Bald.
Oink.
Why does he always speak like he thinks he's better than everyone who has ever lived?
Because he does indeed think that
I feel like these games were popular enough and literally just reskins with new voice samples that they would have made more.
They seemed pretty popular
Foldsville.
>tripfag
Ironic.
Because he thinks he's better than anyone who has ever lived? He's a bootleg John Arbuckle with feithses for words and zoophilia. Don't read too far into it.
Check Please!
I enjoyed them. Poker's reasonably entertaining anyway and they had good bantz, and mixing characters was a hoot. Shame it went down the drain with Telltale.
"My Life's an Open Book"
>goes all in every time until gets the tf2 unlocks then never plays again.
Money well spent.
I really, really enjoyed both Poker Night games. Such a bizarre concept with a truly eclectic mix of characters. It just kind of worked for me since I'm a big fan of Sam & Max and TF2, and back in 2010 I still thought PA was okay (sucks now). The cast in the second game was pretty good too but I don't really care about Borderlands and I haven't personally seen Venture Bros but I've heard it's a good show. Both games were enjoyable though, although the novelty of playing poker against a bunch of CPUs gets old after a little while. But the first few hours of each game were quite entertaining.
Poker night was a simple concept. I will miss it. Post characters you want to see in Poker Night 3 never ever.
Thanks
Oh yeah and I really like Homestar Runner too, I forgot to say that. Also they were giving away this poster at PAX one year and I still have it on my wall.
>Look up Poker Night 2
>"Due to expiring licenses, the game was pulled from sale in September 2018"
Fuck
thats a cool poster user
this, the AI was fucking retarded
If you can crunch this under two hours and then refund it, will you keep the items?
Why he is so bald?
The thing is, the poker night games were made when Telltale had downtime between their long-form games and they wanted to do something fun and small. Once the money stopped coming in, there was no more downtime. They had to pump out game after game and work their employees to death. It's a real shame.

Am I the only one who thinks Penny Arcade's art style is about on par with Buckley?
No fucking clue user.
Game cant be bought anymores so the world may never know.
Probably a few steam keys out there though.
>The thing is, the poker night games were made when Telltale had downtime between their long-form games and they wanted to do something fun and small
That's also what lead to Puzzle Agent
Guybrush Threepwood, Mighty Pirate™
Wait what
It did have a movie character and a character from a full-fledged cartoon, not just a webtoon or a webcomic.
>We will never get another game that lets off the wall picks like Strongbad and Tycho interact with Max and the TF2 Heavy, or GLaDOS dropping the bomb that Brock Sampson from the Venture Bros is related to Ash Willians from the Evil Dead franchise, all the while Claptrap is getting rawdogged in poker by Sam.
God damn shame.
Fuck it, lets go with...The TF2 Spy, Lee Everett or Kenny, one of the TMNT, and...a filler I can't really think of. Solid Snake?
Poker Night 1 should still be up, it's 2 that got the axe I believe. Think I should still have a humble bundle code for PN1 and Puzzle Agent 1+2, assuming they still work and all now that I think about it.
Archer
Bob Belcher
Coach McGuirk
Can of Mixed Vegetables
Be fairly amusing for a couple rounds I think
Homer. Fuckin. Simpson.

I don’t understand the lore. What is B A L D supposed to mean?
Remember that time Tycho killed Mario?
>Coach McGuirk
Definitely the best suited of the lot, even if Archer would fit playing cards as part of his whole spy thing.
McGuirk is made for the kinds of conversations that happen in the Poker Night games.

