Fatal Frame is just Luigi's Mansion for retards.
Gaming
Why is this even a thread. What the fuck, c'mon man. Nobody here even played Fatal "BASED ON A TRUE STORY" Frame
*raises hand*
I played it
>TFW NoA botched this the recent game
The only Wii U game I would want to be brought over too the Switch would be Fatal Frame 5 fixed and uncensored.
Actually it's more like if Luigi's Mansion was made by Japan.
Fatal Frame Maiden of Black Water worth picking up a Wii U.
I wanted a Fatal Frame thread but not like this, man. LM is good but come the fuck on.
I honestly think 5 holds steady even with the censorship but by all means, hold true to your values. I didn't care much for the costumes because I play these games for the atmosphere and that was left untouched but I won't deny that Yuri's is a bit cute, even if I find Miu's to be a bit silly.
For me it was but a.) I fucking love this series to the point where I even think Spirit Camera is good, b.) I was hyped for the gamepad implementation which, mixed as the reception was, I also greatly enjoyed, and c.) I didn't care about the censorship at all on a personal level, my need for more Fatal Frame greatly outweighed my reservations on that front. I'd say if you can get a WiiU on the cheap then give it a look and maybe then softmod it if there's nothing else for it that you want.
I'm guessing this is the USA cover
Yeah, it's pretty fucking bad. Game's good but you'd never buy it based on that cover.
About Mask of Lunar Eclipse.
Am I correct to assume, that Fatal Frame's main creator wrote that big butt girl who is the main character of the game due to obvious but spoilery reasons, Suda wrote that other, brunette girl messed in the head, and the dude who wrote Matchmaker from 25th Ward and Lolipop Chainsaw, wrote the detective guy?
It's good but god did RE going full shooter fuck up everything. It's basically a behind the back action game chopped up into short missions and a million ghosts popping up everywhere for you to BLAST. Feels very arcadey, or rollercoastery if that makes sense.
If you like your survival horror to lean way more on the action side then maybe go for it, but if you're looking for something like the first 3 games then 5 is not it.
Fatal Frame Collection on Switch when
Why would nintendo buy this license if they're allergic to horror games
Pretty much my favorite horror series along with classic RE.
Wish there was more like this.
5 is definitely the most action heavy but I still think it feels like a Fatal Frame, I'd maybe say it's like comparing RE3 to RE1/2 instead of saying it's more RE4/5/6. Definitely more action oriented but still firmly rooted in classic franchise traditions.
I don't know what black magic the series has worked because in terms of sales it should have died with 2, maybe 3. I honestly don't know what keeps this series afloat, it has to be someone's passion project or something.
they've mistreated the series so hard it's actually upsetting to think about. And because it's Nintendo they will never let the license go either.
Kind of. Under their wing there's been 2 mainline games, 1 remake, 1 handheld spinoff, a movie and a manga. Their localization efforts have been absolutely mangled but Nintendo's been pretty okay to the series in terms of general support.
>Spirit Camera
a bad gimmick
>2 remake
Actually offensive, censored and above all completely unnecessary remake that no one should play. Also never came out in the US for some reason. No support.
>4
Forced waggle and didn't even get localized because they thought there wasn't a market for Fatal Frame in the west. No support.
>5
Forced waggle and censored. No support.
It's was a trainwreck, my guy.
The 2 remake was a faithful remake that improved on the graphics and kept the game basically the same and didnt turn it into some nonsense like some remakes. It was great.
SC's biggest sin was being on the 3DS. The AR gimmick was fine but the hardware was just too shitty to handle playing in anything less than absolute daylight, which is a travesty for a Fatal Frame game. Never played the 2 remake but I liked 4 & 5 just fine. Hell, I liked them more than 3 actually. Waggle's never been an argument I've taken seriously and 5's censorship is unfortunate but didn't impact anything that made the game actually good. Still bothered about no localization for 4, though anyone who has wanted to play it badly enough has had a way for the better part of a decade now. So yeah, maybe not as good as the PS2 heydays but I hardly think the series has collapsed, I still quite like the series at present.
>Best ending for PS2 version ends with best girl becoming permanently blind and her sister is actually happy for it since she's utterly dependent on her now
Jesus Christ
>Listen, what if we remake one of the greatest horror games ever made for no reason, but also instead of making anything actually better we just put all the worst parts of Lunar Eclipse in there instead?
God, at some point someone actually came up with that idea and it was greenlit. I remember disliking it so much I never actually finished it. It has to be one of the worst remakes ever, I can't think of one that annoys my brain more, not even Reshelled.
It's beautiful is what it is.
