>A shitty Destiny clone that literally bricked peoples consoles sold badly

In other news, water is wet

Surprised they haven't been shut down by now 2bh

Time to join the rest of the EA below expectations family bioware.

>let dead company make game
>expect 6 million units

??????? Bros????

Sic feet under soon.

If EA doesn't shut them down within two months then BioWare is getting special treatment for some reason.

They weren't dead, plenty of BioDrones blamed just EA for the decline, or used the "Andromeda was B team!!!!" cope.

That's fading now.

They still have dragon age left to milk

>assign rpg company to make a loot and shooter
>in a market reeling from shitty loot and shooters releasing unfinished games and promising content updates
>Literally repeat vanilla destiny's "muh ten year plan" in interviews
>expect six million sales to materialize out of this

Is nuEA just bad at business?

Bioware needs to be stopped now while theres still time before Dragon Age 4 comes out and they ruin their last good IP.

bioware are done. it feels good. dragon age 4 will be a live service pile of shit.

EA is in the business of acquiring game studios for their IP and then making them fail. EA is _very_ successful at this business.

Bioware, more like Biowere.

Attached: 125.gif (500x281, 232K)

This.
I want them to die before they have the chance to mangle Dragon Age and Mass Effect any more than they already have.

>assign rpg company to make a loot and shooter
I don't think there are many people left there from the original Mass Effect and Dragon Age team. If anything EA helped since the game only started to move into a direction after they put some EA guy to observe the production

They already made DA2 and inquisition

Bye-oware

More, like Bye-no-were

Attached: patface.jpg (3600x4000, 253K)

It makes me so happy to see them fail

Bioware will be shut down for this, LUL
>We will NEVER get a proper Dragon Age game because of their incompetence

Attached: 1538212986378.jpg (538x706, 56K)

Dont worry, a while back some of the heads at Bioware said that EA wouldnt shut them down because they have a SUPER SPECIAL relationship. This was after the Andromeda team got BTFO'd btw.

Attached: 1555665413222.gif (506x516, 443K)

I bet they said the same thing to other studios they shut down

It's crazy how Japanese and Korean developers just want the game to sell like 200k units to make a profit. Meanwhile if a Western dev can't break 5m+ they shutdown.

Anthem being a looter shooter had nothing to do with EA being their usual selves. Not even Bioware's employees knew what it was about, for one thing.

How long did Maxis lasted until EA finally put them out of their missery?

It didn't help that the title of Anthem had quite possibly one of the dumbest and least appealing names ever.
>have a game about flying around an open world in an Iron Man suit
>name it after a hymn for some reason

The original title they had tried to get for it, Beyond, would have been a lot more appealing, but ultimately would have also been meaningless since they had to scrap all the crazy shit they were planning that would have justified giving it that cool title.

Good, fuck em. Bioware hasn't made a good game in ages, and they're literally getting worse with every release.

Attached: 1556822920758.jpg (750x1000, 147K)

>a shitty destiny clone
How the fuck did people forget about destiny? Anthem is literally the same fucking game and it came out with the same exact issues and people still had the nerve to preorder

Holy shit this is news that I totally didn't expect. I'm laughing right there with you OP. Absolutely legendary. Cheers!

They can't have long left.

What were they thinking? Bioware isn't known for gameplay or QA.

>What were they thinking?
They weren't

Because they're more frugal with their money, know exactly what they want to do and have staff that work themselves to the bone without complaining.

Anthem is actually quite a bit worse than launch Destiny.

Reminder: Dragon Age 4 has been described as " Anthem with dragons " by Bioware staff.

Yes, the second revision of DA4, not the scrapped first version (that was probably way better if we're being honest)

Fucking great

Bioware ded already and just doesn't know it.

Oy vey!

Good riddance

Sometimes I remember about reading a long time ago on a magazine an article about Mass Effect, an upcoming shooter-RPG by Bioware. They were lauded as masters of crpgs, who did Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter Nights. There's a picture of Saren.
Sometimes I recall the ending to Mass Effect 1, and there's an uncomfortable interval before I recall how it ended up, as I get the feeling it would have been very cool if it got a sequel.

destiny was not broken at a core level and was later fixed; something anthem cannot do

Attached: image.jpg (759x1024, 194K)

Why the fuck can't we get more developers making single player RPG's?

I'm sick of waiting on these retarded studios to maybe release a decent product.

Attached: 1524027463183.gif (250x250, 222K)

It was supposed to kill Warframe, wtf bros???

EA is the best video game supplier from a business only standpoint. They follow trends, buy, use and abuse small studios for everything they have then dissolve them, control as many big license deals as possible like Sports and Star Whores. It's only now that they are declining even a tad because people are waking up to their shit.

but people love shitty games I thought?!

