Bought this game on a friend's rec but never played. What should I be expecting?

I didn't care for the final boss.

a damn good time and 30-50 hours depending on how much side shit you do (and there's a fuckload of side shit)

I had no idea the legendary fighting styles existed until I had already beaten the game

My fault though

Shibasawa was an odd choice and felt anti-climactic, especially when his backstory is dropped on you at the last second before the fight.

The fight itself is a 20/10 though

Kiryu's business management minigame is boring as fuck when compared to Majima's Cabaret Club minigame.

Finally got around to buying it last night for like 20 bucks on psn. Been meaning to get into this series for ages and I've been told it's a good starting point. Just got to chapter 3 now and I'm having a blast so far.

I'm gonna leave before spoilers drop, but before I do I take it I should go onto Kiwami 1 and 2 after this right?

yes.

Of course

Cool, just making sure. Thanks guys

I love you user

can't believe I only started to appreciate the cabaret club minigame in kiwami 2, as soon as I finished that game I went straight back to 0 so I could do the cabaret there
wish every game had a minigame like that desu

Need to manually enable classic styles from menus, instead of pressing it on d-pad.
Also Dragon of Dojima is pretty basic.

Bad Japanese humor. Unskippable cutscenes. Combat gets repetitive. Bubble era Japan setting is pretty half-assed. Mostly liked it, though.

Same map

>Dragon of Dojima is pretty basic.
it's better in 3, 4, and 5 since it has all of the komaki moves which make it a lot more versatile.

It's a PS2 remaster

>need to learn shogi and mahjong to 100% it

Dotonbori is so boring compared to kamurocho

94% of the game is cutscenes

Majima didn't contribute all that much to the plot between Makoto getting taken by Sera and the ending. Kiryu's story took forever to get going. Pretty minor gripes, though.

Should I start the series with this or 1 on PS2?

Yeah. If you don't like it, you move on to 2.

I don't really have an issue with Osaka in general, but the layout is a bit annoying. All the restaurants are crammed into the top row of the map, so if you want to heal up after a few fights you have to go out of your way to get some crab or whatever. In Kamurocho, there's always plenty of places to eat or restock your items on the way, no matter where you're going.

Yeah meaning I should play 1?

The pathways near the river, where you can go fishing, should be filled with shops and food stands like in real life. But what do I know about 80s Osaka looks like back then.
Absolutely. If you know nips, the best way to play it is by playing the HD version. Otherwise, play it on PS2 or emulate it. I suggest that you play Kiwami after at least experiencing the original, because Kiwami did changed many things.

Just skip the original, it's slow as fuck and emulating makes it even worse on top of the clunky combat and constant loading.

The one real problem I have with this game is the bullshit forced sympathy for trash like Kuze, Awano, etc. Just let me enjoy my revenge, that's the whole point of letting them walk all over me. They never get proper comeuppance, just le epic "i understand him now" scenes

No it's fucking not

If RGG Studio was going to make another licensed game like FOTNS again, what would you want them to make?

Crows Zero

>Find a flaw
It was released on PC.

Is Yakuza officially Sega's only good series?

should I play this series in this order?
- Yakuza 0
- Kiwami
- Kiwami 2
Then wait for the remaster of 3 etc?

The majority of the villains were wasted. Shibusawa, Luo Gui, and especially Awano needed more screen time.

Something delinquent related would be awesome but it probably wouldn't sell outside Japan... or maybe even inside Japan.

>fighting kuze 5 times

no autist

It’s not really an odd choice when you consider that he’s the opposite of Kiryu in every way, making him a mirror to Kiryu. It was also obvious that you’d fight all of the Dojima lieutenants at some point in the game as soon as you saw them. And if that wasn’t enough, he’s the one who paid Nishtani to kidnap Makoto, effectively making him the bridge between Kiryu and Majima’s stories. Just because he doesn’t have an overt rivalry with Kiryu like Kuze does, doesn’t make him an odd choice.

Acquiring a husbando whether you want one or not

Can't think of any, it's a good movie

Dragon of Dojima was in 0?

Every game that is not DMC or Bayonetta has bad combat.

If you shitpost with Yotsuba again I will find you and torture you.

Holy shit I just googled it, you get it from completing Real Estate Royale. Too bad it took for fucking ever and I accidentally got to the end of the game while I was still buying up Media King's properties.

Its the reward for beating the business side story. Majima’s is a playable version of his knife style from modern day games.

so is this one of those things you play for the atmosphere, content, and story despite the shit gameplay?

Catfights relied too heavily on RNG and make playing through them a pain without any noticeable reward. Sending out for guns and material had the same problem, but at least it didn't force you to watch a long cutscene before giving you nothing

several guns like stun or slime just completely break the combat

MOMMY

Mahjong.

I wouldn't say the gameplay is shit, it's serviceable as far as brawler style games go. It's much better than something like Arkham.
