>small roster out of a great catalogue of past and present characters >customization worse than prior entries in the series >barely any content to do in game >online is filled with cinematic assholes who spam the same cinematic feature bullshit >take forever to release dlc to help improve shitty, tiny roster
>>small roster out of a great catalogue of past and present characters People wanted them to go back and drop the time skip characters.
Colton Robinson
Cool but where is Cassandra, Yun-seong, Algol, Setsuka, and Hilda. You could easily fit them in without mentioning any of the last batch of shitty fill ins.
Zachary Robinson
none of those characters are even remotly close to being as popular as the top characters in 6, that said cassandra is next. anyone beyond 2 is a literally who
Zachary Morris
It is literally taking them forever to release Cassandra, the only way I would actually buy this game. Its been months since I heard anything about the game. Its not about being popular, its about having characters which this game is lacking.
Luis Ward
>waaaaaaaahhhhhhh I want more characters now now now! Mommy!!!111!!
why are modern gamers so impatient?
Xavier Bailey
Because back in the day, fighting games were finished at release.
Nicholas Evans
i don't care about more characters my boi Geralt is enough for me. Too bad this game gets annoying really fast thanks to reversal edge
I regret buying this + season pass than I regret buying the Collectors Edition of Spore
Oliver Hill
third strike has less characters than SCVI, it's clear you're butthurt your favorite literally who didn't get in over characters like kilik or nightmare
Henry Morgan
Cinematic at work!
I wanted to get it but that roster was garbage and I only play it when I play my brother's copy he doesn't even play anymore.
Third Strike was fun to play and their roster was unique and fun to play with.
Brody Butler
>roster was unique and fun to play with. scvi's characters are more unique than TS's
Jeremiah Price
sick goalpost move, just admit you're asshurt lizardman or some shit isn't in. SCVI has a great roster and is one of its biggest strengths, certainly one of the better starting rosters of fighters this gen. Only one that's arguably better is GGXrd
Owen Rivera
I honestly don't know what more anyone could have wanted from this roster outside of Lizardman. All the important OGs are there.
The main problem I have with the game is the lack of stages and the downgraded CaS, made worse by the abysmal pace of DLC. The game has been out five months and they still haven't even given us the second CaS parts pack. It makes me feel retarded for getting the Deluxe on launch, but I really wanted to support the franchise.
Lincoln Green
>still haven't even given us the second CaS parts pack weren't those given out with the amy patch? I don't care about CaS enough to keep up
Samuel White
No they are not. TS' characters and mechanics work far better together than SCVI's characters and mechanics. Reversal edge is anti-fun.
I don't care about Lizardman, the only character that is a dealbreaker for me was Cassandra and she isn't in but might be if this game isn't already dead.
Luke Green
>2019 >still crying about RE the shitter outs himself
Lucas Reed
No, they added parts with Amy like they did with 2B but they didn't add the second dedicated armor pack yet.
Hudson King
You just sound like a bitch nigga. Stop drinking so much s o y and just have fun playing the game. Go to a local and see if you can body niggas or something, dude.
Liam Powell
I'm done with fighting games in general.
After buying Soul Calibur 6, Dead or Alive 6 and Mortal Combat 11, I'm done being a fucking peon for devs that mindlessly buy underdeveloped garbage.
Ommitting previous characters for no fucking reason is one of the single most retarded thing in video games and I don't understand why people fucking put up with this shit. Stop buying this and allow devs to get away this greedy shit. A new game's roster should have ALL fucking existing characters from previous games and enhance the new game with brand new characters.
Soul Calibur 6 having literally under 25% of the entire Soul Calibur franchise's roster was the straw that broke the camels back for me. You would think they would actually have all the characters from Soul caliburs 1-5 with brand new characters in Soul calibur 6, but nope it's a fucking cherry picked roster for NO FUCKING REASON (other than to sell fan favorite characters as fucking DLC)
Stop fucking supporting this shit. Stop buying this shit. It's fucking retarded, and all future Fighting games can fuck right off. I'
Colton Martin
Play a complete fighter then, man. There are plenty of other fighting games with a decent player base out there. Nigga, if people still play melty blood, that says some shit, bitch.
>setsuka >hilda >literally who guess you're just talking out of your ass and never played a sc game in your life
Joseph Lopez
Fighting games are one of the most cut and pasted genres because devs know they can get away with it. Why bother making a full and complete roster when they know they can just give you 1/4th of that roster at launch and sell the other 3/4th as individual DLC. Don't blame devs, blame retards for supporting this shitty business model.
Asher Baker
those are far bigger literally who's than anyone from 1/2, and hilde is the least literally who post 2
James Lee
The game is underdeveloped and underbudgeted, but it's also good and fun so I don't feel sorry for buying it, just slightly scammed.
Looking at MK11 or DOA6, it could be worse.
