I haven't played a Digimon game at all, and have only dabbled in the V-Pets, but I like their monsters and the concepts behind them. Have a bump Tentobro.

Also as a citizen of a capitalist country, I think having more than one monster raising franchise is a good thing. Pokemon can't be the king of the castle forever, but they surely aren't going to be dethroned by EvoCreo.

Lilithmon in the Story games usually has crazy high damage output. Profiles are screwy for Digimon, but if you want to make it work, maybe think of Nazar Nail needing to actually connect with victim instead of nuking the place with power and is just a big claw arm, and Phantom Pain is a damage over time (although still feeling it even after you die is crazy.)

He is still not the most powerful. I get that you sometimes need to up the stakes, but powercreep ruins everything. Look at Pokemon.

Orange one (Vaccine) only has to fight a lot.
Blue one (Virus) fights a lot too, but its flesh is also rotting.
The Blue one is the original version of the monster, but the folks changed it for Adventure, since I don't think people would be keen on having a cyborg zombie as the main character's monster, especially after SkullGreymon.

I will admit my imagination got a head of me when writing that post, but it's always what comes to mind when I read the official description.

Plus it takes the piss out of Omegamon and has intentional visual weirdness like the pixelization on offical art, textures screwing up in some conditions in Cyber Sleuth, and it has a fucking lion head with eyes for a hand.

They're all data/programs, so it makes sense that there might be some Digimon who are just slight variations, appearance-wise, but completely different in behaviour.

Four usual causes.
First was denoting important recruits from mob enemies in Digimon World. I actually like a lot of these guys. General appearances vary from low-effort filler to allowing more branching path in later games.
Second are "the wrong version" which are usually weaker/evil versions. Metalgreymon Virus is weird since it was the original, but pushed into this role. Kind of bland.
Third are making more versions of popular characters, which is hit or miss depending on how it goes.
Finally you just have redesigns which could easily been a new species but they just wanted to use the name again. These ones in particular are fucked because compete against themselves for usage (Agumon v Agumon 2006 version is the most blatant).

Also there are counterparts like Tyranomon / Dark Tyranomon or Devimon/Angemon which have different designs, which make the straight recolors annoying.

Lots of grinding early game or when your digimon is between rookie to champion, then you steamroll the game once you hit ultimate or mega (depending on how hard you grinded back when your digimon was in rookie or champion form).
Then once they die of old age you go back to the grind for a few in-game days/1-2 real life hours.

If you can't stomach the grind you'll probably hate the game. Cyber Sleuth is more of a standard RPG so it's easier to get into for newcomerrs.

There's really only one fun digimon game and even then it's a weird game. It's that beat em up game where you fight your opponent, collect stuff, and digivolve, then kick his ass. I played the shit out of the gameboy advanced game, never got into the ps2 one. The rest of them are fucking turn based menu navigation bullshit. It's not hard, people, we all know what we want. Basically, a classroom of kids get sent to the digital world and get Digimon that turn into a member of the Olympus 12
The teacher comes along too, and ends up befriending a wild goblimon and tries to teach them to behave and that being wise and strong is better than being strong
The goblimon eventually starts to listen, and starts to respect the teacher. It digivolves into an Ogremon and it and the teacher kind of have a banter-y, goofy relationship. Then it turns into a digitamamon to save the group from a threat, and starts using its brains to fight since it lost its arms. Then, it saves the group again by digivolving into a Minervamon, but it still acts like it did as an ogremon so the teacher and it have this awkward relationship full of banter and shit but it’s weird for the teacher now

Tamers is overrated, the moment they stopped shilling the cardgame it felt like another digimon series
Frontier is kids transforming into digimon, interesting concept but some parts are slow
Savers goes back to adventure formula but everyone reach ultimate form like in tamers
XrosWars is hit or miss, halfway gets good
Hunters is the 02 of Xros Wars but worse
AppliMonster is hit or miss, don't expect to see old digimon except for agumon just for fanservice

I guess it makes sense they would vary a bit since was early days. Although their designs were pretty consistent, the Sega Saturn Japan-only game had Digimon shifted all over from what their later standardized level would be. But really cute robot guy should have been more reoccurring than just Digimon World 2 before going to the shadow realm.

The later part of the game really doesn't fuck around, but the Eaters become significantly easier if you have something with DEF/INT-piercing moves. Lillithmon and Belphemon Rage Mode absolutely killed any difficulty once I got them. Outside of learning the gimmick behind Imperialdramon Paladin Mode.

I started playing hackers memory a while back and I chose tentamon since he is my all time favorite of the group, and I only stopped because my vita died, but now I have it back and im wondering if I should just start over because I feel lost, all I really remember is that I really really want to hug Yu and date him.

Decided to try and raise a numemon in Cyber Sluts, this was the pleasant surprise I was rewarded with. I like the ugly duckling thing, and the idea of Minervamon evolving by just popping out of Monzaemon like a mascot costume is cute.

there are probably better digimon to represent becoming a demon, but I like how his skin is more purplish and can connect musayamon's blue skin and gaioumon's black. he also has aspects to his design that are similar to kotemon's like his feet and tail, and he's not too crazy. New story and some modes, around 70 Digimon that weren't in the original, and at least an attempt at rebalancing. Translation isn't quite as shit either.

The status condition the opponent is held still with a ring and timer above them. The winning move is to not let the other guy do anything.

I may be basic, but I always loved Agumon's design.

Based on design alone... it's hard to choose. Terriermon might be neat.

Things like Thunder Justice, Ice Statue, Giga Freeze, and Megalo Spark come out extremely quickly and are spammable. They also have a high chance to paralyze, which prevents the victim with being stunned for about 10 seconds.

For something so rarely used, Witch on sure varies a lot in how the face gets drawn. Sometimes like a scarecrow with sharp teeth and markings, sometimes a cute anime girl.

I've only seen Adventure and Frontier, but I really like the design of digimon and how they grow with each other.
I've been watching Adventure 02 and I don't really like it, feels too much like a retread
I've only played Cyber Sleuth, and that's pretty good

Well, yeah, that's not even debatable. But that's also like saying a meal of pretty much anything is better than a bar of protein and nutrients.

Too easy.

But I'm not a huge fan of either, for me I have problems with digimon forms. So many wasted ones that serve no purpose and so many humanoid ones at the end that look like samey garbage.

My favourite digimon game is digimon card battle(I think thats the name)

Funny part is that a good chunk of the humanoid designs that aren't Mega level are actually decently varied. It's only when you get to Mega that the usual mecha-knight nonsense seems to completely consume all other design philosophies.
