So Mike, what did you think about Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony?

>wellll, I didn't hate it
>Well Jay, never have I been more embarrassed to be a human being with functioning eyes and ears than I was when I was playing this game.
>the characters were all systematically killed in grueling ways, which I liked
It subverted my expectations.
It's too bad no one produces game review content with this level. All we got is manchildren and le epic funny XD reviewers.
my favorite Mike quote was from the Man of Steel review when he said the movie made him want to cover his ears and close his eyes.
I just found out that Mike is apparently really into the paranormal. I think that's pretty cool. Too bad his friends give him shit for it because they apparently hate fun.
>Too bad his friends give him shit for it because they apparently hate fun
It's not like they bully him for it, they just have a bit of fun on his expense, nothing malicious there desu.
But yeah, Mike's ghost autism is pretty cool.

Well Jay, it reminded me of the Star Trek The Next Generation episode 'Killing Harmony.'
To be fair the format doesn't really work for video games because the media is too different. Then again, I really used to enjoy Tommy Tallarico and Victor Lucas' review discussions on Electric Playground.
>To be fair the format doesn't really work for video games because the media is too different
It's just two people talking about a movie. Maybe you're talking about the fact that games can last longer?
Yeah, there's a lot more to discuss and most Half in the Bag episodes are already 40 minutes or more while primarily focusing on story.
Well, we had RLM's Pre-Rec, which was just two people talking, and it didn't really take off. I guess it's not the format, but the hosts themselves that is the problem. If only Mike and Jay were gamers so that they could chill and talk about Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony, that would be a great show though we'd get even less videos from them then since they would be spread out so thin.
That was actually their second attempt at a game reviewing thingy. Back in 2012 they had Game Station 2.0, with the same production value of Half in the Bag. It just didn't pull the numbers.
>Game Station 2.0
I completely forgot about that, damn. They even had a little set and everything, that's a shame.
Also dammit Rich, you looked so much healthier back then.
Pre-rec would have only worked if they exclusively kept reviewing movie games like The Order or Cage's games.
So did Mike.
It's easier to fuck around and talk shit about something that lasts 2-3 hours than a game that can last dozens of hours. Imagine trying to have a conversation about Mount and Blade without constantly going off-topic to some other mechanic or set piece. There's an inherent lack of structure to anything but the shittiest narrative-heavy games.
Hell, even something as focused as most Telltale games would ultimately just be a disagreement over what choice you made in the story. I feel like it's a lot more difficult to stay focused on anything. Any audience member listening in would probably feel bored, just like with Pre Rec.
>Its a lot like that episode of Star Trek the next generation...
Honestly, what kind of video game would Mike enjoy that has Star Trek or ghosts (or both) that's both easy to get into but is constantly replayable? I feel like Mike's still stuck with the idea of arcade machines and crappy 8-bit console ports.
i've only played danganronpa 1 and 2, I heard that in order to understand V3 you have to have watched the anime, played ultra despair girls and whatever... is this true or is this just danganronpafaggotry?
didn't rich evans and aids moby have a show that was basically this but vidya?
No, but it spoils everything
I want to like Danganronpa v3, which if we go into spoilers is basically a pisstake on how unoriginal and deriative sequels are.
But one real beef on it is how they prop one guy up as the hero as sort of a deliberate mockery of the passive heroes the fanbase wants, through the act of killing a certain character who is most definitely NOT status quo as far as heroes of the series goes
Which is why this game frustrates me so mich. V3 is in this weird state of breaking and rejecting its own conventions, but actually totally not.
So I guess what I'll say is that if you really liked Boyhood, or squash beetles with a hammer in your spare time, play Danganronpa V3.
Otherwise you'll be disappointed or literally construct a better story in yoir mind from the hundreds of plot elements and red herrings left deliberately out
what do you mean it spoils everything? it's the third game right, so what does it 'spoil' outside of the first two games?
He should've played 2009 ghostbusters game, it's basically part 3 of the movies anyway.
I think you can jump into V3 right away. UDG is completely irrelevant, and the anime just serves to tie up the Hope's Peak storyline.
V3 is that one guy in the bar who says racist offensive things, get socked in the face, and then pats himself on the back for "starting a conversation."
Easy there Mike, speak any louder and the fans will call you a brainlet
Well, Jay, this entire game is ripped off of an episode of Star Trek.
They didn't do reviews, they did let's plays and streams.
It didn't work because if there's no Mike to keep him grounded, Rich turns into an elitist fuck with horrifyingly bad opinions. He would also regularly shit on the chat whenever it criticized how bad they were at the games they were playing. Needless to say it got shut down because it was only attracting like 100 viewers tops.
Their botw review was tight. Plus they got me into FTL
It didn't make him want to do that. It actually DID make him do that. The climax of the film (which lasts for the entire second half of the movie) was so relentless, that he at one point had to close his eyes and cover his ears just to regain composure.
I see yours and I raise you mine.
Basically it wants to show how sequels can be uninspired derivative shit by being uninspired derivative shit
I saw a few of their streams (especially their notoriously horrible Vampire Bloodlines stream) and the problem is that they're two normal grognards. I love a lot of the games they hate but I can easily see myself eventually slipping and acting like a cunt when I have to deal with random strangers every day shitposting in chat. It's easy for me to look back in hindsight and say "it was a bad idea from the start" but it really was. PreRec wasn't an idea that really had legs.
Either you do informative video game reviews that go into the history of development and why a certain game was so influential OR you have to do a character that plays up a bunch of jokes without going into a bunch of cringe-worthy skits. Old school Spoony knew how to ride that line which is why a lot of people are still (overly) nostalgic for that type of video content.
>I think it SUCKED!
>really? I thought it was okay
>well I didn't HATE it
Jay always came across as a pretty passive guy to me.
Clearly you've never seen his boyfriends
I seriously thought that was the Making a Murderer guy at first glance
once Jay met black fans
I wish Jay would just do a porn already. :(
Goddamn did Jay fill out after his early 20's.
That's right, Jay
> the real Mike was killed by Jessie during an unfortunate feet/face-sitting incident
> replaced with an android that does nothing but spout nonsense about Star Trek and ghosts
> no one can tell the difference
The fact that he looks so unhappy about the whole thing really sells it as being Mike.
