For what it's worth my max chain tends to be 6-7 since I can't figure out reliable transitions or GTR yet.

I'm learning GTR and while I can do it successfully sometimes, I'm really slow and inconsistent at it so anyone who can quickly make 3-4 chains or use stairs pattern at all will probably fuck me over easily.

Usually I go for GTR, but if I don't see it very well in the first 3-4 pieces I'll just set up some stairs and see where it goes. Half my problem really is just speed and then if I get some trash blocking things up, my brain kind of shuts off.

In endless I can set up 6-9 chains fairly easily, before I have issues with accidentally popping triggers. But obviously playing with people is a different beast.

There's a filter for connection strength. It helped a little, but the game I had was still a little chuggy.

the trick is to build part of the trigger point in a very tall sandwitch. That way when garbage goes your way you can still pop at least a 3-4 chain.

The characters counting are the game's doing, and the numbers in the play area are due to a bot that shows how long a chain will be.

I assume it's because characters count their chains in Puyo Quest, and they had completely recycled (Japanese) voice clips for Puyo eSports. So for the sake of the Quest OCs, everyone now counts their chains instead of the usual grunts and quips.

Also probably why there are no longer victory/defeat poses, because Puyo Quest doesn't have those.

It feels different from other franchises because the women have always been sexualized in Mortal Kombat, and the guys are still sexualized in the same way they've always been.

HaraHara is meant for intermediate players. It's expected that you can at least do 5 chains consistently. Otherwise yeah, you just brute force it until you win.

Your best bet is to always attack second so you can get into fever first. Getting fever 2nd is usually preferably at higher levels of play, but not here.

Let me be more clear. 5 chain is just the lower limit to be able to complete the game within a reasonable time frame. Realistically, if you want to beat it without any continues you'd need to be able to 8 chain consistently since Hohow, Accord, and Popoi sometimes pull out 7-8 chains.
