Ace Attorney

Why do people always want Japanese names in their translations except in the case of Ace Attorney?

ace attorney is set in america dumbo

Because it gave us gold such as this

it should have been fries. dumb translator wrote an entire blog post about how burgers were the american equivalent. burgers are heavier than ramen, and unfeminine. fries is about the same category and cuter. but then again american women are extremely unfeminine so burgers would fit them more

Does the PS4 version of the first trilogy has voices? I started this yesterday on the switch and It didn't have any just sounds.

I want Maya to bear my children

Only in the English translation.

no, none of the games have voices except from 3DS onwards, where only the cutscenes do

Because even in Japanese the names in Ace Attorney are puns. It makes sense that the names in English should also be puns.

In Japan ramen has a stigma of being a greasy, unfeminine fast food eaten mostly by middle aged salarymen, so localizing it as burgers is pretty reasonable from that point of view.

>In Japan ramen has a stigma of being a greasy, unfeminine fast food eaten mostly by middle aged salarymen
>burgers are heavier than ramen, and unfeminine.
why do you fags just say shit that comes to your head with no real tie to reality

Aptonyms are one of those things it'd suck to lose in the translation. Most people playing in English don't get the context of Gant's obsession with swimming and it falls flat as a result.
According to C-R, the kanji in his Japanese name can also be read as an old adage amounting to "You can climb the mountain, but you can't conquer the river," so the invitation to go swimming is a low-key dare to take him on, and he sees himself as unbeatable.

The Japanese names are puns in Japanese

So no shit, they are going to have puns in the other languages

Seeing as you are a professional translator, can you translate low-key to me? I don't speak zoomer.

Yes, but a lot of people who play games like these insist on having the names untranslated altogether.

I do but Ace Attorney is too far gone at this point so I may as well roll with it. Changing things now would be too awkward for most fans.

I've watched over 300 anime, I think I know what I'm talking about.

ive seen women use burgers and greasy food to appear manly and unfeminine, much in the same way they'll talk about periods or vomiting openly. meat is often seen as a masculine food, and burgers are an american symbol, like when tony stark said he wanted an american burger in iron man 1. why are you such a shut-in?

Only weebs care about that.

makes sense from that perspective

Try using a dictionary

>unfeminine
>they'll talk about periods
>burgers are inherently masculine
what the fuck are you on about
even beyond that who the hell goes out "for fries"? no-one says that

nigger I'm 28 and I hear people my age say "low-key", do you just not talk to people or are you actually 40?

Then the follow-up question is: Why don't weebs demand the same of AA, or alternatively, why doesn't this series attract weebs?

Fuck off ESL.

burgers are quite large and heavy compared to ramen, so a man obsessed with being more masculine will be proud of eating a lot of food for "gains", for example, especially as these kind of men often are babied by their mothers, who can have an obsession with feeding their sons. if youve ever been on a date girls will say they'll just have fries because they dont want to be seen as pigs, unless they are trying to turn you off deliberately while keeping their facade of passivity. have you never observed human relationships before?

Well as I said, I got the info from C-R. Low-key meaning the malice is present if you get the subtext, but it's not an overt threat.
I'm aware you're probably pretending to be retarded in a passive-agressive way, but sometimes it's hard to be sure so it's a straight answer you get.

There are people who do it and want pretty much 1/1 translations.