TF2 Engineer
Guybrush Threepwood
Raz from Psychonauts
one of the ATHF characters, preferably Carl or Shake
A Shake/Meatwad combo like they did with Sam and Max would be great
I remember being really disappointed when it initially turned out that this crazy tf2/strong bad/sam & max crossover turned out to be a poker game, and then I actually really enjoyed it. It's such a weirdly novel concept, a crossover poker game.
RIP telltale.
*all in*
TYCHO YOU FUCK, CAN YOU JUST ONCE GO ALL IN TO MY FULLHOUSE. FUCKING PIECE OF SHIT, I WANT THAT PISTOL OF YOURS!
Max gives you the pistol.
I don't even remember what Tycho had.
his pac man watch
Oh right, he had the wristwatch.
The duck spy gadget
Ah, right. I don't even play Spy.
Poker Night 2 cast was great and better then from the first game. Change my mind.
I mean, you can buy the key on Amazon still.
Fuck you
I prefer the late 00s/early 10s style but Gabe/Mike is happier with his art now that he doesn't just immediately ape Stephen Silver anymore so I can't fault him
Claptrap
he looks so fucking weird outside the comic llmaooo
I loved him in it. Especially how GLaDOS bullied him.
Ellis or Bill from Left 4 Dead and Carl from ATHF are my most wanted.
Max Payne
Scout
Phoney Bone
Hank Hill
Peter Venkman
It had Claptrap.
I also would've liked another TF2 character in there, like Spy or Engie.
GLaDOS > Ash > Brock > Sam > Player > Pizza Boy from TWD > Claptrap
I kinda would like to see an indie rep Poker Night. Imagine the AVGN and Shovel Knight bonding over retro games while Brad is brooding to himself and Commander Video keeps nodding his head to the background music.
Oh fuck, Phoney Bone would be fucking gold.
because thats what his character is like?
Strong Bad > The entire cast of whatever
Did they make Heavy stupid in 1st game or he was canon to future comics in there already?
No, just not really fluent in english and with hints of violence like always
I've seen this thread multiple times but ever since I got a job I haven't been able to come into lol threads. What's it referencing?
did they make heavy a good player, i think in tf2 he was originally supposed to be really smart as an epic comedy twist
Weekly rotating characters, monthly special new additions to the character pool(+new lines and dialog as they come up with stuff and can get a hold of the voice actors).
Shit would've been full cash.
I thought he didn't even draw the comics any more
Poker question
What exactlt stops you from just checking all the time and never betting anything?
This. Not having Strongbad sucks, but every character except Ash is great.
he mentions a phd in russian literature in the game
At the start of each round you have to put money in the pot before you get your cards even if you fold immediately
Also if someone puts money in to raise the pot. Let’s say about 20 bucks. You have two options fold and stay out of the round, or to “call” where you put in the same amount if you have confidence that your cards would win.
Yeah but after that.
What stops you from just saying "i check" until the finak draw?
Eventually the blinds bleed you dry.
Ooooh.
So you are forced to call to stay in the game.
Gotcha.
Sorry.
Everyone keeps saying this and I don't know where it comes from. Yes they effectively have a multimedia empire now but the comic is still just the two of them. They don't even have a backlog because it only takes an hour or so to throw out three panels on some random bullshit
If no one raises, nothing.
If they do, you're out.
>cant screw over the AI in 2
fucking hell I just want the items I dont wanna play poker
Ignignokt & Err (like sam & max) combo would be kino. Other than that, maybe TF2's Spy, Smiley Bone, and some 4th filler character. 2B? Krieg maybe?
You can’t keep checking if someone puts more money in you have to fold or call it.
>we will never get this game
sam and max season 3 is telltale's best game, prove me wrong
you fucking can't, that's the point
Also, how often do the blinds get raised? Two rounds?
THIS
FUCK ME
FUCK ME THIS
Are the Poker Night games still worth playing if I don't like poker? The character interaction aspect seems so fun.
Wait wait.
What if someone already said check before the next player raises? Does he get a free ride?
P1- check
P2- raises 200$
P3 - forced to call?
P4- forced to call?
Excellent taste.
no, p1 must call
Poker is literally just throw in money hope for the best. There’s not a ton of strategy on getting good cards. You’re basically just bullshiting the people around you to get them to fold or put more money in.
An example being having a happy face and raise the pot by 100 bucks. To make your opponents think you have good cards but you don’t have one pair.
So, before the next round starts, P1 must call or leave? (Aka. Gets a extra "turn"?)
Raise triggers a new round of calls/re-raises until everyone has the same amount of money in or if they are all-in.
underrated
don't feel sorry for telltale you fucking shill
nobody should reward them for scaling up to fucking 1000 employees for a few hour long adventure games that they couldn't even write or release on time
Sure.
I don't understand how anyone could hate Poker tho.
Even if they checked before, every player is forced to call or fold when someone raises before the next turn.
>Dan from Dan Vs.