It's probably not the biggest flop ever, but it has to be the biggest opportunity cost ever in vidya

Bioware has been shit long before it started on Anthem.

Where we going PapEA?

Attached: papEA.jpg (640x1136, 68K)

>give the dev team a few months time to completely rework an existing project
>expect to ship 6 million units
Not defending nuBioware but is EA actually retarded?

Because gamers don't want single player games anymore, goy ;)

But seriously, I'm fucking amazed EA is letting Respawn release a single player Star Wars game with apparently no lootboxes, microtransactions or any other jewish bullshit. I'm sure they're resisting the massive urge to cancel it and shut down Respawn as we speak.

The kotaku article makes it clear this was ENTIRELY on Bioware, not EA. if anything EA gave them TOO MUCH leeway and they just faffed about with their thumbs up their asses for 6 years, then only started cobbling a real product together for like the last 2.

>give the dev team a few months time to completely rework an existing project
Nigger, they had 6 years
The game had one delay too

The game performed well in mock reviews, and maybe EA wasn't aware how much of a shitshow it actually was

WE LITERALLY HAD THIS EXACT SAME CONVERSATION 7 YEARS AGO AFTER MASS EFFECT 3 WHY WON'T THEY JUST DIE ALREADY

Those 6 years was pre-production which didn't go anywhere.

Attached: Anthem Mostly Built in “Six to Nine Months,” Frostbite an Issue Throughout Devel.png (939x758, 927K)

go watch a vido breaking down that kotaku article. they literally didn't even have a functional product for most of those 6 years, just concepts and half-baked ideas. nothing solid even materialized till that E3 trailer. a lot of the devs didn't even fucking know thats what they were making, and the trailer was news to them too.

It was an utter shitshow and it's 100% Bioware's upper management at fault.

You’re probably comparing the biggest AAA devs out there to small AA or indie devs. Konami, Capcom and Squinex do the same shit.

This
The spergs at Bioware actually wanted to remove the flying, which is like the one saving grace this trainwreck game has, before the EA guy told them to leave it the fuck in
Literally WHAT WERE THEY THINKING? If it didn't have the flying it would have literally just been Generic Third Person Shooter #5792486

EA was the only reason the game had flying which was the only thing that set that game somewhat apart from other looter shooters. the game fucking blows, its overly flashy and its blatantly obvious is just trying to LOOK impressive with shitloads of particle effects that brick modern consoles because they didn't even test the damn thing.

its a floppy wet chunky turd of a game made poorly, managed poorly, and apparently sold poorly too. I would say bioware should be ashamed of themselves, but we've already been down this road so many times with this SJW studio i can't even be bothered to be angry anymore. they are so conceited and arrogant yet they put out complete garbage and thank their "bioware magic" when in reality it was the dedication of a few select individuals that toughed it out and gave it their all when no one else would.

the day bioware is no more will be one of the brightest days this industry has seen in a long time.

Attached: IMG_1177.jpg (512x384, 38K)

who could of guessed?

Attached: 1302854577974.jpg (671x506, 131K)

Capcom literally just said that RE2 sold 4million and DMC5 2 million and they called it successful sales.

was a single thing they said about this disaster even true? I feel like we've been down this road before with this company...

>bioWHERE are they now?

half of me1 was the last bio game. sw and jade empire were the last

yeah those games are nearly 2 decades old yet people still act like bioware is this awesome developer when in reality they have been putting out mediocre at best dating simulators for the last 10 years i dont get it with these people

casey hudson loves the smell of his own farts is what i heard

why do you think EA games keep selling? Most people are braindead retards.

I wonder if the AMD bundle sales are factored in.

BFV and anthem were disasters tho, its only FIFA and madden they keep milking to death and let me tell you those people will NEVER wake the fuck up and stop taking it up the ass they just as bad as the cult of roberts

Fucking based

Attached: 1556498368228.gif (500x750, 2M)

>they thought they would sell 6 millions copies of this crap
All the dick sucking in the world can't bail out Bioware now.

western devs/publishers are retarded with their budgets because they think every game is going to have a ridiculous ROI no matter what they spend so why not spend more?

>Here's hoping Bioware can rebound
Here's hoping they can't

Attached: 1532389372090.jpg (1024x1003, 61K)

Just throw together some leftover assets and call it Anthem 2. Promise you "fixed everything" and watch the preorders come reeling in by the million.

>We're so fucking cheap that we'll shoehorn every single fucking IP we plan to milk into a single engine that was designed for a FPS

EA is terminally fucking retarded, holy shit, you can tell some dipshit in a suit made those decisions.

after that jason schrier article if they are STILL in business I will be very surprised. andromeda sank that other bioware company this game should have been positively lethal. EA exterminated so many other devs for far less if they are still around after a few months they are getting preferential treatment, and I want to know why.

