I've played 2 and 3 enough times to where the atmosphere and story won't affect my playthroughs as much are there any bugs or long load times I should be aware of? is the OST intact at least? because that matters so much more than the VAs
it's a load of complete shit. if you have a copy of that you should burn it right away, if it's downloaded on your system, just burn the whole thing.
Sebastian Ward
The only good thing about that remaster is the cover art. It's so fucking good
Kayden Johnson
No it's not. It looks like some generic shit you'd find on Tumblr
Blake Morales
^this
Carter Scott
the OST isn't intact has different instruments added for some reason
Blake Cook
It's shit ALL AROUND. EVERYTHING has been butchered. Including OSTs.
Literally DO NOT EVEN TOUCH this piece of shit. Just get the PC ports and use the "Enhanced Edition" mods for a true UHD experience!
Joshua Robinson
Does this collection have the Maria chapter for SH2 that was a timed exclusive for the original Xbox? A pawn shop near my house has this near mint for like $8. This collection is part of the Xbox 360 compatibility program for Xbox One. Was it ever patched for Xbox 360?
360 version wasn't patched, but the patch barely did anything on PS3 it readded the fog(still toned down from PC and PS2) and fixed minor bugs the drastic textures changes are still intact.
Sebastian Wood
There are parts with huge slowdown and others that can cause the game to lock up. The SH HD Collection is the epitome of trash. There's not a single aspect of either SH2 or SH3 that isn't molested in some way.
Juan Phillips
They also made another update of the SH2 patch couple weeks ago. Pretty much fixes all lighting so it's as good if not better than PS2. PC flashlight overall was the only thing that was still worse than PS2
Jose Cox
>but from a gameplay level, how does it fare? Terribly. The framerate chugs down to single-digits at times, and the games have even a tendency to CRASH on random intervals. The fucked up lighting and effects also make things harder at times. >I've played 2 and 3 enough times to where the atmosphere and story won't affect my playthroughs as much ...so why the hell would you want to shove razors into your eyes, ears and hands and play these POS versions, that even the OG Team-Silent's guys hate?? >are there any bugs or long load times I should be aware of? Yes. Alot. In fact, there's an entire TWO (2) HOUR long analysis / review video on Youtube, dedicated all on how awful the ""HD"" collection is, and why. >is the OST intact at least? No. And the VAs are god-awful.
>Does this collection have the Maria chapter for SH2 that was a timed exclusive for the original Xbox? It has it, but it's totally unplayable because of reasons. It was also included on the PS2's and PC's "Director's Cut" versions, so just play those.
>A pawn shop near my house has this near mint for like $8. Look, there's a reason why it is so cheap, while the OG games and, say, MGS' HD Collection are still ~20 bucks each. And no, 360 ver never got patched, nor did the PS3's update fix anything.
Tyler White
a bookmans near me had SH2 in mint for $75 bucks, i legit thought of picking it up since i only have 4 and the Hd shit
sad, I remember PS3 users saying the patched it received alleviated the crash, freeze, and screen tearing, but I guess not.
Benjamin Sanchez
That's not too shabby, even though I've seen the 2-disc special editions go for mere 20-30 bucks. But, some places already ask up to 80 dollaroos.
Imagine my glee when some silly boy was selling his PC port for 20€ last year.
The patch did literally so little that most people don't even know that they're playing the patched version. Also, the game got a DAY 1 PATCH on both systems, so you can only imagine how broken the initial shipped versions were.
Still, the rule of thumb is: Don't play the HD Collection. If you got money burning in your pocket, and don't have a PC, grab the first craptop from a local recycling center, and download the PC ports on that. They WILL work.
The load times are way worse and the game has severe frame rate issues. The sewers in 3 is like 10fps. Also some of the songs they kinda changed.
That and the sound effects are fucky
Anthony Bell
If you are a fan of SH series you will own and play it for a new experience. Some of the music in SH2 is different and it has whole VA that makes it seems like an alternate take on SH2.
>SH2HD >James and Maria now have gravelly deep ass voices which totally alters their characters >everyone else sounds laughably bad >even if you toggle the original voices on some are still the shitty new ones
THANKS GUY YOU FUCKED IT UP FOR EVERYONE.
Adrian Edwards
if you really want to torture yourself I recommend playing it through RPCS3 at least you'll have stable 60FPS
Jack Carter
wow. that's so sad. It's crazy how Bluepoint turned Shadow if the Colossus into a dazzling display of art. But, this port team couldn't get text on a sign correct, I know they didn't have the master code when Konami contracted them for the port, but Jesus man. D:
Jason Richardson
Wow, the emulator can do that?
