Ordinarily I would say it was shit that it was just translated with no flavor added but knowing Treehouse they'd just add a bunch of memes. So I don't know if it's better or worse than constantly happy villagers with fill in the blank mentions of food.

That's my biggest issue with it, it's really nicely fleshed out in most areas but the writing is the most milquetoast, childish babble you could possibly imagine. Don't know whether it's the standards of Nintendo or Nintendo translations that changed but it pales in comparison to the previous games. Writing quality is a sliding scale in the series, I didn't notice the decline at all in Wild World, thought it was a bit blander in City Folk and by New Leaf it hit me I was playing a literal babby game.