>12 year old Mass Effect is nearly 20 years old
Calm down.

youtu.be/5lMS9HVSWnA
All I see is this scene with bioware bring pulled into hell by the other companies EA killed.

Meh, Capcom has been doing okay for the last 2 years or so, but they also have a long history of fucking up everything. See SFV and MvC:I

Wtf how can bioware fuck up this hard
Even some AA japan studio with a fraction of budget can come up with more content

EA gave them like 7 fucking years to make this game.
6 of those years they spent dicking around having no idea what they were doing. Then in the last year they went OH SHIT WE GOTTA MAKE A GAME!
They unironically deserve to be shut down.

>laymen gaming meme for when bioware is finally shut down

If gamers were learning creatures we would have a very different industry
How many people still fell for NMS on day one despite all the warning signs

Guys, we're slowly slipping into a better timeline. Gamers are finally wising up.

GAMERS WISE UP

>anthem with dragons
>live service
>people are visibly already anticipating another disaster before they know anything about it

what is the actual point? EA needs to just can this clownworld studio and just focus on burning down respawn next

It's gonna be an even bigger trainwreck (if it actually happens)

Their only recent fuck ups are fighting games and no one gives a fuck about that genre anymore

>visceral makes great games
>doesn't meet expectations, dies

Not fit to be buried in the same open air ditch as Maxis

>They weren't dead
They've been dead to me since ME2.

I think we're actually in a gaming crash, just a very slow painful one.

>It didn't even sell 6 million units

Holy shit lmao, get woke go broke

Attached: 1393871231120.jpg (419x480, 81K)

I feel vindicated for when every retard kept saying that EA never announces when a game under performs (they actually do, as in this game, Dead Space 3, Crysis 3, etc., it's just that the vast majority of their games DON'T under perform; not even stinkers like Andromeda).

>oy vey muh 6 million units

COST OF TRANSPARENCY

DA2 did that and inquisition was only fun if you skipped all exposition

>not even stinkers like Andromeda
They cancelled the DLC and disbanded the studio, I don't see how it performed well

2018-2019 is the greatest time for video games in history. It is the time everything started to fall apart

Attached: a-day-at-ea.jpg (460x817, 70K)

While I'm not a fan of EA, I would definitely not put this failure on them. Bioware is just a shit company. After the Andromeda fiasco it was apparent that there are some seriously unqualified people working there. They hired a fucking thot cosplayer to be the head animator. While the main director was busy making anti white tweets on a daily basis.
Studio closure is the best solution at this point, there is nothing good to come out of them.

>Don't forget EA were expecting 8mil a couple months before release before they changed it to 6 so that it looked less bad when they missed the target

They were actually directly asked how it performed and they said it did fine.

Not getting DLC was likely a result of the mess that was production; no sane person is going to keep that team active after they had fucked up so many times.

>no sane person is going to keep that team active after they had fucked up so many times
You mean like Bioware Edmonton?

bioware motreal got shut down like 4-5 months after andromedomeduh released if i recall I'm fully expecting edmonton is next after this train wreck. if they don't then somebody has got to be pulling some serious strings somewhere to keep them open.

>andromeda did fine
dead studio
>anthem sold under expectation
studio still alive

??

>this game was supposed to last 10 years
>it didn't even last 10 weeks
Bruh look at this dude... LOOK AT THE TOP OF HIS HEAD!

Attached: EA are fucking retards.png (2196x1454, 3.37M)

It's because everyone's caught onto EA's shady business practices and their obsession for killing publishers that EA is scared of the bad rep
But really I give it a month and a half

he said destiny!
>goes apeshit

...after that jason shcirier article they are fucking done man. that was a bullet to the brain for this megacuck studio that makes bad video games. take your bioware magic and shove it far up your ass casey "pick a color" hudson.

probably mostly true about the management
but i won't doubt it if the frostbite difficulty issue was caused by their own incompetence in the first place

It's EA's fault for buying up a AA RPG studio, forcing to make dudebro corridor shooters and loot'em'up clones, scaring off anyone with talent so they have to hire ambitious randos, and finally buying up several other unrelated studios, renaming them all to Bioware 2: Electric Boogalloo, and expecting them all to play nice together.

