ICEY is on discount. It's a pretty good game. Dust: An Elysian Tale is also pretty good, despite the furry vibes. If you're paying for Online, do yourself a favor and play Splatoon 2, it's like the best multiplayer game on Switch.
I know this is bait, but I do wish Nintendo didn't take its sweet time getting so many first party games and potential exclusives to the system. Something about the system being a better indie machine than an actual AA-AAA game console sits with me the wrong way. Also the fucking jewery with the Wii U ports. Only MK8D and Hyrule Warriors deserve that price. Nothing else fucking does and note, this doesn't say/imply anything about the fucking game's quality.
Are you saying that Funky Kong isn't worth having to pay an extra $40?
Thinking about hacking my switch, my serial number’s good but no micro send card right now,
>already have Doom on PS4 but want to get the Switch version because playing it in bed with gyro controls would be pretty comfy even with the visual and framerate downgrade
>it still goes for like $40 even though the other versions go on sale for under $15 regularly
This close to just hacking my Switch just to escape the Switch Tax
Really anjoying Mark of the Ninja lately.
Also check out Tropical Freeze and Steamworld Dig 2.
wow, it looks amazing, i love bullet hells.
i beat the first one on the 3ds, and honestly didn't find it very much to my liking. thanks for the rec though.
interesting. i'll keep an eye out for when TF goes on sale.
huh, guess i'm getting KZ then. that sounds really interesting.
yeah, furi looks great all around!
just checked out the messenger. didn't really catch my eye until i saw the switching mechanic and wow! definitely getting it.
i played celeste, it's really good!
huh, just checked out the trailer. looks interesting, but i'm not really sold on it. what made you like it?
GV looks pretty simple desu, i haven't played it but it looks like it plays akin to master blaster zero, which i didn't find really fun or unique.
gal gun 2 looks really fun. i'll definitely keep an eye out for it.
i've played them all except death mark and setsuna. DM doesn't look very interesting aside from seeming forcefully "spooky". can you elaborate on your experience with it?
i took a look at setsuna a while ago, having heard it was inspired by chrono trigger, but it seems it fell short on many aspects, particularly on how easy it is. what do you think about it?
ICEY looks nice, but the trailer doesn't give me much to go on. could you describe what made you enjoy it??
dust's gameplay looks nice, very entertaining, but the furry vibes ruin it for me. thanks for recommending though.
i'm definitely getting splatoon 2, don't know how i missed it.
i've mixed feelings on the topic. i hacked my wii u/ wii/ 3ds/ you name it, but when i got the switch i didn't hack it (the scene wasn't as advanced at the time) and am now fully updated. i really like supporting indie devs by buying their stuff, but i'm not opposed to hacking it in the future.
SD2 has been on my list forever. i loved the first one and will be getting it.
The picross games are good fun if you like puzzles.
Based and redsphere'd
the picross games are amazing.
can you play as funky on normal difficulty? funky is cool, but easy mode isnt
look at that soul just evaporating
Yes. I'm saying that every Wii U port, with the exception of the ones I mentioned in my other post, are worth 40 fucking dollars, not 60. What pisses me off is that it's Nintendo, so they'll never get a price cut until the Switch is on the way out; they'll just be on sale occasionally. Again, this is not meant to shit on Dong Freeze in any way; you don't know how much I want to fucking play it because of all the people saying it's the GOAT platformer.
It's sort of hack-and-slash that's fun to play, controlling ICEY is heavenly, and the story has a bunch of multiple endings and gets pretty meta with some stuff, making it feel like a combination of Undertale and NieR Automata.
Sorry to hear Dust didn't interest you, but I forgot to mention: Have you given Xenoblade 2 a try? If you have a lot of time to kill, that game will keep you occupied for hundreds of hours. I know that game is contentious and it looks like a very iffy title, so if you're feeling confident you'll like it give a shot. Or do what I did and wait for a sale. I got mine during a Black Friday Walmart sale for $45.
