Anjanath is definitely a massive difficulty spike compared to the fights that come before. I think the next major obstacle is Diablos, then Nerg, depending on your preferred weapon.

Don't worry about elitist faggots user. If you haven't played MH, Anjanath is absolutely the point where you start to see how the difficulty can get up there early on.

I’m not looking forward to fighting Diablos, I had an encounter with him while my bro was helping me get to grips with Barroth for the first time and while I didn’t die he eventually just left. We were gnats to him. I’m guessing a full Rathalos set at least is needed.

Just get ready to dodge Diablos' shit and use Sonic Pods when they're underground. Bringing in some pit traps to hit them while they're stuck in them is good too. They don't do any elemental damage but they hit very hard, stun resist is helpful too.

I went from one monster to the next farming them using investigations to get parts, until I hit Anjanath.

I then had an Aqua Rod 1, a Foebeetle (poison) with Water element and a maxed out Bone set. Only took 2 days of play.

Insect glaive is for chads if (and only if) you stay on the ground like a man doing your combos properly.
If you are a jumping fag that just gets carried by other hunters you are bringing shame to your ancestors

Not that user but I'm a CB main and it's the sexiest shit. You'll wanna spend some time in the practice area getting used to combo strings and maybe look up a tutorial for some bread and butter combos but once you get a feel for it, it's such a satisfying weapon.

The main thing is that you can play defensively and it increases your DPS. For the majority of monster attacks, so long as your shield is charged, simply blocking will let you immediately retaliate with your giant axe explosion attack which is your main source of damage. As you get more used to monster movements, you want to implement Guard Points, which are specific points in attack animations where your shield ends up in front of your Hunter. During these points, you have a higher guard (so you get knocked back less, use less sharpness and stamina) and do a bit of KO damage, so you can potentially knock down monsters with it. If you don't stagger at all, the return with SAED (your big ass attack) is immediate. It opens up a lot of damage opportunities.

Unless you go full autism mode, you won't be out-DPSing stuff like Bows but you have awesome survivability and damage output.

I learned pretty quick that was a guaranteed way to get rekt, so I only do that to close distance and do a slam with triangle to break limbs and topple. Barroth is particularly susceptible to this, as he just lets you slam him on the head.

Sets are not so great. Focus in getting a bit of everything to get the best skills as possible. Vitality boost is one of the best you can get early. And dont forget to upgrade your armor.

Hell, the "blood" effects on older games were just red slashes or explosions. Not really anything to feel like was lost. They're just white now.

Rathalos is even more annoying in world because the level design is dogshit.

He flies off after you fuck him up a bit, and you have to follow him, but there are tons of environmental traps to make it easier. Nothing quite so satisfying as blowing the dam on a near death rath while it’s sleeping and watching it get washed off the cliff.

at 2 hours you should not have even hunted a single monster, because what you are supposed to do is get to your base and then immediately go into the training room with all the weapons for 2 hours

Add blood anyway? older games still had teen rating despite having blood. There was literally no reason to remove blood, especially when World is trying so hard to be as ""realistic"" as possible.

noob here, I beat xenojiva but I probably wouldn't have lasted that long if this game weren't bought by a friend of mine, so I played out of guilt.
-Most fights feel like you just dodge until the enemy stops then you beat them down.
-big weapons suck dick because even the slightest monster roar stops your attacks, unless you have max earplug immunity.
-status ailments. why fucking bother? they seem to only exist for the enemy.
-gotta kill a monster like 10 times to make anything useful from it. and that's just one item. wanna make a new item? well shit, now you gotta go back to low rank, kill that shit, then kill it 5 more times on high rank. and now that you've made that max tier item, it's shit compared to what drops from the raid siege.
-once you gear up now you gotta gear up again, but with decorations which is some shitty rng bullshit.

Truth be told, unless you're speedrunning stats don't mean as much. Weapons of the same rarity level tend to not be too different in damage output. Sure, some will clearly be better than others, but no so much so that the "best" weapons will kill shit like 3X faster or anything.

The #1 defnining factor in being able to succesfully and quickly kill monsters is your own skill and ability to keep on them and attacking without wasting time getting hit or running away to heal.

the only people who should really obsess over stats are speedrunners, where killing something a few seconds faster would actually be considered a big deal. other than that just use what you think is cool.

So maybe someone can explain but what is there to do after Xeno and tempered monsters? Lance already kicks everything ass and while I know you can do Luna solo I heard KT and Behemoth don't scale down to solo so I not interested in fighting an HP sponge that does a million damage. Is there really no G rank like in previous titles? The game is very easy and very short and even though I got it on sale I gotta say I expected more time to clear most of it