They had no qualms about disbanding Visceral when they were in the middle of making their SW game. EA is still willing to kill

I would not be surprised at all if they significantly downsized Bioware Edmonton in the next few months (EA's usual policy isn't to lay off workers, but rather, offer them jobs in other in-house studios as long as they're willing to move). If Schreier's piece was accurate they had the exact same issues as Bioware Montreal and wasted six years and tens of millions of dollars. Probably pissed a lot of people off.

i just love how almost immediately after this fat turd plops down for everyone to be horrified at bioware is on twitter saying they're working on dragon age 4. it was like IMMEDIATELY after hahaha

Attached: 1462065491761.png (600x400, 261K)

>Here's hoping Bioware can rebound
Why

Visceral is yet another example of EA being too lenient and the same problems that plagued Anthem being the result. EA gave them years and millions of dollars and they came back to EA with a 30 second nongameplay demo. Visceral was EA's most expensive studio and they made basically nothing.

Then Respawn went to EA and showed them the demo they've been working on using their own time and far more limited resources and it was hilariously better than what visceral showed. So EA decided to stop throwing good money after bad and gave the IP to respawn instead.

>Destiny 1 launch is the poster child for absolutely WHAT NOT TO DO in any capacity as a loot shooter, something Bungie themselves understands
>Bioware outdoes them by a solid 80%

Bioware is reaching the Silent Hill HD dev team in terms of absolute shit.

Can you remake this with Pepe and Wojaks instead to better fit board culture?

>beta male virgin protagonist Freelancer
SHOULDA HAD ROMANCES BIOWARE YOU STUPID FUCKS

Bioware, more like buyer-beware

>something Bungie themselves understands
So then why did they go and pull some of the exact same bullshit with 2?

i dont get why this is such a pet studio for people yeah it was the same studio that made KOTOR but nigger that was like 21 god damn years ago this is NOT THE SAME STUDIO

>Jason Schrier is literal fucking cancer and a flat out piece of shit
>Manages 1 actual good piece of writing that can even be called Journalism a year
>People let him get away with his BS because of this.

I mean, the Bioware shit was fantastic, and actual journalism, but holy fuck this fucking faggot only does that seriously like once a year.

biowaste

If DA4 isnt a homerun (it wont be), 90% of the BW team will be replaced and will be sent to work on random frostbite shit, similar how Visceral was forced to make Hardline before finally be put down.

EA probably wont disband the studio that quickly because the brand still has some value, but i say that in 3-5 years when absolutely no one gives a fuck about them anymore, EA will just close it down.

Destiny launch was not even close to the level of Anthem. Destiny was a fundamentally sound game that had fantastic gunplay and interesting classes. It just suffered from a lack of content and a nonsensical story where most of the lore was put onto a website instead of ingame. Anthem was broken on almost every possible level AND had no content AND the content that was there was not good. Vault of Glass is still one of the best multiplayer experiences Ive had

so they could make themselves look bad to activision, allowing themselves to buy themsevles back at a cheaper price.

Destiny only saving grace is that Bungie made amazing gunplay. It at least had its core gameplay down, just not the content.

My assumption and speculation is that Bungie lost a lot of senior staff who was there when Destiny was first planned and their current management staff is utter shit. Also looking at their vidocs it seems like their entire staff is asian woman and soiboys so this is another reason why I don't think the game is getting better.

I am noticing there is very little innovation these days. They just hire people to patch the ship up, put a new coat of paint on it and slap a sequel number to it. I bought Division 2 and despite its praise, it's the first fucking game with new areas and shit mixed up a little to give the illusion of more content. I don't think these soiboys and diversity hires are able to do innovation. It's quite possible they aren't allowed to as well.

this is the same shit they said for andromeda. and the same shit they said about anthem. I mean what the fuck is anything that lying fucknut casey hudson says true? ever?

if he told me the sky was blue I would check for myself.

6 months more likely, if new DA prototype won't be able to impress execs.

Water is not wet you fucking retard, it MAKES things wet.

Define "wet"

MOIST

For something to be wet, it implies that it can be dried. You can't dry water without it turning into a non-liquid, which would mean it wouldn't really be water.

Actually it’s been curious how much things have changed since Destiny.

Destiny was the most hyped shit in video games since the Star Wars Prequels. It had a studio people trusted and offered something people were nuts for. Even after it all came out how shit it turned out, people have Destiny and Bungie the Benefit if the doubt, especially after Taken King. Even with plenty of people rightly pointing out it’s bullshit to put out unfinished games at full price, a lot of people forgave and were ready for Destiny 2. Same exact shit happens but now more people are lost, there isn’t that much support if Bungie and Activision pulled this shit again.

Now let’s look at the EA side. First they try and make ME:A work but it failed so bad that it turned a fan base that was already mad about ME3 into definite opposition.

Anthem is a victim of both hindsight from an audience sick of scams like Destiny and is a failure of its own devs not even trying to make up for the sins of their past games. It’s just the layer after layer of brand destruction. People are joking if they think A new dragon age can help BioWare. If the game isn’t perfect and treated like the a GOTy contender, BioWare will have nothing left. Their brand is worthless.