Can you please go somewhere else to beg for attention? its kinda embarrassing.
How is Fire Emblem Warriors?
When does the Crystal Chronicles port come out?
ICEY sounds amazing now. i'm getting it for sure, thanks!
i've been meaning to get XBC2, but i haven't played the first one.
Immortal Redneck is a pretty good budget alternative to Doom 16. It's not as polished and has some shitty bosses but the core gameplay is a lot of fun.
If you're fine with 90% of the cast being from Awakening and Fates it's alright. I'd recommend getting Hyrule Warriors and DW8XL first tho.
I played DW8 Empires and I really liked the grand strategy style of gameplay it had, do either of the nintendo warriors games have those?
I've been playing the fuck out of Cuphead, trying to S Rank every boss, halfway there. Also, got this grip today and it's amazing.
It's short if you don't get the DLC. It's fine if you just want the fanservice.
Empires is kind of its own thing. Normal musou games are much more straightforward.
i liked octopath, it has it’s flaws and charms, i completed it and don’t regret the purchase, but i don’t think i would play it again.
give The Messenger a shot, check out The Completionist review of it, it sold me on the game and I loved it. The trailers don't do a very good job to show how good the game is.
Mark of the Ninja makes you feel like a badass whenever you make everything stealthy as possible. Download a pirate copy for PC if you wanna check it out, I'll probably double dip in the future
>seeming forcefully "spooky". can you elaborate on your experience with it?
really spooky vibes, somewhat interesting, if a bit animeish characters, and surprisingly interesting ghost stories. It is just a horror point and click adventure done right. It is like a meld of three genres and it really works.
>i took a look at setsuna a while ago, having heard it was inspired by chrono trigger, but it seems it fell short on many aspects, particularly on how easy it is. what do you think about it?
That describes it better than I ever could. I enjoyed it anyway, the soundtrack is really repetetive but still decent, and I enjoyed the art direction, so I somewhat enjoyed it as a throwback RPG with a cool aesthetic and a story I kinda wanted to know how ends. Not the best game ever though.
Fpbp fuck nincels
Should i bother with Celeste if i didn't enjoy super meat boy? Seems like the same kind of game
I can't recommend a single Switch exclusive, as I've hated and/or disliked every single one of them. Be it cinematic movie games like Xenoblade, to extremely casual shovelware like Kirby and Yoshi, Nintendo has honestly lost their touch.
Your best hope is the indie scene. My favorites on the go are Into the Breach, FTL, Hollow Knight, and etc. The indies are salvaging the poor excuse of a console.
my favorite switch game is ARMS
unfortunately it's a game that i can't possibly recommend to anyone because, while i feel like it's one of the best switch games and one of nintendo's best fighters period, it's too "weird" and "unconventional" for most people to enjoy. one of the biggest problems people mention is that there's not much in the way of single-player content (i feel like that is a really strange complaint for a fighting game, they've always been multiplayer focused, haven't they?)
A game with pitiful singleplayer content should be nowhere near full price. This goes for all fighting games.
Have you played Blaster Master Zero Two yet?
The guys are faggots if you're wondering.
but the multiplayer content is incredibly rich, and replayability is high. that's how fighting games should be. the $60 price tag is fully justified in my opinion
>but the multiplayer content is incredibly rich, and replayability is high.
What if you have shoddy internet, or the multiplayer is dead? That 60 dollars of yours goes right down the drain. Meanwhile, I can continue playing my singleplayer game regardless.
Where the fuck are all the Nintendo games?
Dragon Blaze is top tier
yeah please don't buy the game if you have shitty internet
fucking ruins the game
you can find online matches pretty much 24/7 though, everybody's on that grind
also you can play locally if you have friends
>buy this game for 60 bucks just so you can only play it when your friends all have work schedules that coincide with eachother, which is maybe once a month if you're lucky
Not really giving me any good reasons here.
