An important main character in the upcoming Fire Emblem game, Fire Emblem: Three Houses is joining Smash Bros. as DLC. She will be released shortly after Nintendo's E3 Direct. Does this mean Erdrick isn't joining Smash? No, I never said he wasn't, I just said he wasn't "Brave". So this does not deconfirm Erdrick's potential in the future. I don't know anything else besides Sothis' inclusion. I am not going to risk my job too much so I'll give you the short and cryptic reason I know of his inclusion "I am a voice actress". Not saying for who, or for what, or anything like that. I know that plenty of Smash Bros. fans hate Fire Emblem character additions but it seems like Nintendo really wants to push this new Fire Emblem similar to what they've done in the past with Fire Emblem. Not 100% on this but I've heard that there might be another character announced at E3 that will make everyone happy in case of backlash. Not sure who it is but I've heard some rumors about that. Sothis is a really strange choice, I would think they would've picked Byleth but perhaps Sakurai thought they were too similar to the other Fire Emblem characters in Smash already?
