For example, Longsword is 5 points, and kite+rapier is 5 points as well.

I know you're taking the piss but the weapons themselves are all pretty well balanced. Rapier and shortspear probably don't even need a nerf, it's just the combination with shield that makes them unbearable for the most part.
The issue with the shields is that they completely shit all over the way combat is designed and allow single people to tank 3-5 people wailing on them at once because the stamina drain values are most likely bugged and the hitbox covers the entire front of the character. Also the fact that you can (at least from what I've seen) instantly hold guard after attacking to make your fast pokes not only speedy, but completely safe.

Mordhau is fun as fuck.

It doesn't disarm the shield but rather disables the ability to use it until the bar is fully full. Here's the concept:
>Stamina bar, Health bar, Shield bar (Exclusive to equipped shields) - arm fatigue
>Stamina and health work exactly normal - hits on shield depletes stamina bar, not shield bar

>Having shield held up slowly depletes the shield bar.
>When the shield isn't held up, the shield bar slowly fills back up
>Player can bring up shield any time while energy is in the shield bar
>If the shield bar fully depletes, the player has to wait for the shield bar to fully replenish before can start using the shield again

There you go. Shield remains functionality without being rendered useless through quick disarms or being able to be abused to just literally waltz up and turtle everything without getting punished and being left vulnerable

Honestly too unintuitive. The stamina bar should still be the limiter on shield usage and another arbitrary meter feels like it's just tacked on for balance purposes.
I would simply reduce turn rate when shield is up (similar to how turn rate is reduced while dragging) so you can't just turn to face people hitting you. And MAYBE a tweak on being able to put up and down the shield so fast.

It's not "the combination" at all, because shield and rapier and short spear are each individually annoying and each individually annoy players. You're misattributing the source of the problem.
Shields don't really need a nerf at all, they need a rework. Because they're garbage at 1v1s and are actually guaranteed to lose stamina first in a trade of p1 parry, p1 swing, p2 block, p2 swing, against any weapon that isn't dagger.
Only in group fights do they become an issue which good players can't deal with easily. Outside that, they are actually fucking terrible.

The greeks used blades purposefully designed for the over head swing against the romans and it worked extremely effectively, and roman shields are far larger than that of anything in mordhau, overwise make the shield be held higher as to much greater obstruct view of your opponent as I think thats the main issue,
Shield users get the best of both worlds at the moment, they get 'full' protection while maintaining perfectly good view of who theyre fighting in front of them.

Shields would not be anywhere near as effective ingame if this were close to true. Shields defend against attacks from 60-90 degrees frontal at the BARE minimum. No one has proven otherwise

Shield is already shit as it stands in 1v1s since it's guaranteed to lose a stamina battle against anything other than Dagger, and you can waterfall around it. Nerf it based on 1vXs, and then it'll just be shit in both situations, rather than good at one and shit in the other.

A rework to make it more fun to play with while still being a shield, if that's at all possible, would be good, but calling for any sort of nerfs at this point in time with the amount of experience the playerbase has is stupid.

They can even adjust further as they see what kind of swing you morph it to. You have to almost be out of their vision cone AND be swinging behind the shield to actually reliably hit them.

I don't see any contradiction between what I said in my last post and that post. A horizontal swing while you're sitting in front of a shield user will simply not work unless you're moving forwards and end up behind the shield the moment your swing connects. On top of that, the shield user looking at your weapon will cancel whatever you do regardless of where you are.
Talking about reliable hits isn't goalpost moving since we want to settle when shield users can actually be hit, and from where. The assumption is that the shield is up, but the angle of the other player is the variable in question.
