Solution, Chamber and immediately morph into kick.
Your chamber will cancel his attack and going to a kick will not allow him to chamber (with optimal timing), hitting him before he can guard against it. He's likely to be stepping forward during his stab so it is doubtful he will be able to walk out of range. Follow up that kick with another stab which, as long as you aren't using super slow weapon, should get through while the kick has him stunned.

Simple dodging. He's almost always going to stab, so he has to be on point. Set the momentum by strafing one direction. As soon as you see him start his stab, immediately change direction and begin your own attack, you can get him to whiff and you'll get through assuming he doesn't cancel to parry.

Reckless but works (usually) tactic: put up your dukes and punch the shit out of his shield. It's so fast that you can likely get through with haymakers before he can riposte.

why you do this isn't it wasting your team's time?

This is dumb, swords are the most utilitarian weapon in the game, they are able too contest and counter any weapon with their predictable chamber potential. Lets see someone counter half the stuff you can with a sword, with an axe or halberd.

Halberd is literally the best weapon in the game, but also the most expensive.

On Frontlines ? Just accept the fact that this mode is a huge clusterfuck, that you probably won't impact your team too much if you decide to play a fun build dicking in your corner since there is 31 other people on your side and that gold and xp gain is more tied to game time than score. Just embrace the chaos, run a 3 med bag build and be a walking dispenser and then scavenge a weapon on the field, throw rocks at archers with the huntsman perk, etc.
Although, if you just wanna get a good k/d, then Frontlines a few golden rules :
>never trust your teammates with having your back, you'll get backstabbed
>if you see a tard spamming m1 in the middle of your allies, don't EVER walk in thinking they'll parry it and start swinging instead, you and your mates are going to get decapitated
>fortifications are a great help
>be mindful of spawn waves, if you see a red/blue wave coming and you're alone, maybe it's time to retreat

Swords are and always have been side arms on the battlefield. It's your backup weapons.
Spears, polearms, and arrows were always the gods of the battlefield.
Spears especially were super easy to use, super cheap to make, very reliable, and easy to mass produce.

The reason swords are so romanticized is because they were the primary "Weapon" used in rituals, as well as the weapon of choice for personal defense off the battlefield because they were easy to carry on your side but also way more deadly than a knife.

There are some points in the attack animation where you can turn pretty quickly, but on others you're slowed to a crawl, so it's not that bad. It's mostly for fucking with peoples timing and having a chance at 1vX.

Because they kinda weren't the main shit used in war? Polearms were the shit back then. You only switched to a sword if your spearwall broke or they're too close to use a spear anymore. Like with Landsknechts, they'd mainly use pike formations but would switch to a small sword called a "Katzbulgar"(cat gutter) when people got too close and closer they'd switch to a dagger or something.
I mean, Fiori dei liberi had counters with a longsword to a spear, idk if other fencing masters did too, but that was more like a one on one shit. It's a vidya, so broadstrokes, going by rules and not exceptions.

There are numerous armies that had lots of sword wielding infantry. The thing is that they were supported by spears, and cavalry, and some sort of ranged support. But at the same time these sword units were also supporting the others.

I agree that Spears/Bows were in general the main focus of most armies to say that swords were always sidearms is just not true.

How do I use 2 handed swords without getting it stuck in the wall all the time?

Light armor makes you faster in battle and traversing the field and costs less points. However if you try to run away from someone they get a speed boost so they can catch up to and kill you. Otherwise light armor people would just run away after being hit.

Eveningstar has good reach and hits like a bus, but it’s horribly slow. An overhead swing is pretty much a 1 shot to the head, regardless of helmet.

Greatswords are good, it's just arming sword/bastard sword that is left up shit creek. Range is king in Mordhau.

As the user said, you have to turn into the swing. I hear you though. It's thrusts that confound me. I've started my thrust and see them start their thrust and then land it before mine does. What REALLY infuriates me is:

Go third person. World of difference with it. Your situational awareness increases, the risk of not being able to see them feinting/swinging is minimal and my performance (in gameplay, not in FPS) has catapulted since.

Ever since I saw a dev stream with one thrusting 80% of the time where I had been swinging more often, I've taken to thrusting with it and it's godlike. I'm only sad I can't wear a heavy chest and medium helmet. But I like the brigandine so I am happy with it.

