Pathologic 2 is nearly upon us. I'll be avoiding all threads when it releases until I can properly finish it, which will probably be a while. So, let's have a comfy thread right now and discuss our unfinished business with the first game. Be careful with spoilers though, there are always newcomers to these threads.
Now then, what I'd like to know about is Simon Kain's immortality. For most of the paranormal events in the game (the plague, the albino..), we get several conflicting interpretations, depending on the character witnessing the events. We don't know for sure what the real explanation is (that's the point), but there is always atleast one explanation. Simon however was simply stated to be 200 years old when he died, and that was that. No questions asked, no further explanation given. His immortality is the plot hook for Bachelor's storyline, but instead of finding a logical, rational reason like he does for everything else, Simon's longevity is quickly forgotten. We know there was something special about his blood, but that can't be all there is to it. Maybe I'm forgetting something? It just seems like a missing piece to me, especially because Daniil's route goes in depth for everything else related to the Kains.
How much is it going to be? Theres no price listed on the steam page. Also its just going to be the first episode, right?
Owen Brown
Enjoyed the demo greatly despite the awful performance in places, it really seems like they know exactly what they're doing.
Anyone else see the veins in the ground in places? Got a real nasty chill down my spine when I saw that, really excited to see how we're going to operate on the town itself.
Daniel Baker
I can never get myself to play Pathologic all the way despite me playing The Void and enjoying the shit out of it.
Jordan Hughes
What's stopping you? True it plays like ass but you get used to it fairly quickly. I found the setting and atmosphere were enough to keep me hooked past the initial hurdles, and then the plot kicked in and my complaints were rapidly swept under the carpet.
May 23, and it's only going to be the Haruspex route, one third of the game. Don't know if each episode will be sold on its own or if you have to pay the whole price right now, but the finished game will probably be around $30? How much money do they expect to make? They spent all the Kickstarter money, so they need to sell enough copies to be able to make the second and third parts; but I assume the backers will make up a sizable part of the playerbase, and they already paid for the game.
both games are a bit different, i can see some people liking one and not the other and etc, i like both games and i have a hard time choosing which one i like more, i really like the mystery, creativity and other worldliness in both of them
Robert Roberts
seems like these threads are even harder than usual to get going.
at least it won't be long now before we get things going.
Here's a riddle for all of you who played The Void: one of the developers stated in an interview, amongst other things, that only ONE Sister acted out of selfless love towards you.
Can you guess which one, and give some arguments?
Dylan Cooper
Here's something for you then The one I saved the first time was Ole, but there will always be a special place in my heart for Montgolfier
ole? cuz she was promised to you for marriage if i remember correctly, plus she wasnt really selfish at all, but i might be wrong
Asher Turner
Since nobody else is posting, I'll just give the answer (warning, this can really spoil future playthroughs/your waifu): it's Sister Echo.
Ian Bailey
oh lol, never thought of her, i know that she roams around, but i didnt knew that well
Bentley Young
I think it's her for the obvious reasons, she does everything she can and then some to help you survive at her own expense; but at the same time I think she goes too far with it, it's beyond selfless love and into slavish devotion/masochistic self-destruction. There's a ton of parallels between her and Eva from Pathologic (the misguided "just trying to help" girl who, so consumed with the urge to help but not knowing what else to do, kills herself) and while her reasons might make sense to her, they're made entirely by her with no input from you. Selfishly selfless, I guess?
Ole's another good candidate but I don't remember her nearly as well to be able to argue for or against. The "I was born for you" thing is a little suspect.
now that i think about it wasnt Echo the one that suggested that you transcend yourself?
Angel Taylor
>tags: emotionless sex, disinterested footjob
Huh. Maybe I'll actually talk to her one of these times. Most of her early lines were borderline tutorial tier so I didn't really have much interest in her.
Samuel Williams
Yes, exactly.
This is intentional. She repeats some of the tutorial lines, but in such a way as to straighten out the lies Sister Death served you. She does it for a few Sisters, in fact.
Brandon Hughes
Hadn't thought of it that way. What colors was she again? Purple and silver? I always hoard my silver on playthroughs after the first now that I know it lessens how fast you wreck gardens and spawn monsters.
>lies should probably spoiler that one mate, even if there's only like 3 of us in the thread.
Was she doing it deliberately? Or did she just not know the truth? She wanted you to stay close to her and not go out exploring, if she knew that wasting color attracts predators and ruins gardens, she'd have to know that staying in her one little garden for long would ruin it and starve you both.