>this is the same shit they said for andromeda.
And the BW studio that made andromeda was killed off
The only reason why the studio that made Anthem wasnt killed off is because they are already working on DA4. If it wasnt for DA4, BW would be no more. When it fails, EA will have no mercy

nigga their brand is worthless now the last good game they put out was mass effect 1 (and maybe 2). I said it back then mass effect 3's ending did far more damage than anyone realized you can't just fuck your entire fanbase like that on a meta level and walk away from it. its high time bioware had their comeuppance

You think if DA4 fails we'll see a public execuation of BW?

How can EA be even worse this gen than they were last gen? How do you get to be that terrible?
At least last gen they had Shadows of the Damned, Saboteur, and the first couple Dead Space and Mass Effect games.

EA is surprisingly lenient on failures. Even when Visceral wasted a game budget's worth of cash and made NO GAME rather than simply an under performing game, EA just moved the people who worked from Visceral to elsewhere after getting rid of the division.

Except the project leaders. They don't work in the industry anymore.

Holy shit Anthem launched with a SINGLE map? I was wondering why I never saw anything except the forest.

Bioware heads must've gotten Dragon Age 4 approved as insurance knowing that Anthem was going to be a mess. They're basically praying that the EA suits give enough of a shit about looking bad and playing into their reputation for shutting down studios. It might actually work, too. Hope it doesn't.

When did Visceral do that?

that's way too funny.

Attached: 1464485174865.jpg (568x479, 46K)

Apex, Titanfall 2, DAI, Battlefield 1, Battlefield 4, etc.

>b-but Yea Forums hated most of those games

>You can't dry water without it turning into a non-liquid
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dry_water

Dont forget bad company 1/2 were well liked and bf3 sold a ton. Its just the clow world we live in now. All the old teams and project leads quit or were fired. Diversity hires of third world trash and california/swedens/canadas biggest nu male cucks raised on social media with fuck drumpf tattoos arent as talented or innovative as previous generations of people raised normally. Expect everything to continue to get worse as quality is sacrificed for diversity

>Apex
>sold

Back to resetera fag

>cope
No, That's an excuse. Cope would be accepting but complaining. The age of TOR Biodrones is long gone. Nobody is accepting them and everyone said Andromeda was garbage. Nobody is defending this game either. There is no cope. Just a shitty excuse. You need to learn to use your shitty memes better, bud.

Apex is already dying due to support lapse, Titanfall 2 was literally a flop and got no attention. BF1 was a shitshow.

The scrapped Star Wars game project.
kotaku.com/the-collapse-of-viscerals-ambitious-star-wars-game-1819916152
>"Honestly, it was a mercy killing," said one former Visceral employee. "It had nothing to do with whether it was gonna be single player. I don't think it had anything to do with that. That game never could've been good and come out."

>“I think EA gave us too much leeway,” said one. “If anything, EA should’ve probably canceled this project earlier. I think Söderlund and them were too nice, gave us too many opportunities.”

Titanfall 2 is the only good game there and of course EA took it out back to bury it beneath BF1.

Apex got great revenue for what was going to be a throwaway project. Revenue gained via F2P games is even better than revenue gained via sales because there are no costs for retailer shares, boxing, shipping, etc., it's pure profit.

destiny had shit lore because activison fire the writer, the guy who wrote halo, and then tried to use his shit, he sued and won so they had to scrap all the cutscenes and start over with maybe half a year to launch

in the case of marty, who they did the same, they ended up forking over a ton in royalties on top of severance pay which is why destiny 1 has an ok ost

THIS CAN'T BE HAPPENING

>Apex got great revenue
Fake news

Now if only they got some standards and stopped eagerly gobbling up the shit served to them hoping the situation will just magically get better.

I don't follow AAA gaming at all, but what about Overwatch and the Warcraft spinoffs? They're still bringing in steady profits, I assume. Are those done by a different Bioware division?

I hate all of them for fucking up Anthem

Dude, that’s Blizzard. Under Activision.

Derp. Like I said, I don't follow AAA gaming. Disregard everything I said and go about your business.

Baby steps user, baby steps. They'll see the light one day.

EA earns most of its money from microtransactions and yearly sports title updates (e.g. FIFA). And despite Anthem being a disappointment, EA actually far outperformed their projections this year. They've been doing this consistently throughout the past six years, every quarter.

not enough to save titanfall 3 apparently

>F2P lootbox/cash shop Fiestas absolutely crushing $60 AAA games
This only makes me fear that Actiblizz and EA will drop price tags altogether and just turn everything into a F2P cosmetic shop.
Instead of the suits seeing that full price games need to be complete packages on release, they'll just forgo the risk altogether to make everything F2P.