Solid armor, just watch out for maulboys aiming for your head, anything less than 3 head armor is still a one-shot. I prefer the short sword over a dagger just for that slight bit better reach.
A Dagger / Short Sword / Cleaver is pretty invaluable against spear/rapierfags for their sheer speed alone. Also you can throw them for a surprise chunk of ranged damage.
Don't overlook the fact that you can morph a swing into a weapon switch. Baiting a parry and then putting out your knife super quick to stab the shit out of them. Alternating between two weapons of greatly different speeds can really fuck with an enemy.

Because of the neat way the game can handle multiple binds on the same key, I have Shift bound for both Sprint and the "Flip Attack Side" so those upper/lower binds can cover both left and right.

I love my mace. Longsword is fun for its versatility, as much as I like the halberd and pole axe I like having things like bandages and med kits to help push an advance.

I love how loadouts are handled in this, with the point system, and its also loose in that there are lots of cosmetics ontop of whatever actual armour you use, I look forward to seeing more stuff added in future, as well as more perks.

Feinting and morphing is useless against good players. Since chambering is just as useless there is very little you can do besides retarded chivalry dragging and spamming.

The shield nerf is actually just going to be an axe buff, they're going to make it so axes break shields, the amount of hits it takes will depend on which axe, which shield, and if you have the wrecker perk/spoiler]

You really don't get a lot of chance to learn how to move and attack when playing with people, you spend more time running around than just cutting with your weapon. I learned more basics from horde mode than jumping straight into frontlines, and then you learn player behavior later fighting people.

Literally sidestep and close in if stab, parry/shield and close in if swing.

Dont panic, teach yourself to actually parry the attack as it hits you, not just press parry when the enemy swings. Learn to do morph attacks and fakeout people. DONT play archer, you are a complete waste of space for your team, archer is for if the enemy is entrenched not open combat, snipe people using catapults and ballistas and you can completely change the pace of a game, but dont make archer your main.

Most of all, accept that you will die, alot, dont get upset, you and everyone else is experiencing the same getting decapitated by team mates and getting flanked by another enemy in the middle of a one on one fight.

Theres 0 rules to follow and the only way in which you will get kicked is if half the server votes yes to the kickvote, which is hard to spot on the screen, aswell as for one to activate(if they are normies). I just enjoy going in on servers with lutebot and playing meme/anime songs and gathering a small squad that defends me from my team who are raging at us not "playing the game properly". havent had this much fun in a game in a while

Also more people should have a build for helping the advance of your team, get a character that has a med bag and use to to help your team move forward, you have no idea how helpfull that shit is in keeping your teams momentum, since spawns come in waves you never want to be left with too many people waiting to spawn, keep as many people in the fight as you can.

All those things are fine, they should not be removed. However, the amount of ranged units should be limited somehow, you have already lost when you have like 5 archers on your team missing every shot.

Because the game has a similar level of seriousness of TF2. More then half the team is going to be useless and not contributing to the objective but whatever just roll with it and have fun. Find a competitive duel or deathmatch server if you want something more serious then front lines.

One big thing they can do to improve balance is to actually use the block view tolerance stat. At present almost every weapon has the exact same settings. Which means it's as easy to block with a rapier as to block with a halberd or great sword. And the stamina drain from parrying is minimal. It's around 11 for an arming sword, 13 for a halberd.

u wot? Morphs delay your attack, which means you're going to eat shit if someone was going to chamber you (because you gave them more time for their attack to come out). Thrust morph into Overhead gets beaten out by an attempted thrust chamber 100% of the time.

Not really, there are some that are easier to spam and get easy kills with but they are not unbeatable to fight.

As much complaining as you'll see, majority of weapons actually are pretty balanced. Some definitely are worse than others, but still very viable.
Shields are going to be nerfed soon.
I imagine spears and rapiers will be as well.

This is the bullshit right here, I think maybe chambered attacks should have the player do a different attack after the chamber, like if you chambered the enemies thrust attack they have to use another attack that isnt thrust as the follow up, not just do the same attack again.

That video implies 1hand sword+shield beats spears, if the person is used to using a shield and fighting against spears. On the battlefield, you wouldn't just use a sword or any 1handed weapon with no shield unless you had armor. Off the battlefield, nobody carries around a cumbersome spear in daily life.
