What was better, 1 or 2?

Oh also, what is better, dark side or light side playthroughs?

1 had a better story but everything else was better in 2. Dark side is better in both games. I would play morally gray but there's no reason to.

2 has better everything

I love being an edgelord in those games.

For the longest time, I believed 1 was better than 2, because I played it on OG XBOX, like an idiot.
But then I got it on steam, uploaded the restored content patch, and played it basically immediately after playing through KOTOR1 and I have completely turned around on it, KOTOR1 is not a bad game, it is in fact a good game, but KOTOR2, at a gameplay level, is filled with so many little quality of life improvements, but you really feel them after immediately finishing a game of the first one.

1 had soul
2 was just a soulless cash in

This one

Class stories were good, but every expansion after Hutt Cartel was dogshit

>golden lightsabers
Explain.

>SWTOR
fuck off

Lightsabers all contain a Kyber Crystal which is a small colored crystal made out of natural materials.
They can come in a range of colors generally being red, blue, green, with rarer colors such as purple, pink, yellow and orange also existing.

Nerd.

dont ask then you fuckin drongo

No I'm asking what it signifies.

I wasn't even the one who asked, you fucking double drongo.

2. Only brainlets think 1 is better.

1 had better planets

>1 had soul
>when 1 is just a retread of the original trilogy plot wise

I would have liked 2 if there was an opportunity to hit max level and mess around/do hard content without having to cheat to do so.

in movie era canon gold is reserved for Jedi Temple guards mostly and signifies some sort of authority i suppose
In old republic era canon it is someone who has a balance of combat and scholarly pursuits rather than focusing on one more than the other.

I see.

They're equally good but at different things.
KOTOR 1 is a classic Star Wars story with all the strengths and faults that that entails.
KOTOR 2 is a deconstruction of said story, and where the first is silly and goofy the second is pretentious and preachy.

I approve of pretentious and preachy!

There's too many brainlets in this thread

>1 had a better story
How?
Aside from Revan twist there were no actually story.
Even Malak's holo was better as character in 2.

So many people seem to think that a good twist= a good story.

In reality, KOTOR1 honestly banked too heavily on it’s twist at the expense of everything else.

Well, the second was actually good.

The individual planet stories were better in 1

I like both, but the second game has a ton of gameplay improvements, and slightly randomized loot and crafting leads to better replayability. The only thing I kinda miss about 1 was the heavy weapon specialization, and that being able to choose basically 2 different classes let you have some nifty options. 2 sorta kind has that but it's on your party members instead. Peragus is way worse slogging through.

Has Obsidian ever finished a single game?

NWN2

I play them back to back so my mind sees them as one game. They're not terribly long on their own after all.

Wow, thanks for informing me

and it sucks, somehow worse than their unfinished game

Well done user, well done user.
HOWEVER!

NWN2's original campaign literally ends with "rocks fall you die"

It was an ending...

1 is for star wars fans. 2 is for pretentious psuedo-intellectuals

t. doesn't notice fundamental bugs, glitches, and flawed design gameplay/mechanics decisions and only cares about story and settings
