Basically any regular forest/plains biome before they did that shitty update that fucked up the terrain generation. Just having some open fields, some trees, and a nice beach area with some water was the optimal and most visually pleasing place to build a base.

One of my first worlds was in a taiga (back when they were all snowy, now I think the snowy version is a variation) and I found it super comfy. There was something about the snow and the pine trees that made me feel like a woodsman.

They're still adding the shit for savannah and desert just at a later date

Yeah it's pretty good. Plus you can always roll back to earlier updates if you don't like the newer ones. Minecraft is pretty much the one and only game you'd ever really need imo since there are so many servers and game modes that you can play other games within Minecraft. I always find myself crawling back to it and might in fact even play it tonight.

Yeah, people are normally pretty laid back especially if you go into a gamemode server or vanilla survival. Of course you always run the risk of a server having a clique and shitty admins or moderators, but that's to be expected. To avoid that I'd look for servers with upwards of 100 players. Besides, even on servers though you're free to play by yourself most times. I've met quite the number of interesting people on Minecraft.

Desert is maximum comfy, I have a desert that has a naturally spawning small flower forest in the middle of it, which makes for a great oasis.
There's also a Desert village which I'm renovating and adding to.

The best part to me is being able to build things together with friends, which is something you don't find in many other games, or creative mediums in general.
I think that's part of what made Minecraft so successful. Even for those who aren't creative, they can still do things to help their creative friends and still have fun in the process.

You can, but it depends on the server. I'm pretty sure there's some Yea Forums server you could join to try making friends.
I personally prefer irl friends, but those are more difficult to come by.
Also Civ 6 is pretty good too, especially with the Gathering Storm expansion and the Civ 5 environment textures.
