Surpassed both imo, but GTA V has the sales argument I guess. RDR1 has a much lower metacritic, GoTY count and sale count than it, so by every metric, RDR2 is better.

I've been hearing this alot. Pretty sure you're either fatigued with the Rockstar formula or Open World games in general.
Because there's no way you could prefer RDR1 over RDR2 without one of those two things being the case. It simply does everything better, gameplay, more content, better graphics etc. Good thing I rarely touch open world games unless it's one made by Rockstar or CDPR.

I disagree. RDR2 has way better stranger events and objectively more single player side content.
Just compare the home robberies to any of the side content in GTA V and it's not even close