Benjamin Hill
It hasn't stopped being a bad mechanics.
Can't have fun when Cassandra isn't in and the customization is weak.
I agree with you mate.
Jayden Adams
They weren't willing to invest in new models. People aren't going to buy a fighter just because you improved the mechanics. As a diehard Soulfag I'm glad 1 / 2 exist and the series can rest in peace.
Michael Reed
Especially bad since Geralt really wants to spam RE to get meter for signs
Brandon Bennett
How can someone even defend Lizardman not being in when he appears in singleplayer? I swear to god if he's the last DLC "character" lmao
Aaron Bailey
you have no one to blame but yourself >sc6 we had a free beta and while it was fun-ish you could tell the netcode was garbage and CE/RE were godawful mechanics. >doa6 we also had a beta for that, so you have nothing to complain about here. >mk11 lol @ ever buying a NRS game, especially on pc
meanwhile there are legit good fighters out there like tekken, ggxrd, unist and to a lesser extent sfv
Levi Russell
>Hilda I wanted her in too, but if you properly cared you'd be able to spell her name right, also this is the first time I@ve ever heard anybody have anything positive to say about Algol
Matthew Ward
>still complaining about RE
man its supposed to push people AWAY from mashing but I guess people just prefer that then actually thinking about the opponent's next move
Austin Stewart
tekken is boring shit and everything you said about SCVI is worse in SFV except replace RE with crush counters. GG is king and unist is good too
Nathaniel Rogers
Why do you guys who don’t play the game still shitpost it months later? Cause it’s clear you only played like 2 hours of the actual game.
Aaron Parker
Play Blazblue
Evan Robinson
I feel like you never played tekken tbqh. It's by far my favorite game this gen, and I used to hate tekken until I finally bought 7. as for sfv, I hate it with passion as well but I felt like it was wrong to left it out, hence why I said to a lesser extent it just feels weird you like sc but not tekken, if you didnt like sc I'd just assume you're a guy that prefer 2d fighters
Jonathan Adams
I liked Algol and he deserves to be in the game. Hilde is fine, I'll properly care this time.
All a fight shouldn't just be RE spammiing.
Because I would like to actually like the game but it doesn't want to put in any effort.
Henry Gonzalez
>All a fight shouldn't just be RE spammiing. if either player had a BRAIN that would be impossible because of how weak the move actually is
Asher Bailey
>Mashing
Nigga when im absolutely steamrolling with a smart mixture of mids, lows, and overheads, i forget it's there and some fag can just invalidate my entire offense with a button. And then i get to ppay rocl paper scissors. And then Astaroth gets a lucky overhead. And then i've died because he threw me into the himalayas
Tyler Collins
[Lobby Setup]
Allow Create-A-Soul characters [__Yes] [X No]
Allow Reversal Edges [__Yes] [X No]
[Confirm]
There I fixed your game, NamcoBandai.
Charles Rivera
To be fair characters still have to be reworked, rebalanced, remade etc. its not just a matter of copy-pasting a folder But Soul Calibur 6's roster is still inexcusable. 2 of the 6 (?) DLC characters are already confirmed just ports of old ones
Brayden Miller
>All a fight shouldn't just be RE spammiing. Anyone spamming RE's brainlessly beyond G rank is gonna get shitmixed. Unless they're Talim, then they can do it freely because they can cancel out of it and escape all punishment.
John Hughes
>25% whut? are you including the guys from 3's story? there's not even twice that number of characters in SC
Kayden Bailey
>not using guard break moves at all
its like you dont know how to even play
Ian Nguyen
>2 of the 6 (?) DLC characters are already confirmed just ports of old ones
but Amy has an entirely new mechanic and she's never been more different from Raphael.
Ayden Perez
Not him but if they weren't in Soul Blade/Edge, Soulcalibur or Soulcalibur 2 then they're a literally-who by fucking default
Henry Parker
>Using A against Astaroth when his back is against the cliffside Idiot. Blame yourself.
Fair enough, but they still had a foundation to work with, at least they put some extra effort into it but that still means they didn'T make an entirely new character for paid DLC
Austin Garcia
i dont want to believe it, but its just sad truth. Going straight downhill since 4. Rip Soulcalibur man unironically.
Most of them are worse than most normals in their own, i have no reason to randomly throw them out just in case
Owen Diaz
tekken has good intrinsic mechanics but I dislike games that don't have a heavy focus on character differences, that's why I like GG/SC the most
Parker Jackson
Is it bad that they'd bring back characters? I'd prefer returning favorites over crappy new ones like Groh.
Grayson Morales
>Thinks RE is worse than parrying for shitting on the roster Now you sound like you definitely never played Third Strike.