Whats the bwst way to bullshit people into folding irl?
I don't hate it, I just don't find it particularly entertaining, especially in video games since the most fun part of can't really be replicated by AI.
Master your facial expressions when you pick up your cards
Telltale were at their best with smaller stuff like this or Puzzle Agent. Fuck their management for expanding so much, we could've had constant Poker Nights and other fun experiments to this day if they hadn't hired 400 people and bought up a million expensive IPs.
FUG
Faking being unable to keep a straight face works well for me. Feels like a low tier tactic though.
Trick them to fold. Every table is different you dummy.
telltale went downhill when it decided to continually vomit overdramatic capeshit (and others) fanfic.
Sam & Max built them, then they threw it all to the crapper.
Not folding but I know how to cry on command. Whenever I’m at a new casino, when I get good cards and I’m 90% sure I’m gonna win. I get them to raise the pot. I pretend to be nervous and take a deep breath at each call and make my eyes watery on the last turn. I got like 5000 one time, but It’s a one time thing because people will pick up on it.
Now, another question.
If P1 has 200 bucks and goes all in
Does p2 (who has 2000 bucks) have to also go all in or can he just call like any other bet?
Some friend of mine said you are forced to also go all in (good thing it was a friendly match with fake money)
GOOD taste
EXQUISITE, PATRICIAN'S TASTE
P2 only has to call the amount P1 put in. If P1 went all in with 200, P2 calls with 200
>It's 2 that got the axe
I still have it, though, and am reinstalling both because of this thread.
Btw with the other way around.
P1 has 2000 and goes all in and p2 only has 200. P2 is Forced to fold or to go all in because he can’t call that.
Meant to quoteBut still.
The games were popular for two reasons
>TF2 was huge and it gave TF2 hats
>it had character interactions
Telltale is dead, TF2 is dead and we havent seen a cool original character made in 10 years
So, can p2 call in by going all in despite only having 200?
the walking dead kind of killed telltale
after walking dead was unironically a smash hit their execs smelled money and started taking on every shitty licensed project they were offered from borderlands to batman.
>Spy, from TF2
>Hank, from King of the Hill (Bobby is watching)
>Katie Tiedrich, from Awkward Zombie
>King K. Rool (get his cartoon voice actor, or a good imitator)
Katie, Judge, Pinkerton and Wolpaw work together for the writing.
>King k roll
>Not Goku
Yeah. If you don’t have enough to match the pot you either fold or go all in
>king kharacter with literally zero ties to steam or valve
:/
Huh. Sounds a bit broken.
Having only 200 and betting against higher bets seems lime cheatin'
Carl from ATHF
Tyrion Lannister from Game of Thrones
Guybrush
Tom Nook
The dealer is Dunkey
The best lineup for a third would be
>Engineer
>Guybrush
>Agent 47
>Carl Brutananadilewski
Bigby from Wolf Among Us
Guybrush from Monkey Island
Carl from ATHF
Alyx from Half Life
also G-Man as the dealer
>make a really good base poker game, or just a general gambling game with mahjong and other games
>sell new characters as DLC, old characters get updated with new lines
>this helps keep it going sustainably while keeping it low budget enough that it guarantees they'll go for a bunch of weird niche characters instead of trendy shit for its own sake
Seems like a good formula, honestly. There's a gap in the market for this sort of game, so what's stopping a company from doing this?
TF2 Medic.
Trevor Philips
Handsome Jack.
Green Arrow.
>old characters get updated with new lines
That. Voice actors are incredibly stingy now and if you don't treat them like superstars they won't reprise roles. It doesn't do a game like this that relies entirely on the interactions to have a character either go mute or have their voice change mid-game.
>Jailbot (+ Warden Cameos) as the dealer (Superjail)
>Ignignokt/Err (ATHF)
>Spy (TF2)
>Jacket (Hotline Miami)
>Smiley Bone (Telltale's BONE Series)
No wait, replace Green Arrow, with Francis or Nick from left 4 dead.
You would basically need to renegotiate for each licensed character every time a new character was added.
>trying to come up with a good character from a webcomic or webseries that could be in a new came
>legit can't come up with a single one
why are webcomics dead?
>Handsome Jack
Superb choice. Would love to see him interacting with a TF2 character.
Are you fucking kidding me.
The best lineup is
Jotaro Kujo (with Joseph on the background)
Kaiji
Yumeko (beta boy cheering her on)
And L from death note.
This, so much.
The play on Solid Snake's codec could be real fun.
Eh, I don't think Zombie Simpsons would add anything good into the mix.
Would be a great joke to have all of his responses narrated.
I doubt they'd get Bill Murray for Venkman, but Dave Coulier could voice him again.
I was going to suggest Bigby as well. Defenately the "Telltale" character to add after Sam & Max, Strongbad and Guybrush.
Clearly it would tie in with Heavy in Smash
Reminder to always mute or remove Claptrap.
unironically tycho being in it was a big influence on me buying
idk why
He's not really a tree surgeon.
monkey paw: poker night 3 is made but it's with popular youtubers
Why is Poker Night 2 unlisted on Steam? I still have it and can download it.
Then it wouldn't be Poker Night 3.
It would be a youtuber game with an inappropriate name slapped on it.
Is there a way to play these games in Borderless Windowed?
it'd sell more though
>tf2
>dead
Why do the same TORtanic retards keep parroting that a game which is top 10 on steam and takes under 10 seconds to find a full 12v12 game is "dead"?
just because you don't like it doesn't mean nobody's playing it
Guybrush and Murray

