On the subject of the Nintendo Switch,

personally I think it's a piece of basedboy garbage akin to the Pii U. Slow, out of date hardware that can't even maintain a solid 20fps docked in your moms butt cheeks.

Niggers think it's the hottest thing because of an empty open world game from last generation. But most importantly, I HAVE TO SEE A SINGLE GAME THAT IS NOT A PORT.

The fact that there are 0 new games on the horizon aside from the shitty Babytendo IPs that get worse every iteration. I have to say I pity the fools that actually collected their lunch money to buy this heap of chink shit.

Switch has basically become a platformer+arcade machine for me, and I love it. It's great purely because of the form factor and ease of docked mode paired with a pokken controller or 8bitdo SNES pad. Having mario, DKC, rayman, shantae, mega man, sonic, the full genesis collection, neo geo classics like metal slug and shock troopers, third strike, king of fighters, some of the best shmups ever made like ikaruga and dragon blaze, it's peak comfy. It's better than just emulating due to the hardware capabilities. It's getting a steady stream of new games too.

Boxboy and Splatoon 2, waiting for Mario Maker but boy they really need to hurry up with this shit and show us more vidya

Waiting until I get back from my work trip to start Tales of Vesperia. I'm leaning towards making my switch my primary JRPG machine but I'll grab P5R for the ps4 (I never got P5).

What else is there on switch in terms of JRPG? I know of romancing saga and a bunch of final fantasy rereleases, but it doesn't seem to be a particularly JRPG focused library.

I just got my Switch and set a Big Ben screen protector perfectly. Feels good man.
Currently playing smash bros, as i skipped the whole WiiU experience, i see it has tons of content compared to Melee. Gameplay with a pro controller is a bit clunky to my taste, the controller does not respond as well as the good old game cube controller used to. Am i the only one thinking this?

Do you mean the sensitivity? Bump it up to high and it feels a little more like melee. If you're talking about latency there's not much you can do unfortunately. Have you decided on a main yet?

Are you talking about online or offline play? Offline, it could simply be because of your stick sensitivity. If online, then it's because of the increased input lag and the whole shitty connection that makes shit feel clunky.

I'll try out the sensitivity bump to see if it feels better. But i think it has more to do with latency. That sucks.
Anyway, i haven't decided on a main yet, as i unlocked only 3 characters so far. I used to main the ganondorf on melee so maybe i'll get to main him once again who knows.

It's counter intuitive but pro controller latency is worse when wired, so maybe try playing it wireless if you're not already doing so. The switch itself has some unavoidable baked in delay, but at least everyone's on equal footing. Fingers crossed it eventually gets addressed in an update, you're not the only one to feel the difference.

I love my SP, but I hope they don't. Nintendo always make weak hinges that wobble, and they're nearly always the first point of failure (and hard to home repair since it's often related to the casing). I'd love to have a more portable version of the switch but they'd need to do more than that. Looking at your pic they'd be making it twice as thick while only losing the width of the joycons.

All versions of the 3DS have it, but especially the new 3dsxl/2dsxl. Unfortunately they're the most recent iterations and are closest to the quality we're likely to see on a switch revision. It might be worse on switch too since it's larger (if they keep the same screen size) and therefore heavier. Not trying to shitpost, I'd buy a clamshell switch day one for sure.

I'm down for that. Only shmups I ever really got into were Mars Matrix and R-Type. Thinking about trying Ikaruga.

I'm pretty sure they said it was going to be 2-player. They're also adding in 2 new characters.

They're pretty damn sturdy from my experience and I've even dropped mine on concrete.

Ikaruga's fantastic and has a vertical mode, perfect with a stand or rotating monitor. I highly recommend the developer Psikyo too, some of the best in the genre and nearly all are available on switch for cheap (you can get two for the price of ikaruga). They're all saturn era, and known for having fast bullets and aggressive playstyles (which vary quite a bit between selectable characters). I recommend Dragon Blaze or Gunbird, but you can't go wrong with any of them.

Danmaku Unlimited 3 is pretty fun too, for a non-Japanese bullet hell. Probably not as crazy as Rolling Gunner though.

If you hold down the home button you can get a volume slider.

It only takes a second to slide out, it's firmly in place but it's no harder than removing a joycon. Not ideal but IMO it's worth it for comfy arcade games, especially since it's only around $10. You still have access to the home button and can put the system to sleep from there.

I finished Shantae Half-Genie Hero. I've got Xenoblade Golden Country on my backlog. Only played it for like, 5 hours before putting it down, and that was sometime in December or January I believe. Should I pick up where I left off or just start off?

Super Mario Maker 2 comes out in June. That's about all I can think of.

There'll probably be several shadow drops at E3. I'm looking forward to several localisations due in 2019, but Nintendo have been pretty quiet on first party stuff. We know there'll be a new pokemon and animal crossing this year but I imagine there'll be at least one more big game still to come.
