What in the fuck is the point in playing Ninja Gaiden when Sekiro exists and doesn't have you say gay whenever you tell someone the title?

Both Ninja Gaiden Black and vanilla NG2 are amazing.
Ninja Gaiden Sigma is ok remake of the Black. Sigma 2 is a fucking abomination.
Razor's Edge is a definition of a polished turd.

Ninja Gaiden was built around simple inputs, the games don't have lock on. Also similar to bayo the game is designed around aggressive enemies and you need to be utilizing i-frames. There's a lot of tech like on land charge, shuriken cancelling and the wind path to master if you want to be good at these games.

NG2 also has the best gibs I've seen in an action game.

NG is focused on taking out aggressive enemies as quickly and efficiently as possible. You still have combos, but the game doesn't emphasize juggling in the way DMC does.

Instead of doing all that work to port these games to 3 different platforms themselves, they instead had Microsoft do all the work to get them running on Xbone and they still get paid from digital purchases.

This. The devs dont do anything. MS does the work. They just need the all clear from the publisher (Who they are for NG2) and they throw it on the emulator and work out the kinks. Team Ninja did nothing

Check facebook marketplace or craigslist. Base bones are cheaper now and are pretty worth it for the back compat.

Microsoft themselves published vanilla NG2 so you'd never see it on other consoles no matter what. Maybe Windows 10, but that's it. You'd have to just enjoy your Sigma if a collection was released on PS4.

I played Ninja Gaiden Sigma for the first time a few days ago and it was fucking horrible. Maybe Black is better, but Sigma was a mistake.

The wii U version runs like trash, trust me, I bought it cheap a while ago and only just started playing it a few days ago. Game speed is tied to framerate and it goes slow mo constantly. Looking at videos, PS3 runs with virtually no slow down, it sounds like 360 is basically the same. I just ordered a PS3 copy so I can actually enjoy the game.

Look at it in terms of the 'thanks for beta testing' meme; NG3 is alpha, Razor's Edge Wii U is beta and RE PS3/360 is the closest you get to how the game should be. Remember, it came out on Wii U first and only arrived on the other consoles some time later. There's no way the Wii U shouldn't be able to run the game about as well as PS3/360 but they shat it out and abandoned it as said.

Yeah Black is like that, its' weird but I like the fast quit to load in the end.

Rachael doesnt exist in Black gameplay section wise. She is just in the story

NGB and NG2 have input drops on xbone. Not sure about 3

Ninja gaiden has better characters than Sekiro. Mind you ninja gaiden characters are from dead or alive

What are some tips for a DMCbro to get into NG?
I tried ninja gaiden sigma a few years back but i couldnt really get into it, i felt like i was just mashing buttons and couldnt figure out how to do the moves, also no lock on a jumpy camera fucked me up

There was more in sigma but they never did anything with since they fired the orginal creator and the new didnt makes the third one better. Tecmo was the 2010 konami before "fuck konami was a thing"

Pretty sure this is only true for areas with waves of enemies. They don't respawn forever.

Not a bad thing at all. The movelist is great and you can experiment on your own terms.

A problem unique to Sigma, yeah. Happens even mid area, with enemies on your ass, it's horrible.

Not having a quick 'restart from checkpoint' or whatever in the menu sucks, but I like that NGB and IIRC NG2 had soft reset. Anyway, Black was designed around only having two shoulder buttons because that's how the OG Xbox was. It had what ended up L1 and R1 on ps3 or L&R bumpers on 360 backwards compatibility as auxiliary functions like the karma counter because they existed as additional face buttons instead on Xbox.

Black is the better game, certainly, but Sigma isn't bad besides the loading and some other stupid shit (like six axis being tacked on for ninpo). If you absolutely can't stand Sigma you probably won't like Black unless you approach it with a more open mind and get used to it. Sigma 2 is the real travesty.

Learn on land charge. Start holding Y right before you land after a jump, and you skip the UT charge wind up animation.

Get comfortable with the guillotine throw, it's 2x X+A. Note that a single X+A press gives you a targeted jump, which is also useful for landing flying swallows and wind path.

Get an original xbox. You will have plenty of other great game to play if you do. Plus you can play xbox on modern displays through component cables with most game using progressive scan and even 16:9, like NGB.

Biggest thing in NG is enemies are aggressive. I would call them hyper aggressive. They will swarm you and relentlessly pummel you if you don't get control of encounters early on.

Blocking and dodging feels so random in NG2. Still working on the double oni boss in chapter 5.

360 backwards compatibility is trash. Most games aren't supported and the ones that do often have issues like slowdown, graphical, and sound. NGB actually runs almost perfect on 360 though. 360 also has NG2 and other japanese arcade games if you are interested.

Get used to holding block most of the time, unless you are doing a combo. Holding block also prevents you from absorbing essence which is used to stack essence for UTs/

Get used to the wind path technique, you are pretty safe while you are jumping on enemy heads.

There is also reblocking, if you get your guard broken, release and hold block again to skip the guard break animation. The easier option is to dodge out of it.

Yeah, I should really look into the combos more, I don't usually play these types of games. The player characters also seem to have some turnaround resistance that forces you to attack into the direction you are facing instead of being able to make sudden changes when using the sticks

I'd say either get a 360 or the bone. Ninja Gaiden 2 is a good game (though different enough from 1 that there's no guarantee you'll like it just because you enjoy Black) and Black is one OG Xbox game that actually works pretty much perfectly on the 360, I only recall one extremely minor graphical glitch in the volcano area. NG2 works fine on 360 as long as you make sure to install it instead of running purely off the disc, but runs at a much higher resolution with less slowdown on the bone. I believe it's 4k while the 360 was 1120x585

Positioning is important in ng, especially for landing those throws.

You don't need long combos, most of the time XXY/XXXT do the job for punishment. What you need is to figure out the best moves for each of the weapons that have good i-frames or delimb rate in case of ng2.

installing ng2 causes crashes because it literally wasn't meant to be installed. this is why the xbone port took so long.

are you sure man? I only realized I could install it a few missions in and it ran a fuckload better after that. It might have crashed a few times but it was worth it.

Googling it a bit - it sounds like it does indeed greatly improve performance, spares you having to listen the 360 fire up like a jet engine from the disc drive spinning like mad, and improves load times (including those that would exist from simply switching weapons mid gameplay), while the crashing seems like it depends at least partially on the model 360 you have - older 20gb HDD models crashing a lot more frequently?

In my opinion, if it doesn't crash often on your 360 it's well worth it.