you are noob
So yeah.
If P1 has a bet of 2000$, but P2 only has 500$, can he call with an all in or is he forced to fold?
Just because him going all-in isn't worth as much as the first player doesn't mean the second player can't risk everything.
>tfw Poker Night 3 never
>Jailbot (+ Warden Cameos) as the dealer (Superjail)
Why after Season 2 it became.... uh not that good as before?
Come on guys, you just know if Poker Night 3 came out today it would be:
>Rick from Rick & Morty
>Minecraft guy
>Some faggot youtuber like jacksepticeye or yogscast
>Some lame Dota character nobody cares about or something
How can Steve even talk?
It would have to be that Story mode guy.
>>Rick from Rick & Morty
God this piece of shit was so annoying
These cards were worse than stairs
To understand that joke check out Borderlands 2 available now, Catch Borderlands Fever!
Patrick Warburton makes everything better so it didn't really matter to me that I've never watched venture bros
Telltale should have stuck with those kind of games.
They were comfy, engaging and other than negotiating IPs and voice actors I can't imagine it being very difficult to make.
Actually, I'm surprised no one else does these sort of games, not even necessarily specifically poker, just a light game that is filler for pretending to shoot the shit with known characters.
I also think non-vidya characters are more interesting, the two characters that stuck with me the most are Brock and Sam&Max (they're essentially one character), sure, the latter has games, but they're not mainly vidya characters.
Because I'd like something more Yea Forums than Yea Forums I'd probably go with
>Carl from ATHF
>Space ghost
>Rusty from the venture bros
uhh.. and maybe archer? but I don't think he'd work well with the rest of the cast, they need to be more or less on the same level of silliness.
Maybe Krieger could work.
You can't skip dialogue and there is no option to limit it in 2 so good luck
Why would you want to limit the dialogue? The dialogue is the entire point.
the tf2 items are the entire point
Heavy's not stupid, and the comics do show that he pays more attention to stuff than he lets on.
He can call with an all in. P1 could alternatively bet $500 and force P2 all in anyway, the extra $1500 means either the blinds are that high (so P1 can't bet any lower and P2 is really low on chips) or P1 is an idiot and offering P2 something for nothing.
>low budget
>getting licenses for all these characters owned by different companies
>hiring their respective voice actors
>for every line the writer writes, each respective company would need to approve, just in case they don't want to be associated with this or that line
There's a reason why they only got 4 characters for each game instead of doing just that. It's more an investment than it might seem at first
P2 can call it but P1's excess money will be returned to him.
Shame how Heavy is a deconstruction of the "big idiot" trope as a very intelligent Russian man who is just not very good at speaking English, yet this genius is lost on most of the playerbase.
What's the worst possible hand in Poker?
He's sort of a gentle giant, specially with his family, until he gets on the battlefield. At which point it's CRY SOME MORE
A losing hand.
Reread what I've wrote
No offense but the bad grammar made it difficult to properly understand what you meant. In the first game Heavy isn't really portrayed as a stupid character. Violent as hell, sure, but not stupid.
As for whether it's canon in terms of TF2 lore, probably. I'm sure Valve had to approve, if not even helped, with the writing for Heavy.
What if there are three players?
P1 - bets 600
P2- calls 600
P3- only has 300.
Then you have a side pot, 300 that all 3 are playing for, and 300 only P1 and P2 are playing for.
900 and 600, sorry.
2 and 7 off suit.

>Jacket (Hotline Miami)
He doesn't talk. I had the same idea, but it's meh at best.
Playing poker in this game seems super natural but when people try and explain it like i feel a bit dumb
I need to find friends that like poker.
My main fanily nor closeby friends like to play a whole game thru, even after buying some play chips.
>Go all-in on a Queen and Ace
>Sam does too
>He also has a Queen and Ace

how
Unless you're playing with someone really good, poker is a game where that shit about the second most dangerous swordsman can come into play. I've seen relatively experienced players get bodied by people who have to look up what the hands are on their phone because they didn't know how to play against the human equivalent of RNG.
And be instantly forgotten faster.

Nice.
At least Strip Poker Night exists
Poker is a zero sum game. The others can bet more because that money they have is the one you used to have but lost to them.
Legal stuff aside, the game itself would stay the same and you'd be paying for literal reskins of characters. It wouldn't work in the long run.
