>Boot it up and immediately get greeted with incredibly cringeworthy writing and dialogue.

I've made a huge mistake.

t. Pillars of Eternity fag

>the first page of this book isn't good so it's a shitty book
neck yourself ADDfag

Fun gameplay with mediocre story > bad gameplay with gay fish

>unironically saying neck yourself

I can't stand the cartoony atmosphere and forced silly writing. I don't find Pillars that much better either. I guess the good times are behind us. Perhaps if they hired Sunless Sea writers.

Its literally tumbl: the game. I can't believe you didn't read any threads on Yea Forums about it

Eh yeah I felt that too, at first. But it grows on you. The magic is pretty fun.

You aren't mentally developed enough for a game like that apparently, try again in a few years

I really don't think this is the case.

It's ok user. Not all games are for everyone. And every taste. I like it though, probably because I found parts of its world interesting, as well as liking the turn-based tactical combat.

I'd love to give this a try but the fonts are too small and fuzzy when I blow them up so... fuck us low vision folks I guess.

What examples do you have of cringe worthy dialogue and writing? Or are you just spitting up buzzwords?

*boops your nose*

Divinity games always had a dumb sense of humor. Just look at Larian Studios's current logo.

Speaking of, a new game's coming.

Bought the first one yesterday to play with a friend. I picked Knight for asthetics and now I'm jealous of all his cool spells. Did I make a mistake?

poor taste OP, it's the best rpg in a long time

Is that Damian? Wonder what he'll do now considering the Black Ring fucked him off for the God-King.

yeah but it's a tactics game, not an rpg

the further you get in the game the more of a multi class god you can become, melee characters pair pretty well with necro spells and certain earth spells. if you really regret your decisions though you can fully respec your character as much as you want once you reach the boat

yikes

>outside studio
worried about that
The concept is definitely a good call, a lot of people only played for the combat and XCOM style means they don't have to deal with awkward pre-combat jank that in the past was make or break in a lot of encounters.

You can always go for a Battlemage down the line, as that other user said. The choices and character customization are very open.

Nah just pick up Jahan in the library as your second character (lone wolf is strong but an enjoyment trap).
Use Jahan to buff the shit out of your knight then destroy everything in sight - physical damage dealers have a much higher buff potential than magic dealers so abuse the shit out of it.
(if playing Jahan you can break the game with crafting, it's horrifically overpowered at max level, up to you if you want to do that to yourself)
>first one

it's tongue in cheek because it's a tabletop kinda game environment. if you've ever played pnp dos nails the atmosphere pretty well. it doesnt take itself too seriously just like no one takes pnp campaigns seriously.

You're playing a modern tabletop-inspired fantasy RPG, the whole thing is going to be embarrassing for the whole first act as the writers introduce their deviantart-tier OCs to you as if you give two fucks about any of their characters and weren't just wishing you could make your own party the whole time. That's just how the genre works.
It is by no means unplayably bad dialogue, and it gets a lot better once the main character introductions slow down.

How the fuck is crafting any good nigga?