Attached: dm_no_no_no.png (719x322, 38K)

Still, EA may fall for the trap of overheated vidya market where it is not enough to just succeed. They are no doubt promising miracles to investors with every new release and corporate suits have literally insane revenue expectations.
That's also why they keep trying games as service againand again, analysts and guys and girls of marketing department have been talking about mountains of gold waiting if they just get it to work so seductively that they are ready to take risks in their quest to actually male a successful AAA-live service game.

Fuck it EA and Activision's monetary schemes are already basically F2P-tier garbage.

It seems to me like every games as a service has failed in being what it tries to be Sure, financially some like Destiny made money but I think they envisioned consistent content with little in game purchases sprinkled in and no game so far has been able to do this. Destiny has events maybe once every 2 months that are like "Go here and do stuff you did before only now its seasonal also spend money in the shop". If games as a service actually did what it claims it wants to do, it could actually be pro consumer but it hasn't yet.

What did EA mean by this?

How is that any different than now? All that means is you no longer have to pay $60 up front for ActiBlizz/EA games.

Fish in the newspaper moment

To be completely fair to Bioware, Frostbite is apparently a notoriously difficult engine to work with and really wasn't made for a game like Anthem, and the CoD and Fifa teams got more priority from the Frostbite creators than the Anthem team.

Oof, reminds me of my job at a truck dealership explaining to people why we haven't finished working on their semi even though it's been in our shop a month

I hope you dont mean dragons crown. That game sucked ass. The real best coop looters are phantasy star online and universe, from 2000 and 2006

explain further. what's happening with titanfall 3?

This, EA kept pulling their experienced programmers to work in FIFA or, ironically, Andromeda

Not much different you're right, but I'm hoping the backlash to all these $60 early access games promotes developers to release finished products.
Instead I'm sure we'll get the opposite and everything will just become Games as a Service.

This is a very real possibility. It's already happened in other parts of the world. For example, China. China is the biggest game market in the world but the ONLY game companies that exist there peddle nothing but F2P MMORPGs/MMORTSs/FPSes because nothing else makes money. And as the years have gone by, 'live services' have comprised an increasingly larger part of the game market. For EA specifically, live services are now 50% of their total revenue, while at other companies like Activision it's 70%+ .

>Europe passes gambling laws that hamstring FIFA
Oh the magnificent butthurt it would cause

CDPR survives for three reasons:

>1. Development costs in Poland are cheap because labor costs are the vast majority of costs, and those are low.
>2. Since there's no profitable single player game market in Eastern Europe due to piracy and lack of console proliferation, they sell almost everything in the West.
>3. They treat their employees like dog shit and pay them peanuts.

If any one of those things go away then the company dies.

EA would legit make more money just cutting Europe out of the market. You have no idea how insanely profitable they are relative to their costs.

(Not that this is going to work in the first place, "lootboxes" are no more gambling than trading cards are)

>forgetting they own gog which offsets any development costs

what I find hilarious is
>bioware shits the bed with anthem
>hey let's take all these leads that worked on anthem and have them work on the next dragon age

The main problem with the discussion around whose fault Anthem is is that EA and Bioware were both responsible for it but people often don't properly delineate who caused what. Apparently flying, which is actually godawful in Anthem but people seem to talk it up for some reason, is only in the game because the EA said it should be. The general schedule, lack of direction, and looter shooter design are all on Bioware.

But a number of other fundamental development problems are squarely on EA's shoulders. It's generally understood you get less budget and less support if you don't use Frostbite or aren't making a high profit ratio game. So Bioware uses Frostbite not because it's forced to but because circumstances make its downsides less of a concern than if they don't. But since they're also not making Fifa bucks anyway the Frostbite support team, which are all Battlefield devs too, places them low on the priority list for development help with the engine. Even worse, as was said, when Bioware did have good in house Frostbite programmers, EA would poach them for other teams. EA didn't exactly go out of their way to knee cap Bioware, but they certainly weren't giving them the proper support they needed.

I'd say the biggest problem though is simply that Bioware has been stumbling from one project to the next since DA2. It's taken awhile for the stories to come out, but it's becoming clear every single Bioware game since DA2, and including it, has had a terrible development cycle. Too little time, too much crunch, and this typically ends up impacting the next game too which is left to flounder until the first game comes out. But now the next game also needs to do the same thing again, which passes the buck down to the next game again. What we're seeing now is just the build up of this terrible development philosophy finally becoming too massive to cover up.