Samuel Scott
I was talking more from my perspective. Ive cheesed a lot of people with that nigger
Justin Perry
>All a fight shouldn't just be RE spammiing. you are a low level scrub monkey who probably can't do anything beyond training mode combos, your opinion isn't worth shit and you should stop talking
Jaxson Carter
yup I can respect that. its a shame though, I hope you get over that feeling some day, some characters are still really unique mechanic wise like having stances, and one of them even has double chainsaws on her arms.
Carson Hughes
>randomly throw them out just in case
Getting ultra rewarded for landing them while opponents are REing is a start
not to mention EVEN MORE guard damage and + frames to have continued advantage
do you even play fighting games? its not like people are gonna call out Guard break moves because of how good they are now on advanced defensive options
Alexander Sanders
>Huge stun on block >Big guard damage >Blowing the fuck out of retards spamming RE All good reasons.
Me too, and almost no one with a brain uses A against astaroth for that very reason, unless they're playing proper mindgames or aren't thinking at all.
Michael Baker
It being weak doesn't matter, what matters is that people spam the shit over and over again.
Just a tiny slip up and I'm back into RE hell. I am not a good SC player, never was but I had fun in the prior games, this not so much.
Gabriel Rodriguez
just get rid of clownsuits in ranked, or have an option to play without them and I'm good
Nolan Reed
Yeah at least a clear amount of work is being put into the dlc characters considering they actually have more time to work on them and justify them having a price tag. Cassandra should be quite different too. If it was lizardman from the story mode with only the rest of his existing moveset and nothing else as dlc, then it would be 100% clear they’re just trying to put in the most minimum of effort. Which I don’t get that impression. I get the impression of no budget and no time given to the dev team because of bamco hating sc. I remember Okubo having to fight to get the game delayed to October and not release it sooner.
Look, I don't like RE either, but I promise you that if someone's spamming RE as much as you say, you have a lot of options to fuck them up for doing so very, very hard. That's not to say it can't be annoying, but spamming it won't save someone who was already losing if their opponent has a brain.
Michael Reed
>Unless they're Talim, then they can do it freely because they can cancel out of it and escape all punishment. Hey now, buddy. It took a lot of practice to be able to pull off my bullshit and learn those stupid stances. Talim gets range-cucked by everyone, including Maxi and Voldo.
Jaxson Hughes
I was hard on it but I didn't want it to be such a massive blunder.
No, I played TS, I rather have parrying which takes skill and timing to pull off with a solid roster than RE spamming and a tiny roster with boring characters.
Hudson Martinez
>opponent has a brain. clearly THAT guy doesn't have a brain if he cant deal with RE
Brody Gray
That's because once she's in your face she can just keep spinning her stupid tonfas until you drop your guard, or it breaks, and you die. God I hate the little snot sometimes but nothing pisses me off as much as her ability to cancel RE.
Ryan Moore
I just can’t keep up with the skill of fighting games. There was a time in 6 where I was beating streamers and tournament players and they’d say stuff like ‘dude do you go to tournaments you’re really good’ but I stopped playing for a few weeks to focus on work and suddenly I’m way behind. It’s like a second job to be actually good at a fighting game, and I already got my PhD. I ain’t gonna spend time memorizing frame differences or learning all the moves of characters I have no interest in playing. Very ironically, it wouldn’t be an issue if there was a larger amount of people playing them, as you’d have a wider disparity of skill levels and could comfortably fall into your niche, but for whatever combination of reasons, the only people who stick around are the NYC/LA guys who have done nothing but play fighting games for decades and spend all their time just practicing in training mode. Cool for them, really, but that ain’t my thing.
Jayden Nguyen
I shouldn't have to spend most of a fight trying to avoid REs, I shouldn't.
James Cox
I agree, but if you are doing that, then you have every opportunity to fuck them up for making you do that.
As I said, I am not the best SC player. I will probably only be able to stop it 45% of the time.
When, where the fuck is she? All my complaining would be done if she was released. Just give me a trailer for her, just give me a date.
I do.
Brayden Hernandez
they never want to admit that they suck
its why they always will
Ryder Martinez
The models were literally remade in a new engine.
Y'all like lying about everything, huh
Anthony Young
precisely. What a disappointment
John Mitchell
>I will probably only be able to stop it 45% of the time. Don't worry, you only need a little practice and you'll be crushing the kind of idiots who actually spam it. Learn a couple of RE-safe moves, learn to use a couple of useful guardbreaks and you'll be getting those juicy lethal hits all over.
Jacob Moore
To learn to stop RE, stop mashing. Go on the defensive. If you can't do a guard break or unlockable on reaction, then sidestep and punish the whiffed RE.
Ryder Martin
Lol okay basement king
Carson Cooper
I hate CE and RE, it breaks the flow of the game and feels cheap and unnecessary for this series. And it is a shame, because the gameplay with those things is good and fun, but there is online mode for removing so I dont care anymore.
