My headcanon is that each Calamity in the Source links it with one of the Shards. The Calamity that was caused by the Crystal Tower overloading and causing an Earthquake linked the Source with the First, which is why the Crystal Tower suddenly appeared in the First.
Once all the Shards are linked to the Source, they all collapse onto it and reform the original Hydaelyn.

People cherrypick 1.0 cutscenes a lot. There were a few specific cutscenes that had mocap but the rest were generic cooypasted emotes like ARR. They must have really blew their budget on those mocap and graphics because the rest of the game from the translation to the client/server optimization was abysmal.

ilvl sync just syncs your level and item level down so it adjusts itself for the content you queued for, like if you're level 53 and you queue for praetorium you'll be synced down to 50 and ilevel 130 or 110 i forgot

I miss when relics made you do old content. It helped populate old zones and queues. At the very least I can choose what I can do instead of being forced to grind in one specific area.

By virtue of a lot of XIV's story being text bubbles and there being SO MUCH story, it's by far one of the most thoroughly executed and higher quality FF stories in the series. But that's the rub. A lot of it has to be read. There isn't a lot of voiced, high quality, AAA cutscenes. It's also all locked behind a MMORPG format. It's there, but you'll have to see for yourself how much you like the way its delivered.

If a dungeon doesn't have a listed ilvl sync then it's the max for that expansion. Level 50 dungeons sync to i130, 60 to i270, and 70 should sync to i400 with 5.0.

Ah, right. There's two types of iL sync.
There's a hard iL sync which locks your gear to a specific iL, like 100 or something.
Then there's soft iL sync which locks your gear to its highest possible iL for that character level. So for example if I'm wearing iL400 gear for a lv70 character and I join the Praetorium which is a lv50 dungeon, my gear would by synced down to iL130 - which was the highest possible iL you could get at lv50.

They want to say that the light and dark are equal forces in good and evil, but they haven't presented that at all, not even with the flood of light which happened because the heroes on that world were acting as a force for good against evil.

If all strife and suffering in the world is vanquished, and there is no trouble to be overcome, if you have unlimited wealth and prosperity, there's no point to living and improvement and it leads eventually to breakdown and degradation.

There isn't really a reason not to. The duneons are designed to be completed at their mininum ilvl so you shouldn't have too much trouble as long as you can get in. There are only 4 level 50 dungeons as part of the MSQ. Castrum Meridianum, Praetorium, Snowcloak, and Keeper of the Lake. The first 2 are designed for i50. Snowcloak is i80 and KotL is i90. You can trade your poetics in for i120 Ironworks gear at Mor Dhona and then upgrade it to i130.

The live letter wasted a bunch of time and didn't present all of crucial information (such as tooltips). They fucking took an hour to talk about PVP changes too.

She then summoned a primal and then used that power to tear down Dannifen's Collar so that the dragons could slaughter more civilians inside Ishgard.

So basically, as someone running the Praetorium for the first time, I'm likely going to be severely gimped compared to the rest of my party unless I work the market and buy stuff I'm technically not supposed to have yet

They were accurate translation and potency errors aside.

The tooltips aren't finished yet in the media tour game builds. Numbers were off or translation wasn't correct. So even if people leak its not guaranteed to be correct in the final build. Plus we've seen before that stuff shown in videos aren't guaranteed to show up at release. Remember DRK's darkside animation in the HW job video? It looked different than what we had on early access/release.

That's not the issue. They can come out and say that Light and Dark are equal partners to good and evil, but the story thus far has not shown it. The Flood of Light on the First comes about because the heroes on that world did everything in their power to further the cause of good against evil. The alternative for them would have been to allow evil to exist and fight back for equilibrium. This is a really odd way to tell a "Light vs. Dark" story.

This is honestly shaping up to be the absolute worst expansion.

If you really want you could trade the 500 poetics you got from Castrum Meridianum for a i120 head/hands/feet piece but you're probably better off saving up a bit more for a weapon first.

Again, they themselves admitted that some of this shit doesn't make sense.

The kami actually perfectly interact with the previous lore of how aether and magic work. Aether moves and shapes in response to human belief, so there's no reason it wouldn't manifest kami into reality. And all of the Auspices happened to gain powers in accordance with what people believed they were. Like Suzaku who gained the ability to bring back the dead after she had been infused with aether and that belief for so long.

It has nothing to do with primals. They're like Elementals who also reside in objects.

That also didn't conflict with anything. Primals never specifically needed crystals, crystals were just the easiest method because they're dense, transportable pieces of aether. Susano's treasures contained the necessary aether.

That's one of the worst parts about it, really. Oh well, there will probably be some fun stuff. It's just disappointing.

Scouting and Aiming literally have equal stat budgets. There's no mechanical reason for why it couldn't happen. Dancers in lore appear to be some kind of assassins so it only makes sense.

It's not the biggest plus but how is it not a valid advantage? It's an action RPG so of course sounds, animations and user interface are important. Korean MMOs are made by fucking aliens, my man, they might churn out prettier environments for a bowl of rice but they can't string it into an enjoyable game for the life of them.
