I mean in the sense Terraria is fun. Starbound is not.

Modders were trying for a while, but the devs subtly alienated them and repeatedly shit on the whole audience who was paying attention to the game. Anyone interested in modding in the year or so after the first public release would have been a witness to numerous scandals and tantrums, usually directed at critics, as well as straight up lies and scams directed at modders specifically.

For a long time updates either removed features to simplify things or cosmetic furniture, and slowly the game was simplified down to nothing and all originality was dropped. This was mostly because they had no plan for the game design outside of the first planet you land on and getting into space.

For people who weren't paying attention, the game was chugging along just fine. For the active players and forum users it was a different story, things rapidly went downhill.

FU is amazing. It adds so much of what I'd hoped would be in the game when I played early alpha

I was working on a gui mod maker on the side while I was in highschool but they changed everything 2 or 3 times and now I have a pile of dead code. Once the game released and I was ready to do change definitions once again, I realized how awful the combat (the hitstun is garbage) was and couldnt bring myself to replay the entire game again for the dumb storyline or finish the mod maker. My 60yr old dad loves the game though, he got a video card just to play it without lagging and he has over 2,000 hours now I think.

I wish entities were redone entirely and it would feel like a new game.

god I cant believe how badly they fucked this up. I dont understand how they managed to make the original base game yet not make a story or enemies to go with it. Like they had the hardest part done then just stagnated till it died.

If the game still isn't good this long from release date, then there is no hope.

There isn't any reason for them to update this any longer, unless maybe if they're planning a sequel of some sort.
They already got their money's worth off the game.
Anons who bought this probably only have mods left to make this game good.

Did Terraria ever give you a ranged construction/destruction tool? That's what I loved about Starbound, the building was a lot friendlier.

Starbound definitely needs better boss battles.