Attached: 1550571786146.jpg (742x667, 133K)

Next DA isn't happening, they'd be crazy to allow these people to develop another game

I was going to make a joke about anyone non European playing FIFA but then remembered South America exists

Fucking Mexicans and Argentineans ruining everyone for everyone again

And yes, trading cards - specifically trading card games like mtg, ARE gambling, they work off the same pysche levers

This bit about their dev cycle is key, they even talked about Bioware Magic and how fucking retarded and myopic it was in the Scheirer article. So much so the devs for DAI actually wanted the game to fail so they would stop

>I dont give a shit what these childish video game players want. Look, dumbass just follow the formula and the notes from the power presentation and make a fucking money making machine, okay? Now get the fuck out of my office.

I don't know why leftists think diversity and multiculturalism work when history has proved them wrong every single time.

They honestly never had a doubt in their minds that we, the public wouldn't eat up this "live service" game push. It looks like it literally never occured to them that they couldn't just make this so, and we would accept it. It boggles the mind. Let this show how much contempt they have for us. We are walking wallets that will lay down and accept whatever they tell us to. Imagine the arrogance. Fuck. E.A.

Attached: 165738.png (532x366, 45K)

They didn't. Destiny 2 was miles better than the state of destiny 1 at launch, it was only missing a bunch of improvements that were added to Destiny 1 post launch and also had less content in comparison to the end product of 1. Some of this was likely because Destiny 2's development was disconnected from what was being introduced into 1 at the time.

That and Destiny 2 tried to change things up a bit in regards to the gameplay, which wasn't that popular with the playerbase.

I genuinely can't tell whether people are being sarcastic or if they genuinely don't know what 62% means here

Battlefield 4 was excellent as well, but that was before Dice became a bunch of faggots

They never confirmed the end of the main series, they just said that they put it on hold due to AL.

Zampella is promising the community that there will be more Titanfall coming later this year and that it won't be Apex, or something like that.

Yes, PSU clementine. The discord is currently on fire because the redditors just lost their voice chat channel and they are crying lol

EA desperately needs their original IP's to do well since alot of their money comes from licenced properties (FIFA, Star wars, other sports franchises). If they dont have strong IP's of their own then they are reliant on thrid party sources for their income and if they keep fucking up they can have those licences revoked/ non renewed.

this kind of short-changing is endemic in the corporate world. When the people making all the value judgements about a process don't even know what it involves, they typically underestimate the work involved and accuse people of being lazy, etc.

If only someone could travel back in time to 2010 and tell them to not fuck Dead Space up. Imagine a Dead Space from this gen. It could still be printing them money right now. Dumb greedy fucks.

I thought this too once but then I heard how miserable all the employees were. It would be great if they stayed in business forever draining the life out of their SJWs and draining money out of EA.

>“Yes.”
>EA turned his head.
>“No, Bioware, Look down there acrost the river, like you can almost see the

>Bioware obeyed him. EA looked down at the gun.
>There were crashing footsteps in the brush now. Bioware turned and looked

>“Gonna do it soon.”
>“Me an’ you.”

>“No,” said EA, I ain’t mad. I never been mad, an’ I ain’t
>That’s a thing I want ya to know.”
>The reviews came close now. EA raised the gun and listened to the shareholders .
>Bioware begged, “Le’s do it now. Le’s get that place now.”
>“Sure, right now. I gotta. We gotta.”
And EA raised the gun and steadied it, and he brought the muzzle of it to the back of biowares head, and pulled the trigger

HAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

I got a real sense of this when I played all the God of War games. Each one had these long behind the scenes extras on them. Each game they made came down to stress, anxiety, and a tremendous amount of crunch time. Then I noticed how many times these guys switched roles, or just flat out left the company. That industry has been burning people completely out and churning out turnover forever, it seems. How has no one stooped this earlier, I don't know.

>USA
>literally the prime example of cultural decay
>the most poluted and dangerous 1st world nation despite being the most powerful and rich

In the past it wasn't this bad.
A small team could make a game easily.
It's just, over time, game development has gotten way more complex and, at the same time, shareholders have gotten more and more jewish, so they demand yearly shit.

What i'm surprised is not hearing anything about Ubisoft regarding crunch time, considering the amount of open world games they release every year.

Define RPG because outward just came out

My favorite quote:
>“America is the wealthiest nation on Earth, but its people are mainly poor, and poor Americans are urged to hate themselves. To quote the American humorist Kin Hubbard, 'It ain’t no disgrace to be poor, but it might as well be.' It is in fact a crime for an American to be poor, even though America is a nation of poor. Every other nation has folk traditions of men who were poor but extremely wise and virtuous, and therefore more estimable than anyone with power and gold. No such tales are told by the American poor. They mock themselves and glorify their betters. The meanest eating or drinking establishment, owned by a man who is himself poor, is very likely to have a sign on its wall asking this cruel question: 'if you’re so smart, why ain’t you rich?' There will also be an American flag no larger than a child’s hand – glued to a lollipop stick and flying from the cash register.

