"Metroid" has been alive for over a decade with the non-stop onslaught of Metroidvania indie games. If you're into Metroid as a genre and form of exploration, then Metroid has successfully inspired countless successors, most of them surpassing the games they were inspired by.

A series with two good games, and one of them is a pinball title.

Metroid Prime 1 is the second best game of all time, so knowing that the series is back in Retro's hands, who "recently" made DKTF, a game that can stand up to and sometimes even surpasses the titles of the golden age, feels really damn good.

Though I'd say the series itself is looking to be in a good place, some of the choices they made for Smash Bros. has always struck me as a bit odd considering how much care other series have gotten.

Mostly minor stuff really, like how 4 and SmUsh use a version of the Varia suit based on the single biggest PR dumpsterfire the series has ever experienced (Other M), as well as multiple Spirits being from or referencing it. Seeing how Nintendo has otherwise completely washed their hands of it, its just kinda weird.

From a pure game line-up persepctive there's nothing wrong with Metroid beyond one or two truly disappointing games, it's the fanbase that is pure cancer, always arguing about the most stupid shit, while there other series out there that are truly dead but its orphaned fanbase manage to be more civil than metroidfags.

I wish. They still think of Samus as sex appeal and nothing more. That's why I don't have much hope for Prime 4. Look at how badly they treated Samus Returns. No advertising whatsoever, and they left it to die on the 3DS.
