because journalism is failing

Because the articles are either ads or activism. This is true for most """journalism""", not just vidya.

journalism has been dead for years and has been replaced by shitty bloggers pretending to be journalists

youtu.be/6Tuw_j4XS84

this

There's 0 actual journalism, instead we have shitty clickbait and glorified bloggers.

people don't like to be berated, belittled and told what to think and what to do.
people are sick of clickbait and getting agendas shoved down their throats.
there used to be a time when I loved going to Shacknews and reading Rock Paper Shotgun before they went full retard. That was man, many moons ago.

No exaggeration - if Trump issued an executive order tomorrow to put all journalists in concentration camps, no one in America would give a damn.

And that's a good thing.

wait a minute... i thought he was unbased?

as long as you fucks are obsessed with metacritic scores it wont

Because mainstream journalism is no longer a vehicle for delivering accurate information. It's corrupt, full of people who only care about money and power and who are willing to abuse the platform and image of journalism to spread whatever doctrine they believe in out of self interest.

youtube killed it
jews are losing control

It's selling a narrative and there was a large pot of money for selling government propaganda -which was silently made legal once again not too long ago.

>confusing shitposting with legit posting

The fuck user

diversity writers do not add any value to these companies.

Because for every article these losers pump out there's like 150 dudes making videos about the news and their reactions to it within like 10 minutes of news media putting out articles. Livestreams of events means that the people invested in these products know at the exact same time as journos (or at least before they can pretend to).

>why is something that shows nothing but contempt for what is supposed to be its target audience failing

no idea

Waypoint has offered, for the last two and a bit years, an almost unique perspective on games and the games industry.

Unashamedly political in an industry that shuns politics. Unashamedly leftist in an industry that skews right. Unashamedly safe for women, BAME and LGBT folks* in an industry that is largely hateful towards them. It's a shame they're being folded for speaking out against the industry.

shit bait. either type what the people want or die out.

Journalists have been boasting about automation for over a decade. Nowadays they can be almost entirely replaced by algorithms that lift info straight from the source, or aggregate news from the handful of real journalists left
You just don't need dozens of teams reporting on the same topics

Journalism is solely preoccupied with peddling clickbait, outrage porn, racism, sexism, classism, or is just overtly political in one direction or another. This includes video games journalism, where you also have to add the fact that they're paid by the people they're supposed to criticize.

I get gaming news on Yea Forums by accident and that is it.

did you copy this from their website?

How many of these woke gaming blogs have gotten axed recently. Offworld and Waypoint both got axed. What happened to the glixel one. You think they'd learn their lesson but i wouldn't expect a bunch of commies to learn. feels good man

You know it's shit when it's named after one of the worst aspects of modern games

glixel is part of rolling stone
if you read any of this trash you are a fucking idiot period.

journalism at general is a dead career. It's more shilling than information. If you need to shill you better use a youtuber or influencer, no name journalist cannot hype anything. And "formal" news are also shills and people prefer to listen to podcasts and live stream on site than watching CNN, BBC, etc.

>Austin Walker
>Patrick Klepek

The touch of death.

This, I used to love reading Gamespy. When did it all go so wrong?

Real journalism is one of the most respected jobs in the world while gaming journalism is nothing but garbage.

>The touch of death.
The slow and cancerous death of GB is taking far too long.

>Unashamedly leftist in an industry that skews right

I wonder if they actually believe the shit they write.

there's not much of that right now either seeing the garbage cable news stuff

back in the day journalist would present the topic/arguments for each side and leave the final verdict to the viewer

Once Jeff throws the towel it will finally be over.

This is also a big part of why entertainment/opinion pieces/injections are happening more.

Question: if someone lies to you 1 out of every 10 times, would you believe anything they have to say? Obviously not. It doesn't matter if they tell the truth 90% of the time, that 10% chance of BS makes it irrelevant. How about 1 out of every 100? If it's innocent and not damaging, you could probably let that slide but if it's a big and hurtful lie even 99% truth isn't good enough.

The media as a whole doesn't even come close to telling the truth 99% of the time. Fuck I doubt they do 50% of the time. Their stories are either slanted and misrepresented to appeal to their own personal beliefs, they pick and choose stories while ignoring others that contradict their narratives, or they just outright report utter bullshit. When you feel like you have to fact-check every fucking story there's literally no point in reading them in the first place. Journalism as a whole is failing because they're fuckawful at their jobs and people are noticing that they're being taken for a ride.

Wait a minute, you copied this from a resetera thread didn't you.

Maybe don't follow rags. It's not hard to keep up reasonably well if you stick to reputable publications.

Though on Yea Forums I have no doubt people consider the ones that almost all metrics say are reasonably nonbias and fact based like the BBC are left wing rags (it's a tory leaning publication)

Ryan Davis' death was fast and swift.

Trump has never told a single truth in his entire life, that's why nobody trusts him and he gets BTFO whenever people do some modicum of fact checking. Journalists do a great job at catching people when they're lying and they sometimes makes mistake but all they exist to do is to report the truth.

They got woke.

For some reason journalism attracts the most self centered, poorly educated, reactionary losers imaginable. I like knowing that I made more money working in a warehouse than these wankers make blogging for pennies.

Do people really care about opinion pieces? HuffPo shut down their whole opinion section, and they weren't the only ones either

except when they get caught lying or making shit up

>all they exist to do is to report the truth.

Attached: brainlet fluid.png (645x773, 107K)

eat shit

It's as they say, once you get woke, you go broke.

Trump is a walking comedy routine, we can agree on that. Though strangely I'm beginning to wonder if having an inept parody of a leader is superior to having some intelligent and thus dangerous elite. Maybe he's actually doing some good being a bumbling insulator against actually competent forces.

>they exist to do is to report the truth.
horseshit. These corporate entities exist to use and manipulate information for the sake of profit. Sure, they have to at least convince watchers that they're telling the truth but if they can lie, profit, and get away with it you bet your ass they will. And why the actual fuck am I supposed to believe that suddenly the media is "good" after decades of embarrassment? From their unflinching support for the Iraq war to acting as a CIA puppet to blatant racism in the past. They're just as rotten now as they were then. Just wait until they misreport something important to you. Then maybe you'll take a closer look at what you're being fed.

I actually followed the BBC for a while and was quite happy with my decision as it seemed better than Murrican cable TV nonsense. But then they fucked up story after story and ah fuck it all to hell. Like I said, even if they get it right 90% of the time I'm going to wonder if the story I'm reading just so happens to be that 10%. They aren't good enough for my trust, sorry. I think you end up with a more accurate view of the world by just living in it than gulping down some committee-approved narrative.

>target an audience with no interest in your product
"why are we losing money!"

Shill somewhere else, tranny, I don't come here to get a tranny info dump sob story.

Any institution that informs people will slowly be corrupted by those who wish to manipulate people if there aren't sufficient protections. If you think the media exists to "report the truth" or that is any reflection of the current discourse you are hilariously naive. You have New York Times journalists posting hearsay as fact in order to damage political opponents, media selectively editing interviews and stripping context in order to condemn people, buzzfeed removing all the citations from James Damores essay to frame it as unfounded. You've had 3 years of hysteria about trump being a russian asset founded on nothing and a 3 year inquisition turning up nothing yet the narrative marches on. You are being lied to. The new journo class is nothing more that political activists wearing the husk of a once respectable institution and in doing so, defrauding the public.

...

All Journalism is failing.

nobody trusts any type of journalism anymore

I wish I could remove all the garbage RPS articles from the steam news feed for every game.