Chase Clark
the games are locked to 30 on consoles though. Not even kidding you. And even if the "HD" ports would play at 144fps, I still would not recommend them over the PS2 originals or the greatly enhanced PC ports.
Carter Reyes
I thought Troy Baker did a good job. He makes you see the dialogue in a different way.
Caleb Nelson
>Play SH1 >Blind >Get to the first otherworldhellthingy >Panic at the enemies >There's no fucking exit >Close the emulator out of fear >You're supposed to die there How do I stop being a pussy, anons?
kind of agree, James loves vaginae, let him sound like he loves vaginae.
Parker White
Nah, he absolutely fucked it all up. Not as bad as McGlynn, but still. In general, all of the "HD" port's acting sounds monotonous, flat, bored, and just off-key.
Play more. No, it will not remove the fear, but you'll get addicted to it.
Liam Hall
Bluepoint had nothing to do with SHHD
Landon Ross
oh my fucking Jesus, those textures, lol
John Williams
if you ran this on an actual PS3 it would dip to 20's
Logan Myers
Oh you didn’t mean Bluepoint Bluepoint actually didn’t use the source code for MGSHD and just reverse engineered the originals and ported to next gen consoles. Maybe the source codes for mgs2 and 3 are also lost or maybe thy just chose not to use them.
Benjamin Jackson
What should they have done to save the series after 3/4? It was clear the games were getting a bit formulaic in layout by 3, and stuff like having every door locked and finding the one item to use there began feeling shallow, but I don't know how they could replace it. Part of why I loved SH1 is because you really felt lost and didn't know what was coming next, but 2 disappointed a lot when I wanted to see more of the city but I was just funneled straight into the next place with its own map and handful of puzzles. That took away a lot of the experience to me honestly. I wish they could've found some new direction for gameplay because having it be so plain like that drags down the other elements too.
What do you think?
Jayden Watson
>download sh3 >automatic easy mode glitch >system data doesnt load or save
how do I fix this
Jack Nguyen
That's what makes it an interesting playthrough. The HD version feels like you are in a bad dream. Maria's stoic bland voice actually adds to her character.
Easton Thompson
If I remember, a team member that worked on SHHD said Konami didn't have the master ISO for SH2 and had a rough draft of it and SH3 had a near complete build on an HDD, is the port of SH3 worse than SH2? no really mentions it.
Aiden Gomez
Dont ever defend this game.
>bugs and load times Yes. >is the OST intact No, they either use the wrong versions from the soundtrack, individually fuck up the tracks by adding weird shit like the bells in Eddie's scene or the weird honks, or have some other fuck completely re-record the song. >VAs were always bad! Ebin.
Samuel Perry
easy mode glitch?
Joshua Price
>start on normal action and riddle >get to the hospital, its late so go to sleep >play again the next day, some how kill leonard with one fucking shotgun bullet and infinite heather stomp >wtf I don't remember this game being this easy >realize I can't fall off platforms >find out after I beat God that the difficulty changed from normal to easy
>The HD version feels like you are in a bad dream Yeah, the nightmare of Team-Silent, where they have to watch some yank-pricks rape their love child.
>Maria's stoic bland voice actually adds to her character. No, it RUINS it completely. There's none of that flirty, playful succubus in her, and the transitions between her and "Mary" are literally nonexistent.
Ethan Stewart
>is the port of SH3 worse than SH2? no really mentions it. Yes. It is WAY worse. You noobs never watched the Twin Perfect's mammoth-sized review??
Archival, might be useful as reference for future work.
Juan Ross
Maria isn't real anyway so it makes sense that she has a mono type voice.
Daniel Rivera
Probably, fucking stupid Japs. So sad so much history has been lost. We need a archive/perservation group for gaming. D:
Connor Hill
Easy to say that with the hindsight, but especially back in 1990s and still in early 00s, nobody even had thought of having to re-release the same 20yo games AGAIN in the future, especially in somehow "enhanced" versions. Backwards compatibility was pretty much taken for granted after PS2, and Nintendo successfully emulated their N64 Zeldas and shit already on GC.
To top this off, storage space was limited and expensive.
Wrong on both accords. You are just an idiot apologist.
Parker Long
no, ordering a pizza right now and getting some brewskis to watch this trainwreck.
Jaxon Gomez
Have fun (?). The video / film is quite legendary. Check out their SH:DP review next.
