Shadow's story in '06 had great writing by Sonic standards and everybody seems to wave it off because "'06 bad."
I mean yeah, '06 was a terrible game, but sometimes it pisses me off how people act like literally nothing about the game was good. I mean christ, take a listen to the OST.

WHY THE FUCK DID MEPHILIS OR WHATEVER HIS NAME IS LOOK LIKE A SHADOW COLOR SWAP
>great writing by Sonic standards
>ignoring the fucking FF bitch, the characters can time travel at will but never realize what they can do with it
>Shadow was always meant to seal Mephistopheles but was locked up in Prison Island meaning he had at one point broke out of Prison Island, visted Soleana cause he heard the food was good, helped the duke out, return back to Prison Island and then awaken for Eggman to kickstart the events of Sonic Adventure 2.
Don't throw out the shit 06 was suppose to be a reboot cause Generations and Forces say fuck you
He copied Shadow's image because Shadow sealed him away in the Scepter
He wanted to remember Shadow's face so he could take vengeance
EVEN BEFORE HE TURNED INTO A CRYSTAL MONSTER HE STILL LOOKED LIKE SHADOW
WHY
This is more of a possible animation error, but in one of the playthroughs Silver leaves Elise the blue chaos emerald around her next but leaves with the emerald still in his hand
Also final point why the fuck was Mephiles plan so pointless? All he needed was to make Elise cry and he can also time travel at will, why do all this bullshit when he can just go fucking to a time where she was a kid and idk shit on her happy meal?
Man 06s art style was perfect for the game. It was trying to be more mature and there is a twinge of sadness and misery in all its environments. Even as a bright sunny beach, wave oceans more subdued colors works well. Its to bad this game failed, this shouldve been modern sonic.
'06 had a lot of time travel involved.

Shadow and Silver travel about 10 years into the past. Watch 26:10 - 27:10, it should make sense.
Sonic games have literally never had a good story and the series cannot have a deep or even remotely serious story. The setting just can't really handle it. Either you've got furry drama that's melodramatic and retarded as shit like Sonic Forces, or you've got the shitfest that was Ow the Edge and SA2. You simply can't mix Sonic with the real world and have a solid, well done story in the context of a video game. The comics already do that shit well enough.
SA2's story was kino desu
No it wasn't. SA2's story was ridden with plotholes and asspulls that made for an extremely awful story with only memorable moments. It's one of those stories where the writers knew what parts they wanted to focus on but just made all kinds of retarded shit up along the way to get to each point. Shadow being a top secret research project is fucking retarded and it makes zero sense how he's able to use all this Chaos Emerald bullshit while Sonic is totally unable to, except for when he uses a fake emerald that has absolutely zero reason to work.
Nevermind the fact that the chaos abilities aren't kept consistent by any means. It wasn't good, you just have an EXTREMELY low bar for quality. I normally loathe being an elitist about storytelling but I don't know how else to put it other than that. You only think SA2 is good because you haven't thought anything at all about the plot holes or you choose to ignore them. I'm not gonna say you're wrong to enjoy it. You sure as hell aren't, but to say it's good is just absurd.
Wasn't he just a shadow blob till he took the form of Shadow which he didn't do till he was released?
SA2 had a great story that people really liked. You are a redditor and use discord.
autism
>arguing plot issues in a thread praising Sonic 06
Kek. SA2 wasn't the tightest plot however it got the entertainment parts down, and it got the emotional parts down like no other Sonic title since. It's flawed yes but it's a damn sight better than anything else in the Sonic series when it comes to a plot.
"that people really liked" isn't proof it's good. People think Gears of War 3 was a tragic as fuck game when it was telegraphed shit from a mile away. Eat shit nerd.
Holy shit please be joking. Both of those are completely wrong.
Sonic 06 is arguably a better Shadow game than Shadow's own game.
mostly because I didn't entirely hate the level design
Would have actually been nice if the game wasn't such a mess in terms of handling, collisions, etc.
SA2's story is dumb, but not that bad. It's something right out of a shonen anime.