Where? shitty dlc policies. Same reason Lizardman isnt playable, or someone like fucking Edge Master when the game retells the fucking training with Kilik
Yeah, this too.
Gavin Howard
Otsubo said during/by the end of Summer
Asher Moore
Nah, I suck. I will assure you I suck at Tekken, Soulcalibur, Guilty Gear, and Skullgirls. I am decent in Blazblue, UNIST, and Street Fighter. Cross Tag is the only one I can say that I am solidly good in.
I didn't want it to be but it doesn't want to do anything else but be a disappointment.
I'll practice when they release their next dlc character, until then I am simply not motivated.
Cameron Kelly
Season 1 will be finished this summer meaning she can't be any later than that. We have the next CAS DLC first but then likely a trailer shortly after.
>just give me a date. I would like a date with her too! I hope she likes seafood.
>I'll practice when they release their next dlc character, until then I am simply not motivated. See you around the end of summer, then!
David Gray
>then sidestep and punish the whiffed RE All I can manage to do at the minute.
They should have been in the base game but I'll take it as dlc as long as Cassandra is in.
Taking too long, the game is dying.
Cooper Kelly
>without those things >there is no online mode Fuck my shit
Joshua Williams
>I'll practice when they release their next dlc character, until then I am simply not motivated. and it STILL WONT SAVE YOUR ASS
Henry Lee
Their worst crime is not actually putting any love into it. Remember how much better Ivy looked in 2? She's barely changed from then and neither has the rest of the cast. Fighting games are dead can't even bother with multiple costumes or endings. Fuck this gay earth.
Dylan Wood
>Their worst crime is not actually putting any love into it. Love is just about he only thing they did put into it. What they needed was more money and more time.
Elijah King
No its not but one might argue thats what they should've done with the base game. Arguably something like 2B, character itself aside, takes tons more work than taking something like Amy and "porting" her over with a few added flourishes.
Bentley Rogers
Ivy could literally have not gotten more love than she did in 6, you fucking liar.
Oliver Morris
The game and my interest are dying, fast. It needs to happen now, Cassandra, please date me!
See ya then.
I don't care, I will finally have a character I care about in this game and that is half the battle.
I agree, this game is lazy and unmotivated.
Robert Thomas
>Cassandra Last character of the Season pass obviously I'm just waiting for if there's an S2 coming out before I buy it at a discounted price + S1. Game was fun from when I played the beta but I just didn't feel like getting it then since Tira rubbed me the wrong way. Mostly play fighting games locally with friends rather than online so it dying doesn't bother me outside of the fear that Bamco's going to put the series on ice again. Though with tekken, how's 7? Last one I played was 6 and the last I owned was 4.
Ian Ross
You notice that when how little the number of arenas are in the game and how short the ost is compared with something like even 1.
Jaxon Russell
That too. Low effort.
James Phillips
>No its not but one might argue thats what they should've done with the base game. Definitely, but we know they had no money to do so. Stages are especially lacking.
Joshua Rogers
"Please buy this or you killed the series" "buy our season pass" Fuck Bamco. They did the same shit with Tekken.
Benjamin Richardson
>change characters back to how they mostly looked in 1/2 with some modifications I got no issue with that since she looks perfectly fine. The issue with no alt costumes is an issue though. I liked her alts in 1 and 2. And I'd rather not have CAS costumes like 4.
Asher Gray
>Low effort. Plain false, Low budget.
Adam Perry
>1/4 of the roster at launch and 3/the as DLC Name ONE game
Easton Ross
Yeah but thats kinda why people say the game sucks. There's a limit in how charitable you can be with a dev, especially when it comes to scummy DLC practices
Christopher Young
I don't deny that, the game suffered a lot for it. But I think Team Soul itself has done the best they could, it's Bamco that's holding the reins and even then, their DLC practices are almost saintly compared to DOA6's.
Joseph Sanchez
But the game is low effort. Looks like a straight port from 5.
Easton Perez
SF5?
Anthony Carter
It does not and it isn't. Effort isn't what was lacking.
Robert Rivera
what the fuck do you expect a game on a budget?
those expensive ugly ass mocap face animations thats hot shit right now?
Isaac Rogers
and you go and compare it with the worst .
Juan Phillips
The limited roster ticked me off, all I wanted was Cassandra and it seems like the end of the summer is when I actually get what I wanted. I am not sure about tekken, hasn't played much of it so I couldn't tell you.
Jaxson Mitchell
>mocap face animations please Team soul never ever do this
Leo King
Well yeah. Looking at what's normal for the industry right now $30 for 4 characters and 2 CaS Packs doesn't seem too bad. It's too bad the CaS parts kind of sucked.
Joseph Howard
>But user please understand poor Bandai Namco! What did you expect? Not a fucking 5 port!