Samuel Perry
I never ascended all of them, but from what I remember:
>Uta Lethargic and apathetic. She barely does anything for you until you save her from Mantid, but after that it seems like she gets new hope and trusts you. >Death That would seem the obvious choice. Too obvious, maybe. After all, if you resurect and save her, you're the one acting out of love, not her. >Ava Arrogant and superior, but never hostile or mean. She probably thinks that you'll never make it on your own, and that she has to be in charge for you to survive. So, she means well in her own way. >Ima Could be her. She's not really doing anything for you, but she seems to be one of the more sincere ones. >Ole She seems honest. Doesn't give you false hope, but doesn't tell you to abandon hope either. Doesn't demand anything from you, but will accept your sacrifice. Then again, she might just be manipulating you, but that's true for all of them. >Echo uhh.. Her advice is kinda useless, but I guess she means well? >Aya Feral bitch. Always seems angry at me for some reason. Maybe she's just tsundere? >Yani Makes me uneasy. She's seems and looks the most innocent, but for some reason I feel like I can never trust her. >Ire Barely talked to her. Mommy >Una Dangerous psycho, keep away. >Eli Don't remember anything about her, but she has a nice blimp.
I think she is the case of a person who seeks a "lover" in order to commit group suicide together, so as not to die alone.
Benjamin Morales
i hope when they finish Pathalogic 2, they make The Void 2 lol or desu a completely new IP would be good too
Henry Murphy
>never played the first one but watched a few reviews on it >tried the demo yesterday >uninstalled after 30 minutes due to finding the whole experience dreadfully boring Hell, even the developers themselves admitted the game (at least the original) wasn't meant to be fun, but I'm still buying it and forcing myself through it when it comes out because I'd rather support this shit than a half-baked soulless microtransactions galore
I've already given the answer that the developer gave: it's Echo. And listen closely to what she is saying, and HOW she is saying it. You'll see the differences then.
Jose Ward
yeah they arent meant to be fun, not in the mainstream way at least, still i really like their games, if i was a gamedev id make something similar to the void
Carson Scott
Never stick your dick in crazy This is usually the part where I get the banhammer
you might find it better than you thought initially. the demo seemed like it was trying to get plenty of nods to the crowd that played the original, but also a few things to try and let new people know it's not just a walking simulator. like starting it on the final day where everything has gone to absolute shit, and working a fisticuffs tutorial in.
i mean yeah there's going to be a lot of walking involved, no denying that. but it's worth mentioning that things get very interesting and absolutely batshit insane in the plot department. it's a slow burn but everything will be well and truly on fire before long.
Tell me about it. Had an actual Yandere girlfriend (10/10 in looks, way above my league). It was a horror show after some time. The only thing I regre is that I was too young/Innocent to take advantage of her being a complete deviant in bed.
Nicholas Davis
No, (You) tell me about it.
Ryder Thompson
i actually liked how they added the train and the journey to the city sequence, very well done
Nicholas Turner
Basically: >10/10 in looks (slim, pale skin; thick, long hair; large, impossibly perky tits, like a fucking anime character etc.) >very inteligent >had a hellish childhood >obsessive and jealous about anyone and anything >huge daddy issues >did not know the word "no" in bed (fucked her in a supermarket booth; did anal with her parents in the next room with no lock; she loved rimming me; wanted me to piss on her; was into hardcore femdom (I still have scars))
Andrew Hall
yeah, a fighting tutorial was the last thing I expected to see in an IPL game but they worked it in pretty well and threw in enough weirdness/steppe lore that I almost didn't notice.
I like the idea that most people will just straight up surrender instead of fighting to the death, though I imagine some people won't.
Well I never played the original. Pathologic 2 is basically a remake for the most part?
Oliver Powell
cont. >her bouts of neurotic jealousy became more and more frequent, >finally intentionally spilled coffee on my brand new computer, >strangled her against a wall, made her repay me, >had her move out a few weeks later, >the night before she moved out she still wanted me to plow her ass
Ayden Cruz
>I like the idea that most people will just straight up surrender instead of fighting to the death, though I imagine some people won't. desu i thought in the beginning you cant win, but yeah you can beat up the guy
Evan Martinez
And what was a horror show later user?
Ian Hughes
Best girl, best domain.
Sort of? A re-imagining more like. Or a second draft. It's not a sequel, though there's stuff in there for people who have played the first.
If you're bored it's worth giving the original (HD Classic) a look before 2 drops, there's lots of interesting shit to pick up on and speculah over what's different and why.
Kayden Diaz
Imagine, after a minor (to you), argument, she goes to the bathroom, and comes back a few minutes later with several cuts on her wrists, spurting blood all over. That's just one example.
Hunter Robinson
It's just as well the game is releasing in chunks because hopefully I'll actually get around to upgrading my shit PC between now and when it's all ready.
Aaron Jenkins
yeah, i have seen all 3 paths so i definitely want something new story/quest wise
Brandon Collins
>you can hear meowing in the kid's warehouse but you can't see a cat I THOUGHT FOR SURE THIS WAS GONNA BE THE DAY I SAW THAT FUCKING INVISIBLE CAT