Octopath Traveler
That's kinda cringe bro
MHGU. Finished 9th EX Last night. MFW I realise I'm only half way. Oh well at least the remaining ones are practically all unlocked
you're just not a person who's really into fighting games, you're not competitively minded, and that's fine, nothing wrong with that.
not everyone who owns switch is necessarily interested in Nintendo IPs
Not OP but I got $20 on my account and looking for something worth picking up since I just got a switch. I already went through Master Blaster Zero 1 and 2. I'm looking for slightly more exclusive offerings since I own most multiplat shit on other stuff already. Was Dragon Marked for Death any good?
Switch has no games.
Octopath Travelers feels kinda slow to me. Does it ever get any better?
i've been really thinking about getting something like this. is that one really rigid tho? cuz i partially want it to eliminate joy con wobble
DMFD is fun but not very welcoming or well designed. The levels can get repetitive and the bosses are very punishing and will often instantly kill you with bullshit. Some characters also feel less developed than others, which might impact your enjoyment. If you're willing to look past its flaws, it's a pretty neat game. Would recommend playing with friends if possible.
ay yo wtf, why is it like a hundred dollars on amazon.ca?
Persona5
i love my switch!
>only one good game in that entire list
why bother
is saint's row 3 as kino as it sounds?
Smash
Doom 2016
Immortal Redneck
Anything Mega Man
Dark Souls
They all run pretty decently for the most part. in terms of frame drops, Immortal Redneck was the worst but still pretty steady 95% of the time. DS Remastered actually runs and looks great on Switch but the sound is lower quality to be sure. Doom's only gotten better with each of the updates released so far.
Mario odyssey, its no galaxy but it was fuckin great anyway
That or Smash
Honestly i haven't even got much playtime on my system coz i don't have many games on it yet, my library is only gonna grow though
Oh and i fucking came when i found out Saints Row The Third is coming to switch, sure as fuck getting that
please recommend some decent arcade games. I've been playing ikaruga and shock troopers a lot recently, switch is perfect for them.
Having a pretty good time with Steamworld Quest. I'm playing on hard, and I've been destroyed a few times and somewhat often ended battles in critical condition. The battle system is good, but it can take a while to fully open up because new cards are expensive to buy. The variety of cards for each character lets you make several builds.
Virtua Racing on Japan eshop
Kamiko, Blaster Master Zero/II, Blossom Tales, Umihara Kawase Fresh, the pleasure of having nearly 20 Megaman games on one portable device
Is Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate any good?
I never played this series and it's half priced on amazon right now
yeah play it, you basically have no reason to play older games after playing that one. it's kind of an all star game but it basically is mh4u mechanic/engine, most enemies and maps, plus some older stuff, mainly mhfu.
There's a demo on the eshop try that first. But study pic related carefully because the controls are unique, and feel somewhat archaic, and the game will explain very little to you. Treat the demo with a pinch of salt, as the basis of the game is about building your character gradually over time. The demo throws you in at the deep end and gives you pretty shabby builds. It's more to get a feel of the game.
Choose Long Sword and Guild style.
I'll try it out, thanks
Joycon wobble can be fixed by putting a tiny layer of tape at the bottom part of the sliding bit.
Bought Ape Out a couple of days ago just because of it's concept of an ape killing people to sound of FREE FORM JAZZ. Also the jazz album cover aesthetic for everything.
I would say it's fun for what it is. Mechanics are simple but it can get challenging at times even on normal. Would recommend if you are craving for indie games.
I hope more compile heart/IF games come to the Switch.
DMfD is fun in the same sense of discovering some old japanese PSP game that's jank but fun at the same time.
Thanks, I might pick it up. Which version/characters is the better pick if I only get one, you think?
Most people went for the shinobi/witch pack. Shinobi is definitely fun. I went for the empress/warrior pack because playing as tanks makes my dick hard.
Just tried the demo just like you said.
Damn... It seemed tedious. I tried the easiest monster and i failed. Didn't know where his health bar was. I don't think this game is for me.
>Didn't know where his health bar was.