Evan Nguyen
Yeah fair enough, I'm just saying it in general since there's a lot of elitists in these threads who want to pretend like there's no problem with the game because "technically" it good and polished. People who don't study these games in and out and put 1000h into the multiplayer no matter what don't feel like they got much bang for their buck
Grayson Cook
You will get her. Do not dispair.
Juan Morgan
Well, it's not?
I think for all the problems it has, it ended up being a good game, mechanically it's a step up. The flaws do drag it down though, I couldn't fault anyone for bringing them up as real problems.
Gabriel Parker
>end of the summer august/september?
Ethan Murphy
It did a lot better than V. Return of the old cast with none of those terrible V cast. A much bigger single player experience. Also the dlc is a lot better than the terrible dlc we got in V that promised more to come and returning characters and never delivered.
Carter Allen
We can probably expect stuff before then.
James Rodriguez
All I can do is despair, I want her now but nothing is coming. All I can do is see everything that is at fault with this game until I see her trailer.
Jordan Myers
Wasn't SC6 literally made from scraps because they weren't sure they even wanted to make another game? They already have Tekken. Why don't you get a grip and stop bitching already. Of fucking course they're gonna nickel and dime you in 2019. This isn't the late 90's and early 2000's anymore. People have other genres to play that don't require memorization and perfect execution and boatloads of time to get good at. What did you expect honestly?
Lucky you the game is considered a successful launch so there's more DLC coming for you to bitch at and then end up buying anyway.
It pisses me off, because I love SC since 1(never played Edge) and played them until 4. Only got 5 through Namco collection but never played it, bought 6 because of the beta but then I realized the Season Pass 1 was a piece of shit with releasing 1 character every 3 months. Thank god I didnt get the season pass, really, fuck bamco.
Jack Harris
Tira alone makes the season pass worth it. Too bad she wasn't in the base game.
Oliver Thompson
I tried her in the Beta and she was alright, weird with mood changes, but alright
Cameron Garcia
She's gotten good buffs since the start, she's a good character with good CaS parts that isn't an annoying shit like 2B or Amy.
Evan Lee
>want to nickel and dime me >literally hasn't given me the character I would buy a copy of the game for plus the entire season pass
If nickel and dime tactics turned me off, I wouldn't play gatcha games. Just booted up FEH and got Legendary Hector, Celica, and Saint King Alm, shit was so cash mate. I plan on buying two copies of bloodstained just because the switch one I wasn't going to get comes out on my birthday. Just hand over Cassandra and no one has to be bitched at.
Hudson Thompson
She's coming, user. You'll get your Turkish swordmaiden soon.
Ian Flores
Oh you silly following me into the other boards! Play some others characters till then.
>If nickel and dime tactics turned me off, I wouldn't play gatcha games. christ mate
Mason Nelson
I stopped playing by 2B's release. Got annoyed how long her strings were, even if I could sidestep some of them, it was funny at first watching retards getting their backs all open, but got bored fast.
Was Mina nerfed during this time?
Brandon Thompson
I do, but i play Voldo and his quickest guard break move is in blind stance, and im rarely in that stance for longer than like 5-10 seconds at a time
Nathaniel Miller
Don't think so, but balance in general is much, much better.
Michael Kelly
doesnt have mobility and various attacks that you can get to side steppin?
Chase Nguyen
Well if you spend most of your time in Mantis Crawl don't be surprised people spam RE at you.
Cameron Brooks
>I already got my PhD
PhD in virginity maybe lol
Luke Mitchell
Probably the cutest Ivy so far, actually
Evan Morris
I see. I need to get back to the game one of these days and play around with Maxi, Raphael and Mina again.
Ryder Taylor
2B is the best guest character since SoulCal 2.
Camden Evans
>He's plays gacha games
If i could gun you down on the fucking street without anyone finding out i unrionically would go full fucking klebold on your ass
Nathan Jones
I'm not saying i generally have trouble with RE, quite the opposite actually, but there are time when i just wish it was gone, it doesnt even feel like it adds any real depth
Nah it's just a lot of good moves are in there but a lot of the moves you cam use in it and also just getting hit (even while blocking) can take you out of it
Lucas Cruz
>small roster out of a great catalogue of past and present characters 20 characters is pretty reasonable to launch a fighting game with >barely any content to do in game What fighter this gen has better singleplayer? >online is filled with cinematic assholes who spam the same cinematic feature bullshit Ohhhh, you're a scrub. I see. >take forever to release dlc to help improve shitty, tiny roster Seems to me characters are coming out at about the same speed as tekken. Takes time to make 3d fightan characters dawg, the movelists are huge
I have some complaints, but they don't take away from this being the best soulcalibur, at least for anyone who cares about gameplay. Best balance, best character variety, best moveset design, and lethal hits are the best mechanic in any fighter this gen.
It's a fuckinh excellent game.