>It's one of those stories where the writers knew what parts they wanted to focus on but just made all kinds of retarded shit up along the way to get to each point.
That seems to describe your post.
You've come to a set of conclusions, and half-assed the reasons behind it.
Fucking this.
>Both of those are completely wrong
Considering you're defending 06 your opinion don't mean shit.
Show me where I defended Sonic 06. I'll wait.
Sonic doesn't need to have a good story, Sonic just needs fun stories
people look back on SA2's story not because it's some masterpiece, but because it's memorable and enjoyable. You can go on and on about illogical stuff or plot holes, but nobody cares because all the iconic and memorable moments are story beats but specific lines of dialogue that stuck in people's heads.
Congrats, you regurgitated everything I just said in the second paragraph. Here's a smug anime girl so that I can speak your language.
I definitely feel like for the seemingly infinite amount of problems 06 has, it, for whatever reason, gave Shadow's character the perfect picture of his post personal story mindset, of being a serious, level headed hedgehog that intends to keep his promise to Maria, and that actually values his friends
And also basically implying strongly that, possibly, one of the reasons why Eggman left Omega with Shadow is because Omega actually has a snowball's chance in hell to beat him in a straight fight, as shown in the future.
It was like the writer was taking smartpills, but only when writing Shadow and the gang.
This. I miss it so much.
The writer of Shadow's story in '06 was actually his creator, Shiro Maekawa. He wrote SA2 and Black Knight as well.
unf i wanna fuck rouge
Pick one.
I'll pick "play a different game because it's too fucked to sort out with one option" for $500 please.
Honestly I'd take loading. When I was younger I managed to put up with the dumbass glitches and story problems but not the load times. It was fucking unbearable. Give me that and I'll give the game another shot.
>The writer of Shadow's story in '06 was actually his creator, Shiro Maekawa
Well that explains why it felt a bit more coherent in comparison to the other stories
That's why I like Omega. He needs a team because he's basically average against most opposition, but he's guaranteed to defeat Shadow. It's the perfect balancing of a weapon, making him a buster rather than putting him a full level above Shadow.
Voice acting.
Any terrible game would be worth playing
for some surreal shit like Adam Sandler as Shadow
>Charles Martinet as Sonic
How do we know Shadow went all out against Omega? They're pretty good friends now, and I'm sure that bond would only strengthen over the course of the 100, 200 years they're together before Omega seals him away.
I'd imagine Shadow would have a hard time fighting his reprogrammed buddy, even if he is just a robot.
Was this one of the last times Rouge had pretty big tats? recently it seems like they're trying to tone them down, especially in that TSR short
I highly doubt Shadow has the personality to sacrifice himself, and his mission, for the sake of a friend who has, for all intents and purposes, turned traitor on him. Considering Shadow's past, I think he'd prioritize punishing traitors even if they were once his allies. He's shown he cares deeply about friendships, and severing that bond would be a serious transgression.
Ironically enough, the Olympic games.
I don't know. I just don't feel like Omega could manage to take down a focused Shadow who's taken off his Inhibitors and is at max power. I feel like he would need to be taken off guard or some shit.
holy fuck you faggots they're TALKING CARTOON ANIMALS
you niggers are discussing the melodramatic nuances of a fucking whacky animal kids game story
the 3D Sonic games were a FUCKING mistake jesus christ someone itt said SA2 had a good story what the fuck is wrong with you deranged retards
I don't blame you for that, especially with how awful Omega handles in the games. However, that's why I believe he's a buster weapon. Against every other enemy, he's average, because he's specialized to specifically take down Shadow, in case the Ultimate Life Form ever goes rogue.
>s-stop having fun!
absolutely seething. go take your meds you faggot
>he's specialized to specifically take down Shadow
Eggman specializes all of his robots specifically to take down Sonic and fails every time. I don't see why Omega would be any different.
>Eggman specializes all of his robots specifically to take down Sonic and fails every time.
Except that literally isn't true because he's got other problems to deal with like in Sonic 1, CD, and Unleashed.
