Try out Dolphin emulator again after 5 years

>try out Dolphin emulator again after 5 years
>Metroid Prime is STILL a stuttering piece of shit and Hyrule field in Twilight Princess is STILL fucked up
Why are emulators for anything past PS1 era so fucking shit?

PS2 emulation is fine.

am i in backwards land what planet are you posting from
dolphin is the best emulator ive ever played, ps2 emulators need bios to start and fucking with the settings for literally every individual game

Attached: 1526279833204.gif (200x150, 1.11M)

emulation is a meme

>need bios to start
Fucking brainlet detected

I didn't say it was difficult you retard just another step that only happens on PS1 and 2

You have absolutely zero idea what you're talking about.

I mean this. You're a fucking retard.

Lmao this is the state of Dolphin users

>download dolphin
>download game
>play at 1080p60fps

>download pcsx 2
>download bios file
>link bios
>download game
>boot emulator
>select disc tray
>notice graphical error
>look up fixes
>tinker with emulation settings

I didn't say I didn't understand it you fucking idiots. Dolphin is way more user friendly and takes way less time to set up. Literally never heard of anyone bashing dolphin before, especially not in favor of ps2 emulation of all fucking things. Both work but one is way faster to set up and get going, and the other has spotty compatibility and major issues in almost every game.

>something requires slightly more effort to use
>IT'S FUCKING SHIT
kill yourself

nintendo fans are literally retarded

>he didn't grab the latest version
You don't really make your point convincing when it's obvious you didn't even play an up-to-date revision

Not once did I say it was shit you braindead fanboy. I'm emulating TTYD and P3FES right now, both at 1080p60fps 16:9. I said one works out of the box and the other needs tinkering.

How do you even figure out how to turn on your PC? Fucking idiot consolebabby

The Gamecube has like 1/5th of the games the PS2 has. And only 1/5th of that 1/5th are even worth playing.

This is why Dolphin has a "good" reputation, because there are literally only a few games that the emu even needs to have working fine. Even so, a lot of games have bugs that have persisted for literally over half a decade. Metroid Prime has micro stuttering that has never been fixed, Twilight Princess' Hyrule field causes your game to slow down the longer you play it. Monster Hunter Tri has absolutely fucked up bloom. etc etc.

ALL of those bugs have been around for 5+ years and have never been fixed.

hardware gets more and more complicated

You're pathetic

Dolphin is fine if you update it and choose directx if in windows or opengl in linux. (With a shit mini pc I was able to get 60 fps in brawl which has problems still)
Mac version will never get updated due to actions from apple.

what. those both play fine.
you know the old version doesn't automatically update right? you can't just keep checking in on your 3.0 client expecting it to be any better.

download 5.0/ the latest dev build.

You're getting a lot of shit, I'm not sure why, I would legitimately agree that dolphin is easier to use over rpcsx2 which is what I used when I played MGS.
t. emufag who hasn't bought a game in 2 years

>zoomers think slight stuttering and some frame drops are an issue in emulation
Fuck you dorks I played paper mario from start to finish in 2006 on an emulator and it had a bug where every 2nd frame the entire world and all the sprites would disappear so the world and characters would flash away and you'd have an empty skybox 25 times a second.

Attached: 1544657880910.png (655x563, 292K)

>rpcsx2
can't even name the fucking emulator correctly.

Fucking idiots, both of you.

>booting it up is an extra step you put down
>selecting your game is an extra step you put down
>googling is an extra step but only takes 30 seconds
Dude use directx if on windows or if on linux then use opengl.
Start at native and later on put the resolution up.

>>booting it up is an extra step you put down
because in PCSX 2 you have to swap discs and then hit restart console. in dolphin you click the game.

This thread is proof that consolefags need to stay in their lane.

Works on my machine

Metroid Prime's stuttering was fixed a long time ago

Use a dev build, and turn on ubershaders

>software renderer required for 95% of all games unless you like graphical glitches
>software is slow af and limited to ant-sized resolutions like 480i.
It's not fine.

>Claims to be a vidya fan
>doesn't have a modded PS2 and a modded wii at his disposal
Just remove yourself from the board and come back when you have the required materials

Just mod your wii, fag

i'm playing the games at higher resolution and frame rate with better textures and less input delay stop being an elitest you're not even playing the original discs

update dolphin. its your own fault if it doesnt work.

>playing at 480p res on a TV screen
no thanks

PS2 emulation is legit shit and it's a better idea to buy an old fat PS2 and softmod it with an HDD

emulation lets you upscale the textures and make games look way better on modern screens

Softmodding a PS2 lets you have the PS2 natively ouput at 1080p with minimal framedrop

they also fuck up graphics sometimes. jak and daxter still has fucked up eyes iirc
emulation is nice when it works fine, and I use it in those cases, but real hardware is way more reliable

Stop lying you fucking cunts

>natively
wrong, gs mode selector only upscales
>1080p
wrong, gs mode selector goes as high as 1080i and most games don't support that

>he doesn't know that someone wrote their own super optimized video driver for the PS2 that allows it to play every game in 720p and most games up to 1080p

Most games don't play nice when forced to run in progressive mode though.

This was good bait

"""""""fine"""""""

Attached: 1371293033804.jpg (316x470, 27K)

I'm assuming most JRPGs run fine

When he says modding your wii he means more than just playing pirated games

Attached: 15C1370F-6FF0-437F-B184-4A3203D6DFA0.jpg (425x425, 14K)

are you really going to pick apart typos on an anonymous anime image board?

>upscale the textures
Why are people who defend PCSX2 also always tech illiterate?

Its obvious when someone doesn't know what the fuck they're talking about

There's some great emulators out there:

PS1: Madnafen
PS2: buy a fucking fat PS2 and softmod it
SNES: Higan

Are the hdmi mods even good?