Juan Johnson
Now now user, i hope that by "gun down" you actually mean using your water pistol and by "klebold" you mean using your own on demand supply of "water".
>choose casual match to try it >my first match is against a dude with tenths of thousands of points. >manage to win two rounds by playing fundamentally sound >the fucker rage quits >discover that the game doesn't have any penalty for RQers When the fuck will nips realize that every fucking modern fighting game should have a good netcode and punishment for RQing?
Parker Ward
*geralt
Ayden Lopez
im pretty sure it does, you lose points
Jordan Miller
>SCVI has a great roster and is one of its biggest strengths, certainly one of the better starting rosters of fighters this gen. Only one that's arguably better is GGXrd I mean, Xrd launched with 16 characters... as did sfv. Under night even less. Fighters that launch with more than 20 characters are the exception, not the rule.
Wyatt Russell
yeah but Xrd's characters have a ton of variety and one of the goals of SCVI was to give each character at least something unique to them
Carter Clark
It actually does.
Jayden Long
Not OP, but I never enjoyed specials in 3d fighting games and much less in something like Soulcalibur. RE is unnecessary and raised the gauge for the guy that uses by a lot for no reason, dont know if they fixed that yet
For me 1 is still the best, the Dreamcast version which most didnt played because they started by 2.
William Kelly
SCVI did a really good job of that, though. The cast is more unique than it's ever been. It's got more variety than any other 3D fighter, too.
Eli White
I fucking miss the SC3 story mode so much.
Elijah Murphy
yup, that's why I think the roster is good
Brayden Brooks
i dont even care what anyone says this game is honestly the most fun i've had with a game in ages. I just reached 1000 wins online and im still having a blast with it. That being said, CASSANDRA WHEN?
I was disappointed that they did Amy before Cassandra, but I've actually been having a ton of fun with her. There's so much in this game to learn and it feels like the devs are really making the DLC characters stand out from the rest of the cast. I wasn't really a fan of 2B's weird movement and design and i was pretty hesitant about Amy's rose mechanic but I've actually been having a ton of fun with it.
Ryder Roberts
this game is not getting nearly enough SFM porn being made of it.
Yeah, RE got nerfed last patch. I think the mechanic succeeds at what it's supposed to be: a defensive crutch with cool animations for new players who don't know how to deal with or haven't learned the hundreds of strings in a 3D fighter and get rekt by mashers. It's a tool to shut down mindless unga bunga offense that becomes significantly less useful as your opponents become better and learn the multiple ways to blow it up hard. The only issue I have with it at this point is that the animation takes a few seconds too long to play out.
I've never seen why supers and meter should be fine in 2D fighters but unacceptable in 3D ones. Meter management is interesting, and having some moves locked behind meter allows the devs to create uniquely powerful options that would otherwise be imbalanced. My beef with sc6's supers is that, again, the animations take a bit too long.
I'd find the game basically perfect if they could shorten RE and CE, but as it is, I consider it a relatively minor annoyance, like Danger Time in GGXrd.
Liam Lee
She's the best guest including SC2.
Jayden Phillips
It's also better than MK11 And SFV has like hundreds of dollars of cosmetics And Tekken 7's first SP was even worse And under-night doesn't do DLC but french bread will undoubtedly make a new version, which will take half a year to come west on PS4, then another half a year for PC, when you'll finally be able to pay $40 to get access to the latest balance patch.
A want a female newcomer though. A brand new SC-original waifu
Nolan Harris
After cassie!
Ryder Davis
You're basically saying fighting game rosters should grow indefinitely. This is idiotic. Capacity to create characters doesn't grow between entries at all.
Christopher Taylor
It’s called Salia and she’s been in the games since Soul Calibur 1. Even in sc6 for libra of souls. She’s basically the Casca to siegfried’s guts
Luis Bailey
For SC7 they should take all the resources wasted on dumb singleplayer shit and invest them in industry-leading breast physics.
Jaxon Bennett
>Day-1 DLC Soulcalibur is my favorite fighting franchise and I want to support it, but Namco can go fuck themselves.
Hudson Robinson
Mite b neat
All the weapons I want are asian though. I want a 3- section staff or a chain and sickle.
Charles Miller
Then don't buy the DLC. I think the amount of content in sc6 is pretty fair compared to other fitans this gen, with smush being the only huge exception.
Samuel Morgan
>compared to other fitans this gen Then why would I bother with ANY fitans this gen?
Matthew James
Bcuz u liek da fitan
Elijah Ramirez
Does SC6 make a good singleplayer game?
I hate NA online its too toxic
Jacob Foster
My only problems with SC6 are supers, reversal edge, and combo length.
Jose James
Yes it has a pretty long single player both libra and soul cronicle. >toxic You should make a lobby with friends. If rank gets to you.
Juan Anderson
>RE got nerfed Good.
