The porn

Autistic little kids who were complete spergs and aspies started infesting the community until they BECAME the community.

kids

successively worse updates and failed promises combined with a growing fanbase of kids who didn't know how much better it could have been

I felt sick after playing it for 10 minutes. I tried changing the FoV and trying again but I kept feeling bad. Eventually I gave up and I never got to play with other people. I got into it after watching Simon and Lewis's first night in Minecraft. It looked like a lot of fun.

Loser

My main gripe was all the features Notch promised and never delivered on. (Such as dungeons or alternative game modes). Plus the subsequent rush from Beta to 1.0 which added one of the shittiest and most tedious fucking boss fights in game history followed by an underwhelming "ending".

The mods were the only thing that kept me playing the game.

Yeah it sucked, can't win them all.

because notch is a fat fuck who barely churned out updates once the game got even mildly popular. not to mention he'd promise updates only to either partially implement them or completely fucking forget about them.

Remember people who hate the hunger update are faggots.
The game before hunger wasnt a challenge at all,the mobs werent a threat and you were able to instantly heal yourself mid battle as if you were using an instant heal pot.
The update actually made it more challenging to fight mobs

There are plenty if reasons to hate it.

Rip off of an existing freeware game.(same reason I hate angry birds)
Notch broke so many promises. Remember that everything was supposed to be "placeholder graphics"
So many people purchased in alpha they got complacent.
It very quickly became the go to kid game. There were people who were trying to use it as a creative education tool for kids which really started spreading it to them really fast.

So basically, everything comes down to the game getting too popular too quickly. The part that really hurts for most of us here is that it is our fault. Yea Forums shilled the fuck out of this game and most people here bought an alpha pass.

>Rip off of an existing freeware game.
What game?

Infiniminer

>actually letting kids ruin anything for you
imagine

well when kids overtake the community to the point that there the ones that the devs end up focusing on for features and marketing it kinda ruins the fun

It promised the universe, but it only gave them the world.

>You will never play minecraft for the first time again

The hunger and sprinting update came in the same update iirc, and sprinting made fighting monsters a joke. Specifically creepers.

What do you think about new graphics?

I feel like there was a resurgence of Minecraft discussion and interest.
What happened?

the same reason people now hate fortnite. wait another decade for the "why did people ever hate fortnite" threads

God I want to ravage Hunter's ass and tits

>Song is called wait but it used to be called where are we now?
>"wait, where are we now?"
Minecraft's soundtrack was fucking great

what does this imagine prove?

maybe the people who whine about the shitty updates finally realized that survival mode is worthless and the game should only be treated as a lego simulator

People keep citing Infiniminer but it could have been Blockland just as well. AFAIK Blockland's creator went sour from Minecraft's runaway success and stopped developing it after getting it onto Steam. Roblox overtook it.

It got an update

The updated version Bedrock Edition has had on mobile devices for months now?

all Minecraft versions got an update

Because for whatever reason it attracts pedophiles more than any other video game ever.

>followed by an underwhelming "ending"
lmao good times

I hated it because it basically proved that multiplayer is dead. At first impression, this block builder game seemed like a fun opportunity to relax and make cool, unique structures in collaborative projects.
Then the adventure update came and turned the main gamemode into a barebones rpg grindfest, and with this came the pvp fags who were too cool to just enjoy building with legos and wanted to have 'difficulty' and 'challenge' in a lego game.
Servers became mostly survival mode and all of its variants: the pvp minigames, the periodically wiped rust-lite servers, the non-wiped survival wastelands.
These other modes basically became synonymous with the game like the 'hunger games' minigame servers, and you couldn't really talk about the game anymore without being associated with these players whose goals and views regarding the game were so far removed from your own.
Sure, there were still small communities still interested in creative mode, but the interest just got overwhelmed and snuffed out by the increasingly vocal anarchy survival community.
Now I couldn't tell you where to find a single creative only server that doesn't have some minigames home server portal or a survival server main, let alone one with an active playerbase. The charm is gone, and now all that's left for me is singleplayer.
Survival stole the moment from creative, and we can never get that time in the spotlight back.

>torches go out
Fuck that, imagine having to relight hundreds of torches every now and then.

multiplayer was always dead cuz people will always go for the "meta" play in games, even fucking minecraft (find diamonds asap, kill everyone possible, take their stuff, make shitty houses just to make them as cheap and as quick as possible etc.). the charm you want to find besides multiplayer is playing through LAN or finding some private servers (private means a server that doesnt advertise itself and its only existence is for specific group of people (like Yea Forums servers are only dedicated for people form Yea Forums). this way you can be able to cooperate with others in terms of exploring and building. Sure, you can play "meta" in a way, but its not the core goal in your play and any others' play (hopefully), so you can divert that attention to something more satisfying.

It had potential, but then they broke the world generation and put in hunger.