Was she even playable in any of them? I think she was just a boss too. But yeah you're right, the webm that is used to start Rouge threads is from one of intros and they look pretty damn big in one of them
Omega is an E-Series robot, and specifically the last in that series. E-102 Gamma is from the same series, and showed that the E-Series has the ability to go "above" standard programming. Considering that Omega is the culmination of years of research and field testing, he's the ultimate robot. The other robots Eggman creates are mass-produced, like the Eggbots or the Shadow drones, meaning they have numbers, but not higher levels of programming. It's why we see them use human-wave tactics rather than actual strategy.
Actually he was the shadow blob first, then copied shadow, he explains it in the past cutscene.
the box none of these can make 06 good by themselves
Apparently she's only playable in Beach Volleyball? I wonder why they won't make her playable in other events. Characters far less important than her are playable in everything.
Sonic 06 is completely canned and replaced with a new game called Sonic and the Allfather. It plays like Secret Rings but on 360/PS3 and takes place in Norse Mythology.
Not sure if you prefer it but too bad it's what you theoretically get.
better than 06 at least
Maybe she's too sexy? Maybe they couldn't find a good sports design for her without covering her cleavage (which is a big no no)? They should know by now that the sonic fanbase is full of autistic furries so they might as well let Rouge be playable in other games with a new design (with cleavage or her riders costume). They still void Amy don't they, or did they settle with spats?
The comics had him build a mech that was specifically tailored to Sonic and it beat the bull shit out him and burned down the forest village he was living in. The flaw however was that it was tailored ONLY to Sonic and got completely mossed by the other characters.
I know it's a different media but it's likely the exact same idea.
This is of course completely ignoring the Wild card that is the chaos emeralds
>They still void Amy don't they, or did they settle with spats?
Amy has actually never been voided ever. In fact, Sonic characters don't void period. Amy in particular is known for gratuitous panty shots, to the point where at least one game has mocked it.
The olympic games do give her a whole new outfit that has spats though. They give them to Sticks too (cause she'd go commando otherwise)
Look, I'm not a furry, but
I mean, I like parts of Shadow's story too but this scene is pretty fuckin' lame, OP. The whole concept of HUMANITY WILL TURN ON SHADOW BECAUSE THEY FEAR HIM was fine when it was just something Mephiles was using to taunt him but when it's brought out and discussed by the characters this blatantly, it's maudlin as shit. Omega talking about how HUMANITY WILL FEAR WHAT IT DOES NOT UNDERSTAND is so fucking lame.
Shadow being like "I don't care about any of this, you're an asshole, I'm going to beat you because that's my job." is good. It's extremely faithful to where his character is after his own game and is the only real narrative highlight of 06, but let's not pretend the whole campaign was great, or like, anywhere near his arc in SA2.
>one game has mocked it
Which one?
I feel like roundhouse kicking op in the back of his head
Glitches. Why would you pick anything else? I'll give you load times at least.
>Muh voice acting
>muh bestiality
>muh lore
>lol the box
Really? I only remember playing the original on DS and saw pure darkness but maybe that was just because of the spats being flat textures. Still wonder why they don't let Rouge be playable, some of the mini games can be somewhat erotic with the angles and with her having such a big bust can probably awaken some kids. maybe in the new one they'll let her in but I doubt it.were there any nude mods for any of the games? they seem kinda perfect for that kinda stuff
That's because Shadow is the actual protagonist of this story. Sonic's is the least important aside from the princess being a walking plot device and Silver spends most of his story doing nothing of consequence for the present. Only Shadow finds out who the actual villain is and tries to stop him.
I heard someone say this on a YouTube video, which is where I'm assuming you got it. Anyway, while the plot of StH is garbage, you're wrong because it's a time paradox.
Past Shadow is still wherever he is while Future Shadow comes back, seals Mephilis, and goes back to the future. Mephilis now hates Shadow for events that he technically hasn't even done yet.
He explains why in-game. Twice. And the first time is literally his first line of dialogue.
Originally he's a shadow blob, but he copies someone else to gain a physical form. He chose Shadow, so he looks like him.
