It's all or nothing, there's no way to buy Torna without the expansion pass stuff for the main game (or vice versa).
The DLC version should be $30 if you have the base game, though. $40 is just for people buying it standalone.

There's a fully translated unused quest called The Truth of the Royal Family that focuses on Zeke and Pandoria finding documents that prove to an old teacher and the rest of Tantal that the royal family is not directly descended from Addam. There's an insurrection taking place at the same time where Tantalese soldiers try to resurrect Addam using the documents to lay judgement on the royal family. I imagine it got cut due to the similarity with the planned DLC quest involving another Tantalese insurrection over the same thing, but with Finch involved.
I don't think it has to go all the way, but a few more ARPG elements incorporated into the current system would be nice.
I've seen that one. I could be wrong, but wasn't it around before the quest with Finch was released? I always figured it something they partially repurposed for the DLC (though the version focusing on Zeke and Pandy seemed a LOT more interesting).

Most of the DLC quests seem to be repurposed from unused quests. Like the Cloud Sea Compass EX is an unused key item presumably used in an unused quest that ultimately got repurposed into that one DLC quest where Tora upgrades Rex's Cloud Sea Compass to find another salvaging spot.
There's an unused Torna quest called Unique Subjugation Complete that presumably involved defeating all the unique monsters. It still partially exists in the final game as a way of adding that old lady in Hyber Village to your Community, though it's not a quest.

Veg & Oyster Aspic (+18 Trust) in Leftheria otherwise and you want to be as cost-productive as possible.
Noponchos (+21 Trust) in Leftheria if you want something less cost-productive but faster.
Love Donuts (+2000 Trust) in NG+ Torna.
Trust maxes out at 59000. Once you hit S rank, you can hit higher ranks, S1, S2, S3, S4, S5, S6, S7, S8, S9, and S+. Higher trust gives benefits, like a 1.8× auto-attack multiplier at S+ or hitting max Affinity faster.

That's not how you get overdrives. You need a level 4 common with a maxed chart, and I don't think the first blade can be more than level 2.

I think my biggest problem with this game was how much filler it had. Every single cutscene was not important to the actual gameplay in any way. And skipping it was frustrating, as there are 500+ hours of cutscenes and dialogue. And what purpose do they fill anyway? Nia doesn't like her flier looking goofy, so she rips it up in le funny quirky anime expression? Mythra calls Rex a baka and throws a coffee mug at him? Malos makes yet another unfunny reddit-tier joke?
It truly cements everything I'd consider wrong with the JRPG genre. If they had cut out all of this fat, the game would improve ten fold. The install size would be smaller, the budget would probably be saved by a few million dollars, maybe they'd make enough money to give us the torna DLC for free since they're already making money. It's just a damn pity, and the worst part is that people actually like these cutscenes. They like when they're NOT playing the game, and that sets a dangerous precedent where people want less videogamey products, in a medium entirely about interactivity. It's also ironic how Nintendo and Monolith Soft, companies known for their innovation, have no idea how to make a JRPG that isn't story heavy. That would be the innovation of the century, and would make waggling and portable consoles look like small change.

mCable is some sort of 100$ HDMI cable that has some high tech upscaler and AA algorithm built into it. It basically makes 720p games look like 1080p games with awesome AA. I got one, then set my switch to 720p forever- the 720p upscaled by the cable looks better than the switch outputting raw 1080p. Raw 1080p also looks great on the cable, but if the game is running at a lower resolution, like 900p (like breath of the wild) then the cable starts to shit itself, because the switch is already upscaling the 900p to 1080p, and then the cable is trying to convert an already converted image. It's good shit.

I wouldn't be surprised if the madlad recreated the game in the XC2 engine and then added a chapter 13 and some extra affinity missions to tie up loose ends, as well as a challenge mode/replay story missions mode and cutscene viewer. Basically bring it up to the same extra features as seen in Xenoblade 2.

Not sure if this is a good place to post this, but I just started Xenosaga II and actually prefer it over the original. The music is better, the cutscenes are flashier, the battle system is improved, and the graphics are better for the most part as well. Is something gonna jump up and make me hate it, or am I just retarded? Only bad things so far is voice acting is a little worse and some faces look awful.

It is hard for me to rank because many of them do really well in areas where others fail.
Overall: 2>X>1>Gears (never played Saga)
Story: 2+Torna > Gears > 2 without Torna > 1 > X
Gameplay: X>2>1>Gears
2 is the best overall experience by far. It has the most quality of life, the best story when you have Torna included, and a pretty solid set of systems. It also has some annoyances and flaws.
X is the most fun to play though, with the best exploration and most addicting combat in the series. The progression systems in X are also by far the best, and soul voices are an awesome mechanic. I also feel like the side content absolutely eclipses the side content in any other game.
1 is the simplest game in the series, so while I feel like it is the third best in the series, it is also the first one I'd recommend. It is easy to pick up, accessible, universal. It is the fucking Capeshit marvel movie of JRPGs. And I mean that in the absolute best way possible. If it gets a port on Switch, the ONLY change I'd want them to make outside of graphical updates is to add the bonus EXP/optional level up system from Xenoblade 2 so that you don't get overpowered from doing sidequests.
Gears has a great fucking story, but everything else in the game is fucking archaic. Also, disc 2 is certainly a thing that exists.

They weren't perfect, but they were far, far more than what I expected. A really pleasant surprise after the last two games.
