Why did this game sell so well?
Rockstar games can not only buy marketing in form of adds, but also in form of celebrities, which means that big AAA companies literally pay people to play their games either on Streams, Youtube videos or mention it in interviews and other outlet platforms.
It's fun and by the same guys as GTA. And it's predecessor was well received.
Because it's RDR2, there's no way it wasn't going to sell well. Anything made by Rockstar nowadays is a guaranteed cash-cow.
Because muh graphics and realism. Normies will buy anything if it has decent realism and "simulator" aspects.
Only real answer these days, in combo with this:
Before they sold, because they were actual good games. The industry changed. It has "legacy" companies and "legacy" franchises now which sell on name alone, which affords them bigger marketing, which nets more sales, which affords better graphics, which nets more sales, which builds the legacy, which affords bigger marketing, which...
Because contrary to Nintendo/v/, people really like Rockstar games and not every game needs to have some fat midget with a red hat in it to sell well.
it's also a sequel to RDR1, a game most normies thought was GoTG last gen.
That reminds me, a normie roommate of mine bought the game and never even played it.
He only had a normal Xboner so perhaps it was for the better...
It was a good game
>great story
>great characters
>great graphics and soundtrack
>wild west theme
>shooter
>gta like open world
>Rockstar
It has everything to appeal to both casual masses and actual "gamers"(couldn't find a better word, but i'm referring to people that consider gaming their main hobby, so they are always aware of whats going in the industry and know lots of less popular/niche games)