I dont mind meters because of what you said. I have problems with specials because of the long animations, some in 2d fighters take too long. In SC i was always used to fast paced weapon gameplay, which was one of the things I enjoyed the most, and for me it breaks a bit of the fun in 6. It's like VF6 ever being made and suddenly adding specials on that series, it would feel off. Not every fighter needs specials, SC is one of those cases, DoA is another one that doesnt need them
Ethan Morales
Fairly good. Not on the same level as SC3, but better than 4 or 5. I'd put it around the same level as SC2. Each character has a VN-esque story mode with 5 or 6 fights, which can be good for trying out different chars (very easy though). The main SP mode has you make an OC donut steel who goes on an adventure where you interact with the existing cast which I find fairly enjoyable. I think it takes maybe 8-13 hours? Haven't actually finished it myself. It's not high-budget cutscenes like the DBFZ or SFV story modes, but unlike those it can actually be fun to play.
Jonathan Wilson
Soulcalibur really needs a 3d action game type mode for single player. Like those musou games
Gabriel Barnes
They're not as short as SC2, but combos are still pretty modest. It'll probably still have the shortest combos of anything until samurai showdown comes out.
Charles Sanders
Oh god please no
They tried that on the wii
Robert Hill
Unless you are Zasalamel telling the story of his life for free points
And user, if you play 6 dont make your OC first. Play the story mode and make an OC there, because the ones you make from the main menu cant be used in the story mode for some retarded reason
Juan James
I don't really care if you can play around RE or what sort of depth it adds to the game, it's not fucking fun.
Oliver Roberts
I'm a very mediocre player, and I love when my opponents spam RE. Just sidestep when you see the red. If you're already committed to an attack, make sure you know your character's best RE follow ups.
Nolan Wood
What does mashing have to do with it, RE is literally just a >lets just kill all momentum the match has at the moment button whether it hits or not. Hell even the people who defend it never actually say it's good, at best just saying "it's not the worst thing ever" or something to that effect. If the devs somehow patched it out completely no one would complain.
Dominic Kelly
It already has that. Soulcalibur Legends
Jace Russell
Issue is budget. I love this game, got the platinum, did pretty much all I can do with it. But there were some clear budget cuts. >stages The few we got were completely uninspired, and simple. I did not like SC5 as much, but it had some very creative stages with cool flourishes, like transformations, variations, and dodo birds. SC6 doesn't have a single memorable stage OTHER than 2B's, which looks great. >music The soundtrack is pretty good for the series, but very few tracks. >costumes No 2P costumes is a joke. >cutscenes I know previous entries have done the still image + text combo as well, but this was almost VN level. Could have used some more animation. >graphics This is the best looking SC, but not for its time. Previous SCs, with the exception of 5, had really high budget graphics. SC6 really looks like a halfway point between PS3 and PS4 and resembles an upscaled SC5.
Still, I missed SC and was happy with the game. Just a little sad to see the budget cuts, but glad to have it back nonetheless.
Nicholas Miller
Create a Soul is the single worst addition yo the series and not a day will go by that I will not curse its inclusion or overwhelmingly positive reception.
How so? Gets more normies to buy, which is good for the budget.
Tyler Sullivan
RE is an anti-mashing mechanic, that's what it's made for. It's primarily intended for new players who can't deal with spammers. I think the animations take too long, but it has a few good points. 1) It incentivizes sidestepping and guard break attacks 2) The animations look cool 3) It creates a new way to think about moves, much like being safe, unsafe, plus, guard breakers, etc. Namely, whether or not they're safe against reversal edge. I find it slightly annoying over all, but not nearly enough to overshadow all the other good stuff the game has going for it.
Austin Smith
At the detriment of the series itself. Growing up I always felt enthralled by the amount of work put into SC's art direction and in my opinion CaS takes away from that. I actually really like the characters and designs in this series and CaS clashes badly with this. Not only that it seems as though less care is put into the base characters which leads to the cast in 6 not having alternate outfits, likely with the expectation of people just customizing them anyway. And most of all I frankly don't care to see the tacky, unfunny, and uncreative shit that people make through CaS. I don't like customization in Tekken either. I don't care about whether or not normies like the same things that I do, and evidently neither does Bamco given their handling of the series.
>no 2P costumes That doesnt bother me since you can customize them. You can even make their faces look old if you want
David Rodriguez
I don't think less care was put into the base character designs. Many of the SC6 roster look the best they've ever looked, in my opinion. Though a possible critique is the designs were played a little too safely as the interpretations were pretty similar to earlier entries. I do agree that CAS allows your opponents to make some tacky ish, but most of the outright retarded designs probably don't belong to players who go online all that often.
I care about normies only to the exten that game development is ridiculously expensive these days and series get canned if they don't sell well enough. CAS memes generated a lot of buzz for SC6. It also helps the series stand out to potential buyers against the many, many competitors.