I found an I7 9700K for about 350 dollars, will it help with emulation at all if I'm going up from an I5 also yes I'm retarded with computers help me play Devil Summoner

Since this seems to be the best place to ask, where the fug do I get a good rom download without resorting to fucking torrenting shit? Most sites are down or blocked in my country.

That thing doesn't change resolution though, it just allows for HDMI output still at 480p

>>try out Dolphin emulator again after 5 years
>he downloaded the stable build
>which is 3 years old
Here you go m8, all that shit was fixed ages ago:
dl.dolphin-emu.org/builds/dolphin-master-5.0-10159-x64.7z

>an I5
What i5? There's over a hundred different models.

I5 2500K

Yeah, that'd be a significant upgrade.

>461202072
>461202140

the absolute state of emuniggers.

pls respond, I just wanna play SMTIV

Attached: 1549847298111.jpg (1280x720, 87K)

vimm

You have to go out of your way to even download the stable build. The latest dev build is on the front page and the top of the downloads page. There is no excuse other than to shitpost that the older builds are shit compared to the newer builds.

are you able to use MEGA?

he said SMTIV retard

Nope, I concur. The glitches are usually just cosmetic, but they are in EVERY game. Emu-fags just convince themselves it's fine. But no amount of playing with alternate pixel centres and anti-aliasing options will remove the seams between textures if you bump the resolution up, jak & daxter's eyes are never coming back, fatal frame's ghost effects are going to fuck up and due to unavoidable differences in how the PS2 and the PC handle floating point logic glitches are going to happen too. Just try and go through certain doors on the Japanese Zero 1. They have bad collision boxes that make it tricky on real hardware and actually, literally impossible on PCSX2 unless you enable some EE hacks. Videos are always going to glitch out a little, many games are 480i and make use of that fact to speed up rendering and PC hardware was never designed to deal with this leading to ugly as fuck output because the PC just doesn't have a "240p with pixel shift" output.

Liar. It works perfectly for me

Doesnt have SMTIV but still very apreciated user.
I dont see any reason why I couldnt user, my country blocks the websites themselves but MEGA is fine.

3dscia.com/2013/07/shin-megami-tensei-iv.html
okay try this and if it doesn't work use the mega

also try here user

>Dolphin is way more user friendly and takes way less time to set up.
I was with you until you said that. Jesus, Dolphin is amazing, but god damn that controller configuration screen is batshit insane. Trying to map actual analogue triggers to analogue functions is a total crapshoot.
And heaven help you if you're trying to bluetooth real Wiimotes. It will work, but god damn it no one is ever getting that shit to work first time and it's only like 40% windows' fault.

Sounds like you tried a new version with the same fucking processor, you fucking moron.

Dolphin is the better emulator by far. I think people come out against it here because trannies worked on it.

PPSSPP runs circles around both of them.

the hell are you talking about? i've never had any issues with dolphin's controller config (granted I haven't used it to emulate wii, only GC) but the PCSX2 controller plug in took a lot of fucking around and changing profiles and mapping to make work. (although granted part of that was me using a ds4 and ds4windows, but even still it worked flawlessly on dolphin)

>play fatal frame on pcsx2
>have to constantly toggle f9 when aiming camera at ghosts because theres some rendering issues causing the capture circle to not show up

Attached: 4966bf92372ed41117dc5c8a8a1536321497098851_full.png (640x360, 246K)

Just use your wii controllers

PPSSPP is by far the best modern emulator

that's funny, Metroid Prime Trilogy runs flawlessly on Dolphin in 4k Widescreen for me

You need to upgrade your computer too dumbass

I'm relatively new to emulation. Couple questions questions.
>How to fix visual glitches when bumping up the internal resolution?
>Why do cutscenes stutter while gameplay runs fine and how to fix that?
>Are all games locked to 30fps? And if not how do I unlock them?
>What kind of NASA CPU do I need to build an emulating-exclusive PC?

Attached: Screen Shot 2019-05-06 at 5.51.17 PM.png (2784x1642, 2.84M)

>Just buy a fat PS2 bro
fucking retard and where am I going to play it? CRT TVs are fucking extinct.

Are you relatively stupid?

>google the issue
>google the issue
>google the issue
>google the issue

>mac
What are you doing

My most sincere of thanks user, and my apologies for being a idiot around emulation downloads.

I will cherish the fuck out of this, based bro. Have a good one.

Attached: 1487228211889.jpg (1024x576, 63K)

Yes you fucking faggot.

I'll build my Hackintosh soon, fuck off back to

Why are you emulating on a mac you fucking idiot

>actually defending having to jump through hoops and manually find work arounds for every individual title
you’re a pathetic elitist that gets off on tinkering shit. you probably find the fun in just getting it working over the actual game itself.

Because I wanted to play Pokémon in my free time and because I'm not partitioning my 128gb hard drive to install Wangblows 10.
Besides I've tested that in the past and I didn't notice a difference on Windows, it ran the same in some parts, and it lagged the same in others.

If you ever need more help finding roms or isos, try looking here:
emulation.gametechwiki.com/index.php/ROM_&_ISO_Sites

Because the emulation its harder and people working on those proyects do it mostly for passion since all those emulators are free, thats the reason you stupid moron.

I don't even know where to begin with this post. Whatever. Enjoy being retarded. It won't work on a mac.

Emulated Prime at above 1080p on a 770 and i5 4690 like 3 months ago

Attached: sunglasses_cat.jpg (550x516, 80K)

Weird. Never seemed to be an issue before Patreon.

If only some of the other emulation scenes had as much passion instead of doing it to fellate their plugins.

You do realise those games are still 480i resolution? you can only upscale them to 720p/1080p