Americans, like human beings everywhere, believe many things that are obviously untrue. Their most destructive untruth is that it is very easy for any American to make money. They will not acknowledge how in fact hard money is to come by, and, therefore, those who have no money blame and blame and blame themselves. This inward blame has been a treasure for the rich and powerful, who have had to do less for their poor, publicly and privately, than any other ruling class since, say Napoleonic times. Many novelties have come from America. The most startling of these, a thing without precedent, is a mass of undignified poor. They do not love one another because they do not love themselves.”

― Kurt Vonnegut, Slaughterhouse-Five

U.S. is probably the best example ever of how multiculturalism turns countries into shitholes.

can EA just die already

please

Don't worry, after this they'll kill Bioware, then when DICE keeps fucking it up they'll kill DICE, then when EU laws fuck up microtransactions in the continent where 99% of FIFAs sales are made they'll kill the FIFA team, and they'll go down in flames when they realize they have no developers left.

>team does jack shit for 6 years

Modern immigrants from Asia are different from the ones who've had a formative influence on America.
"Diverse" does include groups of different thinking peoples. The early European immigrants were all religious weirdos. If you think that isn't something, let me tell you about the Amish.
You're idea of culture is probably some archaic definition or wrapped up in concepts of tradition. What people try to preserve in books and handed down rituals isn't living breathing culture. Spend some time with different generations of people and you'll see how entire concepts, interpersonal relationships, expectations, social interactions etc. have all changed. The culture of society isn't preserved even across a ten year span.

don't you mean brazil? I agree with you but brazil is the prime example

Sadly, nothing can kill EA. Even if their games are not selling as well as they hope, they still sell millions. EA could shit on a disc and call it a game, and millions of drooling idiots would rush out to buy it. They rely entirely on a good advertisement campaign and brand name to get the casuls to buy their games.

>6 million
Just when you think EA couldn't be more out of touch.

Attached: 1516072781098.jpg (228x221, 8K)

Tradition?
I'm talking about how the USA is now.
It's a nation that's so balls deep overtaken by consumerism that even their political activism is all about the amount of minorities there are in the latest superhero movie.
Everything about America is a sterile nation where it's all about buying and consuming.
And this is your example?

I don't know the history of Brazil, was it actually good at one point?

anthem is good considering their actual time spent working on it 1.5 years (+3 years of dicking around)

It should've been a free to play game with microtransactions. Like a cell phone game for consoles. They know this, we know this, but because it's not on a phone, 60 dollars please.

Bioware did not have a full-on failure under EA. Andromeda didn't even merit a "underperformed our expectations" line like Anthem, and they defended the IP when a shareholder insinuated about killing it. DAI made Yea Forums made but sold well and got great reviews, ditto ME3. TOR may have underperformed but still earned a decent chunk of change.

Anthem is a genuine failure (from I what can gather it did half of their expectations) and may change things.

Bioware was never good.

>some kike poetry defaces the Statue of Liberty 30 years after it is gifted by France

I love illegal aliens now!

What is shocking is that BioWare did this to themselves.

Bioware and DICE are both gonna join EA's private graveyard soon (and that's a good thing)

The story of Anthem is a clusterfuck. On one hand, the devs are clearly incompetent and had no capable leader in the team ("can't someone else do it? will anyone tell us what to do?"), and the EA dude who finally came down and delivered the smackdown was also your stereotypical suit who wanted everything BIGGER, MORE EXPLOSIONS, but he's also the guy who insisted that they keep the Ironman suits (there were planning on removing them??). A mess all around.

I think you're being disingenuously reductive. Pop culture and politics aren't the totality of culture.
I used to feel like wanton consumerism was a force of only destruction, but I realized how much the excess wealth generated by it has has enabled. From small businesses to niche cultures, it's somehow managed to support things that seem inefficient. Yea Forums itself owes something to network of advertisements that keep it alive and here we have another micro culture partially predicated on counter-culture and anti-consumerism.

More like
>Skinwalker I try to trick people into thinking is Bioware, I think it's finally time we took that walk...

That would imply Yea Forums being alive is something good.

More like EA wanted a good excuse to finally pull the plug on Bioware

Crazy to me bioware made KOTOR and now its come to them releasing some loot shooter that bricked consoles. What a disaster. EA has some blame, but bioware fucked up.

Dude crazy that they made baldura gate 2, I wonder how many of the developers of the late 90s are still in the company.

What's the bigger disaster, this game or Fallout 76?

Isn't it strange that they started rapidly declining the moment they were bought by EA, just like all those other studios that did the same thing when they too were bought by EA?
I wonder why that could be, or whose fault this could possibly be?