Isaac Evans
Oh the character designs in 6 are amazing, I should rephrase: the lack of alternate outfits I think is partly due to the CaS emphasis, because in past games the alternate designs for many characters looked really good and it's nice to have options, especially in tournament settings or locals where you are not at liberty to constantly change stuff.
Levi Foster
Is just boring and can be annoying there's no doubt that Reversal Edge plays a major role on the death of the player base
Eli Martin
>CaS emphasis
not when its actually on a slightly lower level then SCV's parts
that Alt costume budget went to story modes instead my man
Christian Gutierrez
>boring and annoying >all pro players pretty much laugh at it now
Christopher Rogers
Yeah I definitely miss P2 costumes. Especially as SC wasn't afraid to experiment with them.
Brandon Lee
I'm fine with that. I haven't gotten around to story modes outside of Astaroth's and Seong Mina's but I'd much rather their efforts go to these kinds of things (along with gameplay obviously) than CaS.
Yeah we used to get some great ones. I mean damn they could have at least given us more than one recolor in 5.
Thomas Brooks
Namco are lazy. Tekken and SC have remained the same since the 2000s and don't even have the graphics and content to get away with it anymore. Soul Calibur VI deserved to fail like the lukewarm piece of shit it is. Ever Samurai Shodown looks more fun.
>which leads to the cast in 6 not having alternate outfits That's just the horrible budget issues the game has. Same reason why there's only a handful of stages and no endless / moving stages like in all previous games. The base roster looks superb this time around, most of the costumes are on point. I do miss the alts though, they were always a lot of fun and usually great designs.
Elijah Morgan
Why? He's an ugly weird guest character that looks like a shitty mook, barely fits with the rest of the cast.
Robert Clark
>ugly weird shitty mook
because thats who he is
Jordan Rodriguez
he fit better then yoda
Dylan Lewis
So he's slightly less infectious shit, but he's still shit.
Lincoln Flores
>customization worse than prior entries in the series
This is the real killer.
Alexander Jackson
>Soul Calibur VI deserved to fail But it was a success >like the lukewarm piece of shit it is But it's the best calibur game
Henry Cruz
I wish CaS was better, but what hurts more is the small amount of stages.
I wish instead of adding those crappy CaS Pack parts they'd have added alt costumes for the roster, costumes which in turn could be usable in CaS. They'd look way better than the halfassed ugly modern parts we've gotten.
Xavier Price
People would complain about cas less if the parts where good
anyone who complains about "balance" of Cas sizes complain about very marginal changes
Jose Russell
Yeah, the changes are really minor. The thing about dropping combos is silly, since the same thing happens with small roster characters like Talim.
My biggest complaint about CaS sizes is astaroth CaS cannot be his actual size, so there's some of his moves that just don't work for them. Still fun to use though.
Nolan Ross
he's epic
Brody Evans
Worst Soul Calibur game. Boring. No content. Milquetoast visual fidelity. Generic super moves. Selling less than its predessor = failure.
It's ok if it's a success to you, personally, though Timmy. You show them. You enjoy your POS game and don't let nobody tell you different! lmao.
Parker White
did this game molest you? you seem to be really upset over a game that isn't even popular that's enjoyed by the fanbase
Brayden Barnes
Nah. It has the best gameplay in the series, thanks to its superior balance, dank lethal hits, and highly unique characters with interesting individual gimmicks. It stacks up fine content-wise vs any previous game except 3, and that game was a fucking broken mess. It also outsold SCV so you're just shitflinging.
It's ok if you're a scrub, fighting games aren't for everyone.
Tyler Rodriguez
not the same user but my only wish for 6 was if it had as many moves as 4 did. otherwise it's a pretty great feeling souls game.
Michael Walker
But 6 has more USEFUL moves than 4 did. The problem with old SC games with bloated movelists was that it was very difficult to balance so many, so some ended up being really good and many were unusable trash. SC2 was particularly bad with this. SC6 might be the first game (5 was also ok) where there's relative balance within each character's movelist.
Aiden Morgan
Im pretty sure that what was SC was for
to make some moves even stronger
mind you a lot of those "moves" in SC4 where completely useless
David Sullivan
Soul Charge was a good addition. CE was a weak one and the animations are way too long. RE was a bad addition but they can't just remove it or they'll shift the game's offense/defense balance even more towards unga.
Mason Roberts
i just enjoyed having a larger arsenal so i could rely on other moves in certain circumstances. i cant play yoshi as good as i could in 4 back when it was still fresh.
Wyatt Russell
Re’s concept isn’t a bad one on beginner anti mash tool, but I’m sure there could be a better way of implementing something like that.
Aaron Rogers
I mean people are underestmating the new nerfed guard crush cost to RE