I'd really like a game that focuses on just Sonic and Shadow, where both of them are the protagonists of the story. Shadow's just as capable of doing shit as Sonic, but lately he's been sitting on the sidelines doing jack shit because ST is retarded.
I feel like, to some degree, they need to split up Sonic's cast and have them all doing different things.
>Team Sonic and Team Rose (Amy, Cream, Blaze) dealing with Eggman primarily
>Team Dark doing shit for GUN
>Team Chaotix doing detective shit
>Silver also shows up to do things now and then
This might surprise you, but Team Dark canonically doesn't work for G.U.N.
It was literally a one time thing, Shadow and Rouge don't actually have jobs.
Really? I guess that makes sense since it's never come up since then.
Still, it'd be nice to let the cast branch out and do other things. Even if you keep Eggman as an overarching villain, I think it kinda sucks that most of the extended cast can't do more than be Sonic's cheerleading squad.
Shit opinion AND there's literally nothing "plot hole" related about Sonic only figuring out to use chaos control when he did. Plot elements you don't like aren't "plot holes". And most plot holes people point out aren't even really plot holes at all, see this video: youtube.com
>Pick one
Bitch even if you picked all of them it still wouldn't be enough to save it. There's no fucking "gameplay" option to fix the god awful repetitive level design.
There are so many nice and genuinely likeable characters that have been sidelined to pander to brainlets. Hopefully one day they'll have a use again.
Shadow's portion of the game was pretty good honestly, the combo deal he could do helped immensely with how enemies had health bars and such, which Sonic had a ton of difficulty dealing with. Felt like the game was more designed around him, like how MM&B is. The writing in Shadow's portion is also the only decent part of the story as you noted, and he's characterized well to boot. Sonic's story is a mess and Silver's really awkward to play as even though you get some broken ass abilities later that make him super easy mode, so people remember the bad more than the good especially since it's apparently really funny to just shit on Sonic continuously as if nothing of value has ever come out of the franchise.
>Shadow being a top secret research project is fucking retarded
Why?
>and it makes zero sense how he's able to use all this Chaos Emerald bullshit while Sonic is totally unable to
Sonic IS able to. That's a plot point later in the game. Yeah, he does it with a fake emerald, but it's continually mentioned that the fake is virtually indistinguishable from the real one in terms of capabilities. Sonic even uses Chaos Control with all seven Emeralds at the end of the game, not to mention Sonic 2006.
Even if TSR isn't as good as Transformed I'm glad it's keeping Blaze alive. There was a real concern she was getting retired when she didn't even show up in Forces but Silver did.
I feel like everyone in this poster makes a good core cast member (except maybe Big since he's kind of simple). Just add in Omega and Blaze.
>Shadow being a top secret research project is fucking retarded
It makes complete sense. Shadow is modeled after the echidna mural from Sonic 3 which shows Super Sonic (hence the way his quills look) fighting Robotnik as a prophecy, it becomes obvious when you realize how much of the ancient shit from Knuckles' tribe (seen in Adventure 1) Gerald mimicks with the shit on the ARK designed to draw out the power of the various Emeralds.
> it makes zero sense how he's able to use all this Chaos Emerald bullshit while Sonic is totally unable to, except for when he uses a fake emerald that has absolutely zero reason to work.
What? Sonic can do all of the shit Shadow can, but he's not very accustomed to it and for most of the game he doesn't have direct access to an Emerald. Why wouldn't the fake Emerald work? Tails made it from researching the Emerald he received for saving the city in Adventure 1 and duplicated it nearly perfectly, but it's not as powerful as the real deal as he states himself. So Sonic can use it to activate Chaos Control, but it visibly wears him out both because it's his first time doing that plus the Emerald is not up to snuff. He uses it more freely in his fight against Shadow at the end of Dark Story because he's becoming better at doing it, and uses a targeted Chaos Control along with Shadow to teleport the ARK when you beat the Finalhazard.
>Nevermind the fact that the chaos abilities aren't kept consistent by any means.
How so? You didn't elaborate on this at all, and from your prior points it sounds like you paid absolutely no attention at all to begin with.
>game is an unplayable mess
>be mad people don't bother with the rest of it
